Besthibachi Introduce
For Californians, especially those in the vibrant city of San Diego, finding a Japanese restaurant that consistently delivers on flavor, freshness, and satisfaction is a true win. That's where Besthibachi comes into play. Tucked away on Market Street, this spot has cultivated a loyal following for its "bomb" food and commitment to quality, making it a highly recommended destination for anyone craving authentic and delicious hibachi.
Besthibachi isn't your typical sit-down hibachi experience with a show, but rather a focus on delivering the core elements of what makes hibachi so appealing: perfectly cooked meats, fresh vegetables, and flavorful sauces. Customers consistently rave about the food, with one dedicated patron stating, "The food here is very good. I get it every time I’m in San Diego." This kind of loyalty speaks volumes about the consistent excellence found here.
What truly sets Besthibachi apart, beyond the undeniable taste, is the dedication to freshness. The food is "always cooked fresh," which contributes to a bit of a wait during peak hours, but as one reviewer enthusiastically put it, "a little wait but that's because it's always cooked fresh!! Best hibachi gets 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'd give more if I could!!" This commitment ensures that every bite is as delicious as the last. While the dining area might be described as "dull" by some, it's a clear indication that the focus here is squarely on the culinary experience itself. For those who prioritize incredible food over elaborate decor, Besthibachi is a clear winner, offering a meal that's "worth it 100%," even if it's "pretty pricey."
Besthibachi is conveniently located at 744 Market St, San Diego, CA 92101, USA. This address places it in the heart of downtown San Diego, likely within or very close to the bustling Gaslamp Quarter. This area is a vibrant hub for locals and tourists alike, known for its extensive array of dining, entertainment, and nightlife options.
Being in a downtown urban environment, accessibility will primarily involve considerations for parking. While street parking might be available, it can be competitive. However, downtown San Diego, especially around the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy, offers numerous parking garages and lots. For instance, options like the 610 W. Ash Street garage or the County of San Diego Parking Structure (1536 Kettner Boulevard) are available within a reasonable distance, albeit with varying hourly rates. It's advisable for Californians driving to anticipate utilizing a parking garage, which simplifies the arrival process.
Furthermore, its downtown location makes it highly accessible via public transportation for those living within San Diego's urban core, including trolley lines and bus routes. For those visiting or working in the immediate vicinity, Besthibachi is easily reachable on foot, making it a convenient option for a quick and delicious meal during a busy day or evening out.
High-Quality Hibachi Entrees: Besthibachi specializes in individual hibachi plates featuring a range of protein options cooked to perfection. These typically come served with steamed rice and vegetables. Options include Chicken Plate, Salmon Plate, Lobster Plate, Scallops Plate, Shrimp Plate, New York Steak Plate, and Filet Mignon.
Combination Plates and Trio Options: For those who want more variety, Besthibachi offers numerous combination plates (e.g., New York Steak & Shrimp, Chicken & Shrimp, Filet Mignon & Scallops) and larger "Trio Plates" (e.g., New York Steak, Chicken, and Shrimp Trio; Lobster, Filet Mignon, and Shrimp Trio) ensuring a satisfying and diverse meal.
Yakisoba and Noodle Bowls: Beyond the traditional hibachi plates, the menu also includes flavorful noodle dishes like Yakisoba Noodle Bowls (with cabbage, carrot, green onion, and garlic butter) and "Noodles on Fire" Udon Bowls (with green pepper, onion, carrot, celery, garlic butter, and diablo sauce).
Takeout and Online Ordering: Besthibachi is renowned for its excellent takeout service. Customers are highly encouraged to "order ahead of time" to minimize wait times, as food is cooked fresh. Online ordering is available through popular platforms like Grubhub, Postmates, and DoorDash, offering both pickup and delivery options.
Wide Variety of Sauces: To enhance the flavors of their dishes, Besthibachi offers a selection of popular hibachi sauces, including Diablo Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce, Ginger Sauce, Lemon Wedge, and the highly praised Yum Yum Sauce, which customers often love to add.
Late-Night Operating Hours: A significant convenience, Besthibachi is open late, especially on weekends (until 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays), making it an excellent option for late-night cravings in downtown San Diego.
Exceptional Food Quality: The most consistent highlight is the "very good," "bomb," and "100% worth it" food. The quality of the protein and the cooking are consistently praised, ensuring a highly satisfying meal.
Freshly Cooked to Order: Customers repeatedly emphasize that the food is "always cooked fresh." While this might lead to a wait, it's a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and is seen as a major positive by loyal patrons.
Flavorful and Well-Seasoned Dishes: Even though one review mentioned a slight lack of seasoning on the protein itself, the overall consensus is that the dishes are "flavorful," especially with the addition of their popular sauces like the "crack sauce" (spicy mayo) and Yum Yum Sauce.
Variety of Proteins and Combinations: The extensive menu featuring chicken, salmon, lobster, scallops, shrimp, New York steak, and filet mignon, along with various combination and trio plates, caters to diverse preferences and appetites.
Convenient Online Ordering & Takeout Focus: The ability to "order ahead of time" for quick pickup is a major convenience, especially given potential wait times. Their strong presence on delivery apps also makes enjoying their food from home incredibly easy.
Late-Night Dining Option: Staying open until midnight during the week and 2:00 a.m. on weekends makes Besthibachi a prime destination for late-night cravings in downtown San Diego.
Excellent Value for Quality: Despite being described as "pretty pricey," customers consistently state that the "food is worth it 100%," indicating a strong perceived value for the high quality of the hibachi.
Based on the available information, Besthibachi's core value proposition lies in the high quality and freshness of its food, rather than frequent, publicly advertised discount promotions. However, customers can experience value and convenience through several avenues:
Combination and Trio Plates: These menu items offer a way to enjoy a variety of proteins at a potentially better per-item value than ordering individual plates, appealing to those seeking a more comprehensive meal.
Online Ordering Perks: When ordering through platforms like Grubhub or DoorDash, customers might be eligible for platform-specific promotions, such as discounted delivery fees (e.g., Grubhub+ membership) or first-time user discounts. It's always worth checking the app for current offers.
"Steak, Shrimp & Chicken trio lunch special": While the primary menu on their website doesn't explicitly list this as a "special" with discounted pricing for lunch, a "Hibachi Kings" (which may be related or a sister location, though separate from Besthibachi on Market St) mentions a "Steak, shrimp & Chicken trio. lunch special 12-4 pm daily." It's advisable to call Besthibachi directly to confirm if they offer a similar lunch special or any other daily deals at their Market Street location.
Catering Options: For larger groups or events, Besthibachi offers catering services. While not a "promotion," ordering for a larger party can often provide a more cost-effective way to enjoy their food per person.
Given the focus on fresh, cooked-to-order food, Besthibachi's main "promotion" is often the consistent quality and satisfaction that keeps customers returning. For any specific deals, a direct inquiry with the restaurant is recommended.

Besthibachi Reviews
The food here is very good. I get it everytime I’m in San Diego, order ahead of time because the wait at night could take forever. But the food makes it worth it. I’d also rather eat the somewhere else. The dining area is very dull. But the food is what really matters. Order a head of time and it’ll make the difference. It’s also pretty pricey but to me the food is worth it 100%
Mar 25, 2025 · Michael SierraI love you place. The lady working the register, so accommodating. The food always 💣 bomb!! A little wait but that's because it's always cooked fresh!! Best hibachi gets 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'd give more if I could!! Also open late!!
May 08, 2025 · Sagrado Jiu JitsuI ordered my food expecting it to be prepared properly, like any functioning restaurant should manage. But no. The rice shows up plain white, not a drop of the sauce I specifically requested. Then comes the real horror. The shrimp and chicken were literally undercooked. As in, dangerously raw. What kind of kitchen is serving raw seafood and poultry to customers? That’s not just lazy, that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Since I was starving and trusted the label that said it was “ready to eat,” I had to COOK the damn food myself, food that should’ve come fully cooked. After eating, I went to bed thinking that was the end of the nightmare. Wrong. I woke up in actual hell. My stomach felt like it was being clenched in a vice grip. I was drenched in sweat, felt like puking my guts out, and I had the overwhelming urge to sprint to the bathroom every 10 seconds, even when there was nothing left to give. It got so bad, I had to strip down in the car literally becoming shirtless and just in boxers like I was being exorcised. This wasn’t just food poisoning, this was a biohazard. I’ve spent the entire day weak, hot, nauseous, and in constant pain. This place served me something that belongs in a medical waste bin, not a takeout box. Shut. Them. Down. For public health. For humanity. For me.
Apr 07, 2025 · grayson**Awful Experience at Besthibachi**I had the most disappointing experience with Besthibachi. I ordered through UberEats and waited over an hour for my food, which is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I tried calling the restaurant multiple times, but they didn’t respond at all. When my order finally arrived, I discovered they had forgotten an entire item—the Chicken Plate with garlic sauce. How can a restaurant mess up an order so badly? This experience has been frustrating, and I now understand why there are so many negative reviews. Don’t be fooled by the false positive reviews on UberEats; I certainly won’t be ordering from Besthibachi again. Save your time and money and choose a restaurant that values its customers!
