Demiya Introduce
Welcome to Demiya, a popular Japanese restaurant nestled in San Jose, California, at 375 Saratoga Ave G, San Jose, CA 95129, USA. This casual eatery has carved out a niche for itself as a beloved local spot, particularly for aficionados of Japanese-style curry. While the name "Doctor Near Me" might typically conjure images of healthcare providers, in the context of a platform offering diverse services, it can also encompass establishments that provide comfort and well-being through their offerings. Demiya, with its focus on delicious, hearty Japanese comfort food, certainly fits this broader interpretation, offering a kind of culinary remedy for your hunger and cravings.
Demiya is renowned for its diverse menu featuring Japanese-style curry rice, udon noodles, donburi, and teishoku sets. This establishment has built a strong following, particularly for its convenient takeout service, which is a testament to the quality and appeal of its dishes. However, for those who prefer to dine in, Demiya offers a straightforward and relaxed experience that caters to a quick and satisfying meal.
Upon entering Demiya, you'll find a compact yet thoughtfully arranged dining space. The interior design is minimal, focusing on functionality while incorporating subtle elements of Japanese aesthetics. You'll notice various Japanese artworks adorning the walls, a teapot or two adding a touch of traditional charm, and some playful elements like Hello Kitty plush toys that lend a whimsical and friendly atmosphere. The seating arrangement primarily consists of wooden two-person tables. These tables are designed to be easily pushed together, providing flexibility for small groups, though the overall layout is more conducive to solo diners or intimate gatherings rather than larger parties.
The service model at Demiya is designed for efficiency, catering to its fast-casual format. Ordering is a streamlined process: you place your order at the counter, and once your name is called, you pick up your food. This self-service approach extends to beverages, with self-service water available for diners. The presence of dine-in staff is minimal, which allows the team to prioritize the continuous flow of to-go orders—a clear indicator of Demiya's popularity for takeout. If you plan to visit during peak lunch hours, even on weekdays, it’s advisable to anticipate a short wait in line, a minor trade-off for the flavorful and satisfying meals that await.
One of Demiya's key features is its extensive and customizable menu. When it comes to Japanese curry, you have a wide array of protein options to choose from, ensuring there's something to satisfy every preference. Popular choices include classic **tonkatsu** (pork cutlet), **chicken katsu** (chicken cutlet), savory **karaage** (fried chicken), and unique options like **menchi** (ground meat cutlet), and lighter alternatives such as **tofu** and **nasu** (eggplant). For those who enjoy hot pot ingredients, **beef shabu** is also available, alongside crispy **croquettes** and succulent **ebi** (shrimp).
Beyond the protein, Demiya allows you to tailor your curry experience further. You can select your preferred **spice level** for the curry, ranging from mild to intensely flavorful, ensuring your meal is exactly to your liking. Additionally, a variety of toppings are available to enhance your dish, including earthy **mushrooms**, fresh **veggies**, a comforting **omelet**, a perfectly cooked **egg**, and savory **sausage**. While the extensive customization options and variety are impressive, it's worth noting that the prices at Demiya are on the higher side, considering that the dishes are largely simple, home-style preparations. For instance, the curry rice with fried protein options can be relatively high in calories, a factor to consider for those mindful of their dietary intake.
Customers consistently praise Demiya for its delicious food. For example, one satisfied patron raved about their experience with the **tonkatsu curry at spice level 2**, highlighting its perfectly balanced flavor and ideal portion size, and expressing a strong desire to return. This sentiment is common among Demiya's regulars, who appreciate the consistent quality and authentic taste of the Japanese comfort food served here.
For promotional information, Demiya's consistent quality and popular demand speak volumes. While specific ongoing promotions aren't detailed, the restaurant's strong local following and reputation for flavorful, customizable Japanese comfort food serve as a powerful draw. You can always check their official channels or call them directly at (408) 877-7883 or +1 408-877-7883 for any current specials or updates.
In summary, Demiya is an excellent choice if you're seeking quick, customizable, and authentic Japanese comfort food in San Jose. It’s particularly well-suited for solo visits or a casual lunch with a friend. While it may not offer a full-service dining experience or an elaborate atmosphere, it truly excels in delivering on flavor and variety, especially if you are a devoted fan of well-executed Japanese curry. Whether you're looking for a satisfying meal after a busy day or simply craving a taste of Japan, Demiya offers a comforting and delicious solution.

Demiya Reviews
Demiya – A Casual Spot for Japanese Curry Lovers in San JoseTucked into a modest storefront in San Jose, Demiya is a popular local curry house known for its Japanese-style curry rice, udon noodles, donburi, and teishoku sets. While the shop has built a strong following, especially for takeout, the dine-in experience is more of a casual, fast-food format than a full-service restaurant. The dining space is compact, with wooden two-person tables that can be pushed together for small groups, but the layout isn’t ideal for larger gatherings. The décor is minimal but thoughtful—featuring Japanese artwork, a teapot or two, and a few playful touches like Hello Kitty plush toys.Demiya’s menu offers a wide range of protein options including tonkatsu, chicken katsu, karaage, menchi (ground meat cutlet), tofu, nasu (eggplant), beef shabu, croquettes, and ebi (shrimp). A spicy level could be chosen with the curry option. I believe the curry rice with the fried protein could be high in calories. You can customize your meal further with toppings like mushrooms, veggies, omelet, egg, and sausage. While the variety is impressive, the prices run high considering the dishes are relatively simple and home-style in nature.Ordering is done at the counter, and food is picked up once your name is called. Self-service water is available, and the dine-in staff presence is minimal—likely due to the team’s focus on prepping a steady stream of to-go orders. During lunch hours, even on weekdays, be prepared for a short wait in line.If you're looking for quick, customizable Japanese comfort food, Demiya delivers on flavor and variety, though not necessarily on atmosphere or service. Best suited for a solo visit or casual lunch, especially if you're a fan of Japanese curry done right.
May 22, 2025 · Scott Leegot the tonkatsu curry spice level 2 and the flavor was so balanced! The portion sizes was perfect and I would definitely come back!
Apr 29, 2025 · oakinawaFor Japanese curry place , still thinking Demiya is better than other 3 around South Bay .Curry is light but flavorful and smooth.Tonkatsu is outside crispy , inside is juicy , they did so perfectly! You ordered at front , and pick up at front and clean table by yourself .
Nov 19, 2023 · Kimberly IwamotoTonkatsu Curry tasted great. The thick cut fried pork tasted very tender. You will need to place the order and pay at the front desk; there is no waiter to serve. Almost everything is taken care by yourself, such as getting the water, receiving the food orders at the front desk, removing the tray and plates/bowls to the collection shelf in the back, etc. Also, it took quite a while to receive the order.
Jan 03, 2024 · Bryan YozThis is a must try spot for Japanese curry in the South Bay. It’s a classic for a weeknight or even weekend meal. The rich savory curry sauce paired with crispy battered chicken and a side of white rice 👌. The chicken katsu /tonkatsu breading was not too thick and doughy while the meat was juicy and tender. The pickles on the side and spicy level (can be adjusted) adds to the dish depth and texture. Such a humbling meal yet it hits the spot every time!
