Echigo Home cook Reviews
Have been wanting to try this place for a while after walking past it on Valencia. We went on a rainy sunday night craving Japanese curry & Echigo did not disappoint!! While the nigiri sushi was super fresh & delicious, curry dishes were the best we’ve had in the city since returning from our trip to Japan!! The meat was cooked perfectly— crispy yet juicy. The portions were very generous & the curry truly felt like someone’s home cooked family recipe. We finally found our curry spot!! 🙌🏽🍛
Feb 14, 2025 · Corrina UyedaHome cook is a great hook. I had the 49ers roll and it was great. The sake selection is also great, especially on the dry side. The management has some things to be desired, including clean wares and attentiveness. All in all, it was a good experience. I know they are saving pennies to stay alive and that makes sense.
Jan 03, 2025 · Mark TemplinA bit disappointed. My ikura didn’t seem super fresh (some were cloudy—you can see it the photo), and one segment of uni was definitely bad. Crab was good. Pickle wasabi was bomb. Presentation was nice, service was really kind, and decor in late afternoon was good. Sounds like others usually enjoy the food, so maybe I just had bad luck today. I could give them another try some time.
Mar 12, 2025 · Selenaquaint spot for hearty & authentic japanese cuisine in sf-drawn by the cute door as we neared the restaurant. was not expecting much as there weren’t many reviews, but the warm aesthetics of the interior was such a pleasant surprise. after we were seated and while deciding on our dinner menu, i was debating between the omakase (fresh fish flown in from toyosu market in tokyo!) and the ikura bowl. my friends ordered the katsu curry, and mentaiko udon. ultimately, i still went with the ikura bowl as it was what i was craving. the bowl came with three different cuts of salmon sashimi. while it was fresh and good, it was a smaller portion of sashimi than i had hoped for but the rice portion was generous. i would opt to try the nigiris next time! they also have some donburi and chazuke options. overall, we all enjoyed the food and would recommend this place for the calm ambience and delicious food.
