Conveniently located at 530 Showers Dr #4, Mountain View, CA 94040, this establishment has quickly gained a reputation for its exquisite sushi and flavorful ramen. While operating within the platform category of "Doctor Near Me" might seem unconventional for a restaurant, it underscores its role as a vital local service provider, offering a unique and essential "good for sale" in the form of exceptional Japanese cuisine. One of the most defining **features** of Eighty-Eight Sushi & Ramen, as consistently highlighted by customer reviews, is the outstanding quality and execution of their premium rolls. Patrons "highly recommend getting their premium rolls!" praising the "amazing execution" and the thoughtful conception of "each roll." These are not merely rolls; they are meticulously crafted culinary creations. The menu boasts a variety of options, but the premium selections truly shine. For instance, the **Eighty-Eight Roll** is lauded for being "packed and topped with so much fish," featuring "extremely fresh" tuna with a "soft texture." The accompanying sauce is described as "very light and not over powering," offering a "savory and a hint of citrus" profile that perfectly complements the fish. Similarly, the **Phoenix Roll** garners high praise for its "amazing" flavor profile, including an "interesting" and "smoky" tobiko, reminiscent of hondashi, and a "buttery" avocado. The unagi topping is noted for its savory depth, and the "love the portion size of the fish" indicates a generous and satisfying offering. The sauce, a "soy reduction with some hondashi or bonito," is deemed "very delicious," and the hamachi boasts a "nice firmer texture." This meticulous attention to ingredient combination and flavor harmony is a hallmark of their premium offerings.
Beyond the premium rolls, Eighty-Eight Sushi & Ramen also excels in its nigiri. One customer enthusiastically declared it the "best nigiri had in the Bay Area," emphasizing the "fresh and flavourful" fish. The skill of the sushi chefs is particularly evident in their nigiri preparation, described as "perfectly prepared." A highly recommended dish is the **nigiri combo**, where the chef curates the selection, promising a delightful surprise of fresh, expertly chosen sushi. The restaurant also offers other well-received dishes, such as their **Takoyaki**, which features a "nice and crispy" batter and a "big chunk of tender octopus inside," lightly dressed to avoid overpowering the main ingredients. The **Spicy Tuna** is also noted for being "good," "minced nicely that there is still texture to the bite rather than all mush," and refreshingly "not too spicy" while tasting "very fresh." It's also worth noting the general praise for all their rolls being "packed" and "light on the rice," a clear indication of their focus on substantial fillings and excellent balance.
The **environment** at Eighty-Eight Sushi & Ramen, while not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, can be inferred from the positive dining experiences. A restaurant that consistently delivers high-quality food and attentive service likely maintains a comfortable and inviting atmosphere conducive to enjoying a meal. The focus on fresh ingredients and well-executed dishes suggests a clean and well-organized kitchen and dining area. The ability to provide fast service also implies an efficient and streamlined operation, contributing to a pleasant dining experience.
Regarding **services**, Eighty-Eight Sushi & Ramen receives high marks for its attentiveness and efficiency. Customers commend the "good very attentive" service, noting that staff "paid attention to the water level and asked if we need more." This proactive approach to customer care ensures a comfortable and well-served dining experience. Furthermore, the speed of service is a significant advantage, with rolls arriving "pretty fast too." This efficiency, combined with the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff, creates a seamless and enjoyable meal for diners. The feedback "Service ID fast and fish is good" succinctly captures the essence of their operational excellence.
While specific **promotional information** is not fully detailed, the reviews offer crucial insights. A key recommendation is to "skip the happy hour menu" in favor of the "premium rolls" and, more importantly, to "pay attention to the monthly rolls." Although one reviewer didn't get to try the monthly rolls, the "description looked fire" and "really good," indicating that these rotating specials are a significant draw and a likely source of exciting, high-quality offerings. This strongly suggests that the monthly rolls serve as a continuous promotion, encouraging repeat visits to experience new and innovative creations. The fact that the happy hour items, while not universally praised (e.g., California roll being "a bit saucy"), still offer "tender octopus" in the Takoyaki and "fresh" spicy tuna, indicates a general commitment to quality across the board. For local users under the "Doctor Near Me" category, being aware of these dynamic monthly specials is crucial for maximizing their dining experience and discovering new favorites. Patrons are encouraged to inquire about the current monthly roll selection to capitalize on these potentially exceptional offerings. The repeated positive feedback, such as "Will visit this place again for the chef special" and "Menu has lot of other options too," suggests a diverse and consistently satisfying culinary experience, making Eighty-Eight Sushi & Ramen a highly recommended choice in the Mountain View area.

Eighty-Eight Sushi & Ramen Reviews
I highly recommend getting their premium rolls! The execution was amazing, each roll was we thought out. Skip the happy hour menu. Pay attention to the monthly rolls, I only noticed it at the end, but the description looked fire.Premium rolls:- Eighty-Eight Roll was packed and topped with so much fish! I loved the wasbi tobiko on top. The tuna was extremely fresh. Texture was soft. The roll was amazing. Sauce was really good very light and not over powering was savory and a hint of citrus. Highly recommend.- The Phoenix Roll was also amazing. The tobiko flavor was very interesting. It had a smoky taste to it similar to hondashi from their sauce, which was similar to a soy reduction with bonito. I the tobiko may have absorbed some of the sauce flavor (?). The avocado was nice and buttery. The unagi top was really savory. Love the portion size of the fish. Sauce seems like a soy reduction with some hondashi or bonito, very delicious.Hamachi had a nice firmer texture. Love the combination of ingredients.Happy hour:- Takoyaki batter is nice and crispy and a big chunk of tender octopus inside. Lightly dressed which doesn’t over power everything.- California roll crab salad was a bit saucy, a bit heavy on the mayo side.- Spicy tuna was good. Minced nicely that there is still texture to the bite rather than all mush. Not too spicy, tasted very fresh.I like that all the rolls were packed. And light on the rice. The speciality rolls were well thought out with amazing execution. All the individual flavors fit perfectly and complimented each other. I would skip the happy hour rolls and re place it with the monthly roll. Didn’t get a chance to try it but the description looked really good.Service was good very attentive, they paid attention to the water level and asked if we need more. Our rolls came out pretty fast too.

Apr 21, 2025 · Sameera PrasadI went here on a whim tonight and was surprised to find such a gem!I ordered the garlic edamame, omakase sashimi, and two rolls. Everything hit the spot so perfectly. I usually am picky with sushi, but I was quite impressed with this place (especially given that it’s difficult to find a good sushi spot in the bay compared to SoCal).I would come again!
May 23, 2025 · Lillian ChoiFinally leaving a review after coming here many times. We even see the same locals come every time we go for dinner! Sushi is fantastic- lion rolls, regular tuna or salmon rolls and the vegetarian rolls my wife gets. They have soy paper as well. Vegetarian ramen is delicious too. We like the service and especially the dessert! It’s not pictured, but they get the dessert cakes from a cafe in SJ. Very light and delicious. Appetizers are also flavorful - agedashi tofu and edamame 😋

You should absolutely try it - Literally the best sashimi I’ve ever had (specifically the yellowtail (hamachi))ALSO their mochi donuts are a must get too - because this is the only place where I’ve ever had a hot and fresh mochi donut, and it’s life-changingTheir ramen also slaps, we like the noodle texture :))
