Dine-In Service: The restaurant offers a cozy and intimate dine-in experience. It's described as having a "cute, romantic ambiance with fairy lights," making it ideal for dates or small gatherings.
Takeout Options: For those who prefer to enjoy their sushi at home or at a nearby park, Elephant Sushi provides convenient takeout services. Orders can be placed directly via phone or through their online ordering system.
Delivery Service: Elephant Sushi partners with various delivery platforms (such as Seamless, Grubhub, and Postmates), allowing San Francisco locals to have their fresh sushi delivered right to their doorstep.
Omakase Experience: While the traditional Omakase (chef's choice tasting menu) is offered, it's a high-end service, signifying the restaurant's commitment to showcasing the freshest and best ingredients. They offer "Omakase Nigiri (10pcs)" and "Omakase Sashimi (14pcs)", providing curated selections for a truly special experience.
Beer & Wine Selection: To complement their exquisite menu, Elephant Sushi offers a selection of beer and wine, enhancing the overall dining experience for patrons.
Vegetarian and Pescatarian Options: The menu includes a variety of choices suitable for different dietary preferences, such as the "Green Machine" (a vegan roll) and numerous fish-based options.
Elephant Sushi distinguishes itself with a remarkable array of features and highlights that consistently earn rave reviews from San Francisco locals:
Unmatched Freshness of Fish: This is the absolute cornerstone of Elephant Sushi's reputation. Customers repeatedly emphasize the incredible freshness, with descriptions like "salmon and tuna just melted and glided over my tongue" and remarks about the fish being so fresh they "had to look twice to make sure the fish was really dead." This commitment to quality fish truly sets them apart.
The Famous Flaming Sea Bass Roll: A definite showstopper and a must-try. This roll is not only "sooo good" but also provides a captivating "spectacle" as it's brought out to the table and lit on fire. It's an innovative, warm, and rich cooked roll that offers a unique culinary experience, making it highly memorable for diners.
Innovative and Delicious Specialty Rolls: Beyond the Flaming Sea Bass, Elephant Sushi offers a diverse and creative selection of rolls. Mentions of the "Chef Ochko roll" (hamachi belly, blue crab, avocado), "Ya Man Roll" (King salmon, avocado, fried red onion chips, truffle oil), and "Red Dragon" (shrimp tempura, spicy Bluefin tuna) highlight their ability to combine unique flavors and textures into incredibly satisfying creations.
High-Quality Sashimi and Nigiri: For purists, the sashimi and nigiri are top-tier. Reviews specifically praise the "buttery sake (salmon) sashimi" and the quality of various fish used for nigiri, underscoring their commitment to exceptional raw fish preparations.
Attentive and Friendly Service: The staff at Elephant Sushi receive consistent compliments for being "friendly and helpful," with service that is "truly appreciated." This creates a welcoming and pleasant dining environment that enhances the overall experience.
Charming and Intimate Ambiance: Described as having a "cozy and intimate dining experience" with a "cute, romantic ambiance with fairy lights," Elephant Sushi is perfect for a special date night or a relaxed dinner. While it's a "relatively small" space, this contributes to its warm and inviting feel.
Unique Starters and House Specialties: The menu extends beyond sushi to include intriguing appetizers like "Chips N Dip" (shrimp chips with spicy tuna) and "Hamachi Truffle" (seared yellowtail with truffle oil), as well as "Yummy Pockets" (spicy bay scallops in tofu pockets), showcasing a broader range of Japanese-inspired delights.
Elephant Sushi, with its reputation for high-quality, fresh ingredients and unique culinary experiences, tends to focus more on the value delivered through its exceptional food rather than frequent, large-scale discounts. However, for locals looking for opportunities to maximize their dining experience, there are often inherent "specials" through their curated offerings and strategic timing of visits:
Chef's Daily Specials: While not explicitly detailed as a constant promotion, restaurants of this caliber often feature daily or seasonal specials based on the freshest catches available. These "daily specials" can include unique fish or creative rolls that are not part of the regular menu, offering a novel experience for returning patrons. It's always a good idea to inquire about these upon arrival.
Omakase Selections: The Omakase Nigiri and Omakase Sashimi combinations, while a premium offering, can be considered a bundled value. By allowing the chef to select the best fish of the day, diners receive a curated experience that often provides a broad taste of the restaurant's best at a set price, which can be more economical than ordering numerous high-end items à la carte.
Bundled Appetizer Options: Items like the "Fab 4" (two blue crab handrolls and two ocean trout handrolls) or "Couple of Babes" (two blue crab handrolls) serve as mini-samplers or bundled options, offering a taste of popular items at a convenient price point, implicitly functioning as a special offer for a quick, delicious start.
Off-Peak Seating Advantage: While not a discount, the advice to "arrive outside the busy eating hours for impromptu seating" can be a perk for locals. Dining during quieter times might allow for more relaxed service and a more intimate experience, which can be seen as a form of added value.
For the most current information on any rotating specials or unique menu additions, San Francisco locals are always encouraged to check Elephant Sushi's online ordering platforms, social media, or call the restaurant directly.

Elephant Sushi Reviews
I’ve never had sushi this fresh before. The salmon and tuna just melted and glided over my tongue. I even had to look twice to make sure the fish was really dead — that’s how fresh it was! (Just a little joke.)I eat sushi often, but I’ve never had it this fresh anywhere else.Compliments to the restaurant — and the service was truly appreciated as well!
May 26, 2025 · tay uWent for a work dinner so got to try a big portion of the menu. We ordered exclusively sushi, and it was all really really delicious and fresh. Hard to say what is shown in these pics because I didn't order it, but honestly I feel like you can't go wrong if you order sushi that optimizes for quality fish. The one everyone remembers is the flaming sea bass roll! It's so cool, they bring it out to you on a tray of oil that they light on fire to cook it. It's sooo good. Get it if you can! Will definitely return if I'm back in SF soon.
Nov 25, 2023 · Kristina InouyeVery delicious meal. The miso soup was amazing. Each roll seems very intriguing and interesting. I got the White Dragon roll and it was really good. It doesn't seem like a lot of food, but honestly 1 roll was more than enough. Service was super fast too. Nice for a quick bite.
Jul 26, 2023 · Nicole AuritiThis place was way overpriced for what you get. The rolls had no flavor and the tuna tataki for $30 was horrible. The flavors were off and you could hardly taste the tuna. The saving grace was 2 negiri’s were actually really good. Definitely not worth the price. Also the waitress was really nice :)
Sep 27, 2023 · mitchThe food was really great, fresh fish with the right amount of rice. Its a popular place and maybe that's why service feels a little rushed and even unfriendly at times.
