Endo Introduce
For Texans seeking a truly distinctive and intimate Japanese culinary adventure, Endo in Austin offers an experience unlike any other. This unassuming yet exceptional omakase sushi bar, led by the renowned Chef Endo Yasuhiro, brings a meticulous approach to traditional Japanese cuisine with a touch of personal flair. If you're looking to elevate your dining expectations with expertly crafted sushi, innovative dishes, and truly personal service, Endo is a destination that promises to leave a lasting impression.
Endo distinguishes itself by prioritizing the pure essence of traditional Japanese techniques and the freshest ingredients. Chef Endo, who honed his skills at the iconic Sushi Nakazawa in New York City, curates an omakase experience that celebrates simplicity and the purity of ingredients. This means diners are treated to a carefully selected progression of dishes, often served directly by the chef, allowing for a deep appreciation of each bite.
Upon entering Endo, which might seem "very unassuming" from its strip mall exterior, you're immediately transported into a different vibe. The welcoming host sets the tone, doing "a very good job at remembering the party's names and seating arrangements." The experience begins in a waiting area where guests can relax with drinks before being seated at the counter, a design choice that adds to the intimacy and anticipation of the omakase. The chef's personal touch is a consistent highlight, with one reviewer noting that he "really had a great time with each and every piece of Sushi that was provided." Beyond the food, the beverage program is equally impressive, with a bartender capable of making "really on point drinks," including a "very tasty" Mescal Margarita.
Customers celebrating special occasions, such as a 30th wedding anniversary, have described the experience as "excellent," starting with a complimentary sake and progressing through delectable courses like Uni, pork belly, yama imo, and a variety of pristine sushi items including pomfret, sea eel, barracuda, fatty tuna, bluefin tuna, sea trout, and A5 Wagyu. The meal culminates with delicate desserts like miso soup and Japanese flan-like pudding. Perhaps the most "unexpected" highlight is Chef Endo himself, who occasionally grabs an electric guitar to "blast some Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes," transforming the dining experience into a truly one-of-a-kind event. Diners leave not just with a "full belly" but with "personalized wooden coasters" and a sense of having made "new friends," unequivocally recommending the experience "again and again."

Their cocktail menu, featuring "on point" drinks like the Mescal Margarita, is designed to complement the delicate flavors of the sushi.
Sake Pairing Option: For a truly immersive experience, guests can opt for a sake pairing with their omakase, which includes multiple pours distributed across the courses, enhancing the flavor profiles.

Endo offers several unique features and highlights that make it a truly memorable Japanese dining destination in Austin:
Chef-Driven Omakase Experience: At the heart of Endo is the omakase, meticulously curated by Chef Endo Yasuhiro, who brings expertise from renowned establishments like Sushi Nakazawa. This ensures a consistent focus on traditional techniques, purity of ingredients, and exceptional flavor profiles.
Exceptional Fish Quality: Chef Endo prioritizes expertly sourced fish, utilizing ancient techniques like zuke and salt water curing to enhance natural flavors. Reviewers highlight the "perfectly assembled" bites and the freshness of a wide variety of fish, including bluefin tuna, sea eel, and barracuda.

Unique Ambiance and Intimacy: Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior offers a "different vibe"—clean, minimalist, with industrial touches and a sleek sushi counter. The intimate, limited seating (10 guests at a time) fosters a social dining experience where guests can interact with the chef and each other.
Impressive Beverage Program: The custom bar features an array of rare Japanese whiskies, top-rated sake, and local/Japanese artisanal beers. The "on point drinks" and thoughtfully curated sake pairings are designed to complement the omakase.
Surprising Musical Performances: A truly "unexpected" highlight is when Chef Endo sometimes grabs an electric guitar and performs, adding a memorable, personal, and entertaining element to the evening that delights diners.
Thoughtful Details and Souvenirs: Leaving with "personalized wooden coasters" and a sense of having made "new friends" speaks to the attention to detail and the memorable nature of the experience beyond just the food.
Endo offers specific pricing structures for its omakase experience, which can be viewed as distinct offers based on the number of courses and the day of the week. While traditional "discounts" in the sense of a percentage off a regular menu might not be applicable to their fine dining omakase model, the varying price points represent different levels of experience:
16-Course Omakase: Priced at $99 per person for a limited time, this option is typically available on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings at 4:00 PM (excluding gratuity and tax). This provides a more accessible entry point to Chef Endo's culinary artistry.
20-Course Omakase: Priced at $150 per person for a limited time, this more extensive option is generally offered on Friday and Saturday evenings (excluding gratuity and tax). This allows for a deeper and broader exploration of Chef Endo's creations.
Complimentary Welcome Sake: Reviewers mention being offered a "complimentary Sake" upon arrival in the waiting lounge, which sets a welcoming tone for the experience.
Sake Pairing: While an add-on cost, the sake pairing is a curated "offer" that enhances the omakase by providing perfectly matched beverages, elevating the overall culinary journey.
Given the exclusive nature of omakase dining, it is recommended to check Endo's official website or OpenTable for the most current pricing, availability, and any additional details regarding their offerings, as these prices are often "limited time" and subject to change.

Endo Reviews
When you first visit this place it is very unassuming. It's sort of in this strip mall that really doesn't call out what it really is, although it does have some wood paneling to make it stand out from the rest of the strip mall. You go inside and you're definitely going to feel a different vibe. The host is very friendly and welcoming. They do a very good job at remembering the party's names and seating arrangements. The chef is very friendly and really had a great time with each and every piece of Sushi that was provided. The bartender was able to make some really on point drinks including the Mescal Margarita which was very tasty. Is it the best Omakase sushi that you can get in the area? No. However, their attention to detail and friendliness definitely is something that you should give them a try.I really like that they had us get our party together and seated in the waiting area to loosen us up a little bit of course with some drinks. Then seated us out the counter where we were served our Sushi.I would definitely recommend going here just for the experience and service. I'm so lucky to have such a variety of places to go for sushi that it takes a lot for places to stand out.
April 14 · Tony TrinhWe went to Endo on a recommendation from a neighbor for our 30th wedding anniversary. Turns out that we were the only party for early dinner on a Tuesday and we were not prepared for the excellent experience. We were greeted upon arrival and sat in the lounge with a complimentary Sake. We ordered the omakase experience with the sake pairing; Every bite was perfectly assembled right in front of us by chef Endo himself. We started with an Uni, pork belly and yama imo dish and a unique glass of mushroom scented sake followed by two delectable sushi bites, then masago and more several more sushi items (pomfret, sea eel, barracuda, fatty tuna, blue fin tuna, sea trout, A5 Wagyu and others). The last couple of items were a delicate miso soup and a Japanese flan like pudding. Finally, and most unexpected was when Chef Endo grabbed an electric guitar and took to the stage blasting some Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes. We left with personalized wooden coasters, a full belly and admiration for a one of a kind Omakase experience & new friends. Chef Endo and his staff are the best! We highly recommend and will be back again and again!
May 14 · Mark SalisburyFrom the customized coaster to the electric guitar show at the end by chef Endo, everything was perfect! Loved all the fresh ingredients and simply delicious meals. We were really impressed with all 20 courses in our omakase experience.
March 23 · Jill Goehring - Houston RealtorTruly one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had! My boyfriend and I went here for our 5 month anniversary and it was such a great experience for us both. The fish was fresh, flavorful and unlike anything id ever had before. We were lucky enough to sit in front of chef Endo and he was just full of fun stories and cultivated the experience to be as amazing as it was. We opted for the $99 course with the sake pairing for us both. I also added on sea urchin and wagyu with caviar and both were simply divine and worth the extra cost. The end of the night finished with the chef playing guitar for the restaurant and I thought this was the perfect way the carry out the evening.Would recommend this omakase to any sushi lover!
