Fish and Bowl Reviews
Wow this gem of a place is so uniquely amazing! While they have great sushi and other Japanese food selection, the star of the place is undoubtedly the Hainan Chicken Rice. The Hainan Chicken rice dish is legit (trust me as I've prompted many food hawkers in Singapore including the famous Tian Tian in Maxwell food centre). The rice is fragrant and delicious. The steamed chicken is cooked perfectly. You can also have the chicken fried or if undecided you can have the combination which is half steamed and half fried. The fried chicken batter is crispy, light and seasoned just right, like a very good chicken karaage. They provide you with generous amount of sauce. There are 3 kinds of sauces: the irresistible ginger sauce, the spicy soy sauce (similar to that of Khao Man Gai Thai style chicken rice), and the sweet one for the fried chicken. The ambience is cozy with a few small tables and cutely decorated. Mar 09, 2025 · Michael WinardiThis has been by far the most unwelcoming experience ever. Right when you enter on the please be seated sign it says “closed” when I asked if they are open the girl wouldn’t even respond just pointed at the tables as if I’m supposed to know. Not once a hello or anything she just threw a menu at us. We ordered a Katsu curry to share when I asked for an extra plate instead of ordering because my husband and I are sharing she looked annoyed. We asked for the restroom we were redirected to the Vietnamese restaurant next door that seemed to have the same attitude. Never once did she actually check up on us. Refilled our water only once when we were practically done with our meal. The entire time she was in her phone as pictured with the white arrow. Bad etiquette all around.
Oct 24, 2024 · Bellamy Rose YehAte here 3 times in a week I liked it so much. They have a variety of different Japanese dishes so there is something for everyone. I tried two types of Udon, Unagi bowl, 6 different rolls, chicken rice, and the katsu curry. It was all delicious. Can't wait to try something different the next time I go.
Mar 27, 2025 · Jen SI ordered take out from this place. I think the storefront marketing could be better. It’s interesting that they serve mainly japanese cuisine plus a thai dish together.I love thai chicken rice and I think this place does it decently. I got the chicken combo and it came with 3 delicious sauces and a cup of chicken broth. It was packed with chicken but I wish it came with a bit more rice. The sushi is not bad for the price too. I would definitely order from here again!
Sep 24, 2024 · Andrew NThe fried hainan chicken and rice is SO GOOD!!!!!! also comes with a small soup. Next time i would buy extra sauce bc the ginger/scallion and the spicy garlic one are really good. The fried chicken comes only with the sweet sauce. The spicy tuna roll was also great, bigger pieces than I expectedI tried the pork belly rice bowl and the katsudon when they first opened, didnt love it as much as the hainan chicken.
