If you’re a local who appreciates a cool vibe, a bit of an "Instagramable" presentation, and the thrill of discovering a rising star, Florakai Sushi is a place you'll want to explore.
Florakai Sushi isn't just about the food; it's about the entire discovery and dining atmosphere. This multi-faceted venue creates a dynamic environment where you can enjoy your sushi and then perhaps grab a drink or explore other offerings, making for a truly engaging outing.
While one review mentioned that some traditional items like Tuna Maki were "not excellent" and the "sushi rice doesn’t have the best flavor," it's crucial to highlight the glowing praise for other elements. The consensus points towards specialty rolls and the overall experience. Specifically, the Shaggy Roll comes highly recommended, and one reviewer boldly declared their California roll "bussin" and the "best sushi I've ever had." The visually appealing presentation, with dishes "looking instagramable," adds another layer to the appeal. Florakai seems to be carving out its niche by offering a fresh perspective on sushi within a lively, burgeoning local hotspot, making it a place many Houstonians will be "grateful to have eaten here before it's more mainstream."

Florakai Reviews
The sushi was good - but not excellent. Tuna Maki did not test great (probably because how tuna was cut). And the sushi rice doesn’t have the best flavor. However, would still recommend their Shaggy Roll. The soy sauce in plastic bags is just inconvenient packaging.
Jul 16, 2024 · Anton S.Best sushi I've ever had. California roll is bussin. Came out looking instagramable. The new building houses this kinda food court, the name isn't obvious from the street but the restaurant is in the big food court esque eatery. Very cool vibe , a few restaurants and bars to peruse. Yeah, when construction finishes this is gonna be a really lovely addition to the midtown - Montrose neighborhoods. Very grateful to have eaten here before it's more mainstream, I was the only person in the dining room the entire meal, which was honestly really nice. Would come again.
Mar 14, 2024 · Ethan HaddonFood poisoning warning! I wouldn’t normally post a review that is negative but feel like other people need to be warned. I have been on sashimi kick lately so twice a week I’ve ordered from somewhere. I usually order one day from one we’ve had already then the second time we will try something new. The photos looked great. We should have known something was wrong initially when we were unable to locate a phone number to contact the business to add more items to our order… what company does not have a way to contact them listed anywhere? The food arrived via Uber eats within 20 minutes so that was awesome. We were happy to try a new restaurant. Unfortunately, the quality was sub par. Fresh tuna, salmon and yellowtail does not have a salty, shrimpy flavor… As you can see from the photo it appeared pretty in a floral shape but these thin slices were the sashimi platter (lacking in both quality and quantity). The shaggy dog and rock and roll sushi rolls were also off-putting as of maybe the mayo used had gone bad. I could tell immediately something was wrong and chose not to eat anymore after my first bite of each to try them so my body has since purged what little I did eat. My other half however is stubborn and has never gotten sick from food before…Now he feels like he is dying. An hour of his system purging this food and trying but can’t even keep down electrolytes. At this point, I’m trying to talk him into going to urgent care to get medication bc he sounds as bad as when I went to Mexico and accidentally swallowed some water while brushing my teeth years ago. Really nice concept but unless you want to have shooting stomach pains, cold sweats and be purging from both ends, I do not recommend trying this place. We will be sticking to jellyfish, sushi pop, kinokawa & other places where quality never has to be questioned.
Apr 21, 2024 · Leslie SmithThis new sushi place became my and my fiancee favorite pick. All of their sushi rolls are amazing with a fusion of mexican. They have one that looks like have pico de gallo on top and is chef's kiss. They cook infront of you and they're friendly. I love discovering this sushi spot! We go at least once a week
Nov 18, 2023 · VictoriaI ordered some sushi via UberEats with the Buy-One-Get-One deal. The sushi was so good!!! By far the best sushi I've had. It was warm and tasted really good. Definitely will order from here again!
