Gachi Sushi & Noodles

8000 Essington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153, USA

3.0
This is prepackaged airport sushi, so I am judging it as such.I had the crunchy California roll, veggie gyoza, seaweed salad and raspberry lemonade. The gyoza was freshly made, hot and very oily. The flavors were good but a couple were busted. The raspberry lemonade was delicious but the crunchy boba sticks inside tasted like they were peach flavored. The seaweed salad was good very well done. The flavors were great. The size was about average. The crunchy California roll was good (for prepackaged sushi). They included very little ginger. So I could only add it to three of the slices.Everything came in different two part plastic containers. It was kind of expensive for what I got, but again, I'm in an airport... So...The service was fast and pleasant, but not super friendly. It is 8 at night though and their kitchen is closing. - Ancilleno Davis

Gachi Sushi & Noodles Introduce

For those of us in Pennsylvania who frequently travel through Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), or are simply picking up or dropping off loved ones, finding a reliable and satisfying meal option can sometimes be a challenge. That's where Gachi Sushi & Noodles comes in. This Japanese-inspired eatery has become a go-to for many travelers and airport personnel alike, offering a fresh and convenient solution for those craving sushi, noodles, or a refreshing drink while navigating the bustling airport environment.

Gachi Sushi & Noodles understands the unique needs of an airport setting. They aim to provide quick, efficient service without compromising on flavor, offering a range of sushi rolls, noodle dishes, and other Japanese-inspired fare that is both appealing and practical for travelers. Whether you're looking for a light bite, a more substantial meal, or just a delicious beverage to quench your thirst, Gachi has something to offer.

While operating within the confines of an airport, Gachi strives to deliver quality that stands out from typical grab-and-go options. The focus is on providing enjoyable and freshly prepared items, ensuring that even amidst the rush of travel, you can find a moment to savor a good meal. It's the kind of place that can turn a potentially stressful travel moment into a pleasant culinary interlude.

Location and Accessibility

Gachi Sushi & Noodles has multiple convenient locations within the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), specifically at 8000 Essington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153, USA. You can find Gachi outlets across various terminals to serve travelers wherever they might be in the airport:

  • Terminal E: Near Gate E6 (also listed as E3 by some sources).

  • Terminal A-West: Near Gate A19 (also listed as A18).

  • B/C Connector: Within the Food Court area.

Being located directly within the airport terminals, Gachi Sushi & Noodles is highly accessible for passengers both pre- and post-security, depending on the specific location. For those simply visiting the airport (e.g., picking up/dropping off), access to the post-security locations would require a boarding pass. However, these multiple points of presence ensure that no matter which concourse you're in, a Gachi is likely nearby.

While the address provided (8000 Essington Ave) is the general airport address, the key for locals and travelers is to note the terminal and gate numbers for the specific Gachi outlet they wish to visit. Given its airport setting, parking is available via the airport's various parking garages and lots.

Services Offered

Gachi Sushi & Noodles, operating within a busy airport environment, focuses on providing fast, convenient, and satisfying meal solutions. Their services are tailored to the needs of travelers and airport staff:

  • Dine-In/Counter Service: Most Gachi locations within the airport offer a combination of counter service for quick ordering and some dedicated seating areas (like sushi bars) or access to general food court seating. This allows customers to eat on-site before or after their flights.

  • Grab-and-Go Options: Recognizing the need for speed in an airport, Gachi offers pre-packaged sushi rolls, salads, and other items for quick grab-and-go convenience. This is ideal for those with limited time before boarding.

  • Made-to-Order Items: While they have grab-and-go, some items like gyoza are freshly made, hot, and available upon order, providing a warmer option. Sushi rolls can also be made fresh upon request at some locations.

  • Takeout: All food is essentially packaged for takeout, making it easy to carry onto your flight or consume at your leisure within the airport.

  • Diverse Menu: Gachi offers a range of Japanese and Asian-inspired dishes beyond just sushi, including:

    • Sushi Rolls: A variety of classic and specialty rolls (e.g., Crunchy California Roll, Veggie Roll, Spicy Shrimp Tempura, Gachi Roll, Logan Roll).

    • Noodle Bowls: Options like Yakisoba (chicken, shrimp) and Ramen (Miso, Tonkotsu, Abura Soba), and Udon Soup.

    • Rice Bowls: Including Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, and Sweet & Sour Chicken.

    • Starters & Salads: Seaweed Salad, Calamari Salad, and various Gachi/Oriental salads. Kitchen appetizers like Gyoza are also available.

    • Beverages: A wide selection of drinks, notably boba teas (Thai Tea, Taro, Peach Fruit Tea, Strawberry Tea with strawberry boba) and other non-alcoholic options.

  • Vegan Options: The restaurant offers vegan-friendly choices, such as veggie gyoza and the option to add fried tofu to noodle and rice bowls, catering to various dietary needs.

Features / Highlights

Gachi Sushi & Noodles, operating within the unique environment of Philadelphia International Airport, offers several features that make it a notable stop for travelers and airport staff:

  • Convenient Airport Location: With multiple outlets across different terminals (A-West, B/C Connector, E), Gachi is highly accessible for passengers throughout PHL. This widespread presence makes it a reliable option regardless of your departure or arrival gate.

  • Fresh and Satisfying Sushi (for an airport setting): Many reviews highlight the quality of the sushi "for prepackaged airport sushi" or as "decent." Some describe the salmon poke bowl as having "fresh salmon" and the pre-made rolls as "unexpectedly delicious." The crunchy California roll and seaweed salad are often praised for their good flavors.

  • Variety of Japanese-Inspired Dishes: Gachi goes beyond just sushi, offering a selection of noodle bowls (ramen, yakisoba, udon), rice bowls (teriyaki, sweet & sour chicken), and appetizers like gyoza. This provides diverse options for different cravings.

  • Delicious Boba Teas: A significant highlight, especially for drink lovers, is their selection of boba teas. Reviewers specifically mention the "raspberry lemonade" with boba sticks (though sometimes peach-flavored) and the "mango fruit tea" as "really good." The ability to get a fresh Thai tea with black boba is also noted as a positive service aspect.

  • Fast and Pleasant Service: Operating in a high-traffic environment, Gachi is recognized for its "fast and pleasant" service. The staff, while not always "super friendly" (especially late at night), are generally efficient and accommodating, even making fresh drinks upon request, which is highly appreciated.

  • Freshly Made Hot Items: While much of the sushi is pre-packaged for quick sale, items like the gyoza are "freshly made" and "hot," offering a warm and savory option.

  • Vegan/Vegetarian Options: Gachi offers vegetarian options like veggie gyoza and the ability to customize noodle and rice bowls with fried tofu and without eggs, which is a good feature for those with specific dietary needs.

It's important for customers to set realistic expectations for airport dining, as noted by one reviewer regarding pricing and the nature of pre-packaged items. However, within this context, Gachi consistently delivers a commendable experience for many.

Promotions or Special Offers

As an establishment operating within an airport, Gachi Sushi & Noodles' promotions are typically geared towards convenience and quick service rather than extensive, traditional restaurant specials. However, travelers might find value through:

  • Combo Meals: Their menu often features combinations of sushi rolls with sides or appetizers, which inherently offer a certain level of value compared to ordering items individually. While not explicitly advertised as "specials," these combos are a common way for airport eateries to provide complete meals efficiently.

  • Frequent Traveler Programs / Airport-Specific Deals: Occasionally, airport retailers participate in loyalty programs or offer limited-time deals tied to specific airport promotions or credit card partnerships. It's always worth checking airport digital screens or information kiosks for any current PHL-wide dining offers that Gachi might be part of.

  • Pre-order for Pickup: While not a discount, the convenience of pre-ordering through platforms like Grab (if available at their specific PHL location) allows travelers to save time, which is a form of value in a busy airport.

Given the nature of airport operations, it's best to check the menu boards directly at the Gachi locations within the airport for any immediate specials, or inquire with the counter staff. Online menus via airport dining directories (like PHL Food & Shops) might also list current offerings.

Contact Information

For inquiries about Gachi Sushi & Noodles at Philadelphia International Airport, or to confirm their operating hours at a specific terminal location, you can use the following details:

  • Main Phone: (215) 365-7419 (Note: This number is often associated with the Terminal A-West location. Other terminal locations may have slightly different direct lines).

  • General Airport Address: 8000 Essington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153, USA

Due to multiple locations within the airport, checking the specific terminal or concourse information on the PHL Airport website or app is often the most accurate way to find the Gachi nearest to you and its specific operating hours.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Pennsylvania locals who find themselves passing through Philadelphia International Airport, Gachi Sushi & Noodles is an incredibly suitable and highly convenient dining option. It effectively addresses the unique challenges of airport dining by providing fresh, flavorful, and relatively quick Japanese-inspired meals.

Its primary suitability comes from its multiple strategic locations across PHL terminals. This ensures that whether you're departing from Terminal E or arriving in A-West, a Gachi is within reach, offering a welcome respite from typical airport fare. The ability to grab freshly made or conveniently pre-packaged sushi and other Japanese dishes means you can enjoy a satisfying meal even with limited time.

Moreover, the positive feedback on items like the "delicious" gyoza, "good" seaweed salad, and especially the "really good" boba teas, demonstrates Gachi's commitment to quality beyond just the sushi rolls. The efficient and pleasant service, even during busy periods, is a significant plus, ensuring a smooth transaction when time is of the essence.

While airport pricing is a given, the overall sentiment is that Gachi provides a commendable culinary experience within its context. For locals seeking a reliable, fresh, and enjoyable Japanese meal option while traveling through PHL, Gachi Sushi & Noodles is a highly recommended stop that can truly enhance your airport experience.
