Hibachi Ko Introduce
For residents of North Bay Village and the surrounding areas in Florida, the quest for convenient and delicious Japanese cuisine often leads to exploring various takeout and delivery options. One such establishment that appears on food delivery apps is Hibachi Ko, located at 1665 79th Street Causeway. While the allure of quick Japanese food at home is undeniable, it's important for locals to have a clear understanding of what to expect from such services. Hibachi Ko presents itself as a Japanese restaurant offering a range of hibachi, sushi, ramen, and other Japanese-inspired dishes for delivery and pickup.
In the modern culinary landscape, the rise of "ghost kitchens" or "virtual brands" has become more prevalent. These are food service businesses that operate solely for delivery or takeout, often from shared kitchen spaces, and sometimes as a department or offshoot of a larger, established restaurant. Several customer reviews indicate that Hibachi Ko in North Bay Village may operate in this capacity, potentially linked to a well-known national Japanese chain, Benihana. Understanding this operational model is key for local customers, as the experience might differ significantly from a traditional dine-in restaurant. This article aims to provide a factual overview of Hibachi Ko based on available public information and customer feedback, helping Floridians make informed choices for their Japanese food cravings.
Hibachi Ko is situated at 1665 79th Street Causeway, North Bay Village, FL 33141, USA. The 79th Street Causeway is a significant thoroughfare connecting North Miami Beach to Miami Beach, making this location accessible for a broad range of residents in the area. This strategic placement allows for relatively quick delivery times to various surrounding neighborhoods.
Given that Hibachi Ko appears to primarily function as a takeout and delivery-focused operation, the accessibility relates less to physical dining-in and more to the ease of ordering and pickup/delivery. The address suggests it is part of a commercial complex along the causeway, which typically offers parking for those opting for pickup. For delivery, its central location on a major road facilitates efficient service to North Bay Village, parts of Miami Beach, and possibly other nearby areas. Customers would interact with the establishment primarily through food delivery apps or phone orders. While the convenience of its location for delivery is evident, customers should be aware that it might not be a traditional restaurant with a dedicated dine-in space for the public, which is a common characteristic of virtual brands.
Hibachi Ko, as a delivery and takeout-centric Japanese food service, offers a menu designed for convenience and a broad range of Japanese-inspired dishes. Based on public menus available through delivery platforms, their services include:
Takeout and Delivery: This is the primary mode of service. Customers can place orders through popular food delivery applications like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub, or potentially by calling directly. The focus is on preparing meals for consumption off-site.
Varied Japanese Menu: The menu includes a selection of Japanese staples. This typically features:
- Hibachi-style dishes: Including various protein options like chicken, steak, and shrimp, often served with fried rice and vegetables. For example, "Spicy Chicken Fried Rice" and "Steak Fried Rice" are listed. They also offer "Party Size Meals" for larger orders.
- Sushi and Sushi Burritos: While specific rolls were mentioned in the provided reviews, general menu items often include basic rolls like "California Roll" and "Philadelphia Roll," along with more unique offerings like "Hibachi Burritos" (e.g., "Hibachi Shrimp Burrito" and "Hibachi Steak Burrito" which wrap hibachi fried rice and protein in a tortilla).
- Ramen: Different ramen options are available, such as "Spicy Chicken Ramen," "Chashu Pork Ramen," and "Spicy Chili Garlic Ramen."
- Bowl Entrees: Dishes like "Chicken Teriyaki Bowl" and "Shrimp Teriyaki Bowl" served over rice.
- Appetizers and Sides: Common Japanese appetizers like "Edamame," "Spicy Garlic Edamame," "Pork Gyoza," "Shrimp Tempura," "Spring Rolls," and "Chicken Tenders" are offered.
Customization Options: For hibachi meals and certain other items, customers often have choices regarding proteins and sauces. For example, wings can come with various sauce options like Black Pepper Teriyaki, Sesame Garlic, or Spicy Sauce.
Based on available information and customer feedback, here are some key features and highlights associated with Hibachi Ko:
Delivery-Focused Model: Hibachi Ko primarily operates as a delivery and takeout service. This offers convenience for locals wanting Japanese food delivered directly to their homes, especially important in South Florida's busy lifestyle.
Broad Menu Selection: The menu encompasses a wide variety of Japanese and Asian-inspired dishes, from hibachi and fried rice to sushi, ramen, and appetizers. This diverse offering aims to cater to different tastes and cravings.
Connection to a Larger Brand: Multiple customer reviews mention that Hibachi Ko operates as a "ghost kitchen" or "delivery front" for Benihana. This implies a potential connection to the Benihana brand's culinary standards, though the execution can vary.
Fried Rice Variety: Hibachi Ko offers several fried rice options, including "Spicy Chicken Fried Rice," "Steak Fried Rice," "Chicken Fried Rice," and "Shrimp Fried Rice," which are central to many hibachi-style meals.
Sushi Burritos: A unique offering is the "Hibachi Burrito," which combines hibachi fried rice, protein (steak, chicken, or shrimp), and teriyaki glaze wrapped in a tortilla. This innovative item caters to a modern, convenient eating style.
It is important to note that while some customers have reported positive experiences with specific dishes, others have expressed significant concerns regarding food quality, missing items, and customer service issues, as detailed in the provided reviews. These experiences suggest inconsistency in delivery service and food preparation.
As a virtual brand primarily operating through food delivery platforms, Hibachi Ko's promotions and special offers are often managed directly through these platforms rather than through the restaurant itself. Locals looking for deals would typically find them via:
Platform-Specific Deals: Delivery apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub frequently offer promotions such as "Buy One, Get One Free" on specific items, percentage discounts on orders over a certain amount, or reduced/free delivery fees for subscribers (e.g., DashPass, Grubhub+). For instance, some Hibachi Ko locations (though not explicitly confirmed for the North Bay Village location in the provided snippet) have been seen offering "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" on items like "Steak Fried Rice," "Chicken Fried Rice," and "Shrimp Fried Rice."
First-Time User Discounts: New users to a particular delivery platform, or those ordering from Hibachi Ko for the first time through a specific app, might be eligible for introductory discounts or credits.
Seasonal or Flash Promotions: Delivery platforms may run limited-time promotions around holidays or specific events, which could apply to orders from Hibachi Ko.
To discover any active promotions, Floridians should consult the respective food delivery apps (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub) and search for "Hibachi Ko" in their area. These apps are the most direct source for current pricing and any applicable deals, as the restaurant does not appear to maintain a separate public-facing website with promotions.
For residents in Florida looking to contact Hibachi Ko in North Bay Village, or place an order, the primary contact methods are as follows:
Address: 1665 79th Street Causeway, North Bay Village, FL 33141, USA

Given that Hibachi Ko operates as a takeout and delivery-focused establishment, it is most common for customers to interact with them through online food delivery platforms. However, the provided phone number can be used for direct inquiries regarding orders or menu items. It's important to remember that since it may be a virtual brand, direct customer service or issue resolution might sometimes involve the delivery platform's support channels as well.
For locals in North Bay Village, Florida, and the surrounding areas, Hibachi Ko presents itself as a convenient option for Japanese cuisine, primarily through takeout and delivery. Its suitability for residents largely hinges on the specific needs and expectations of a fast-paced, urban environment where convenience is highly valued.
The broad menu, encompassing hibachi staples, various fried rice options, sushi, and ramen, caters to a wide range of preferences, making it a versatile choice for families or individuals with diverse tastes. The ability to order from major delivery platforms means that a Japanese meal is just a few taps away, fitting seamlessly into busy schedules where cooking is not an option. For those seeking a quick and easy solution for dinner or lunch, particularly when looking for specific hibachi-style dishes or unique items like sushi burritos, Hibachi Ko aims to fill that niche.
However, it is crucial for Floridians to approach Hibachi Ko with an understanding of its operational model as potentially a ghost kitchen for Benihana, and to manage expectations regarding consistency and potential service issues that have been noted in some customer reviews. While the convenience of direct-to-door delivery is a significant draw, locals are advised to check recent reviews on delivery apps to gauge current service and food quality. For residents prioritizing quick delivery of a varied Japanese menu, Hibachi Ko offers a functional solution within the bustling North Bay Village area, providing an accessible option for those seeking Japanese flavors from the comfort of their homes.

Hibachi Ko Reviews
I wish I had read the one review on this takeout from Benihana somehow showing up as a separate restaurant all together in food delivery apps. Was ready when I got home here to pick up but the food was AWFUL. The spicy fried rice w chicken tasted terrible, the sushi had this bitterness to it and I got a pretty basic roll, the spicy edamame was edamame soaked in some kind of supermarket ready to go spicy sauce that was probably heated in the microwave and tossed on top. Last but definitely NOT LEAST, cockroach walked right out of the bottom of the empty paper bag in which all of this food was given to me. This place deserves foreclosure.
December 17 · Andrea AsbunThis place is an absolute CIRCUS. It’s some sort of delivery front/department for Beni Hana. Order was 20 mins late, employees arguing with each other. I feel bad for them but do NOT get carry out.
June 01 · Artur GlantsVery delicious. Great service. I will be back.
