Hikaru Ramen Reviews
I was passing through and decided to stop by on my way home. I walked in right after another couple, so I didn't receive the warm greeting they did. I sat at a table and waited for the waiter to come with a menu so I could order. I ended up getting a seaweed salad and a spicy tonkatsu ramen with bok choy, menma and an extra seasoned egg. The seaweed salad was good, nothing fancy. The ramen wasn't bad, but it wasn't spicy, which I was hoping for, and the broth didn't have the same complexity of developed flavors as some other broths I've tried around the metro. Also, I didn't know there would be a lot of raw onion in there and would have preferred less in my bowl. When I had a spoonful, the raw onion overpowered the broth and all I could taste was onion for a few bites on my palette. The chashu, I found it to be a bit difficult to eat, as I was expecting it to be a bit softer to chew. Now that seasoned egg cooked perfectly, but to cut it with the chopsticks wasn't practical. If it came already cut in half, I would have appreciated that element more. I loved the menma, and found it to be a great addition in my bowl. This element added the complexity to my bowl that I was sorely missing from the broth not being spicy and the presentation. All in all, a decent bowl of ramen, but not tasty enough where I would go out of my way.
Jan 06, 2025 · Abby RobbieI've been here a few times so I think it deserves a well rounded review. The service is always speedy and helpful when you only have an hour for lunch. The food is delicious as you see below Ive had the spicy chicken curry ramen which is my favorite but also the black tonkotsu ramen is also very delicious! The atmosphere is also very serene and clean. I definitely recommend giving this fine restaurant a chance and lots of love!
Feb 05, 2025 · Nathaniel WilliamsThe place looks very clean from the inside and outside, and the server was very bright and greeted us with a smile. The menu price is pretty decent. Went there for dinner, We ordered gyoza, French fries, salad, spicy miso ramen and tonkatsu ramen, which came with bamboo shoot, seaweed, eggs and meat. The bamboo had a very nice crunch and very tasty and the egg was perfected, it was creamy and tasty. the salad delicious with the sauce. Pork Gyoza is tasty too. Some miso ramen are quite salty but this one is not. Their ice tea is pretty refreshing as well.
Dec 03, 2024 · songxian liI never leave bad reviews or feel the need to bash any establishment however, today I had an unbelievable experience. My friend and I walked in at 2:20pm today and we were poorly greeted by a lady with glasses who asked if we were doing takeout. I responded with “actually are we able to dine in” she literally said “we’re closing at 3pm but I guess if you eat fast”. Ten minutes from walking in and being sat, they turned off the music. I was so shocked by this. However, we did really enjoy our food despite the bad service and feeling very unwelcome. The lady no longer wished to serve us and passed us onto another gentleman who brought our check before we requested it. We pay cash……and he literally brings back the nickels and pennies. He says “tip is not included”. I always tip especially since I work in the service industry myself. However, this time I felt so bad and my experience was really awful so I chose to not tip on the service. He sees us walking out and actually says “don’t come back”. We parked in front of the building so as we’re getting in the car he proceeds to come outside and yell at us “don’t ever come back!” I was so appalled by the unprofessionalism and audacity. It’s such a shame since this was our first time here and we actually enjoyed the food but I will not be giving them my business again.
Apr 30, 2025 · Kilee ArrendaleUpdate May 2025. Dropping to 3 stars. Notice the difference between my picture 3 years ago and the picture today. Quite a decline.Definitely room for improvement on the service and the presentation but the broth is excellent. They really skimped on the included toppings. There's potential but they have a ways to go..............Very decent ramen. Good rich broth. I would like a spicier option. I got the spiciest ramen and asked for extra spicy in the notes but it was barely spicy at all. Also, it would be really nice to have kakuni on the menu as an add-on option (braised pork belly). Will order again. Definitely better than average.
