We started with the appetizers like the shishito peppers, which had the perfect amount of heat, and the sushi was incredibly fresh and flavorful. They make their own wasabi. The music was a bit too loud and more suited to an evening vibe- not ideal for lunch, but not disruptive enough to complain about.Service was friendly, and the food came out quickly.We ordered the Shishito ($12), Karaage ($14), Makimono Set ($18)and the Chicken Katsu Don ($15). Everything was good. The Shishito dish looked small at first but ended up being more substantial than expected.The not-so-good:We asked for some sauce with the rolls and were offered Unagi Sauce and Spicy Mayo. We accepted both, only to later find out they were added to the bill (!!!) without mention of an extra charge, and despite not being listed on the menu. That felt off.Desserts were a major letdown. The Soy Milk Panna Cotta was basically a chunk of tofu, and the Yuzu Cookie was a plain sugar cookie with a barely noticeable citrus aftertaste. Neither worth ordering.Also, their drink prices are over the top. A single beer cost more than my main dish.

The scallop roll was quite good, I’d definitely order it again and try some additional dishes. I also really liked the salmon dip and the lychee martini. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Thin, tender slices of octopus went so well with refreshingly tart ponzu sauce, thinly sliced crunchy red onions, and herbaceous shisho. TCD tuna toro was tasty and fun to eat but the fish had an unpleasant fishy aftertaste that lingered. The rice was seasoned well but lacked a bit of the characteristic stickiness of sushi rice. My friend liked their chicken katsudon and seasonal black forest kakigori from the dinner Southport set. The space was really cute but it was a bit too loud for us.

It was pretty full so a reservation is needed!We tried several items in the menu: first, the nigiris: hamachi (yellowtail), akami (tuna), otoro, unagi (eel). Everything was excellent, particularly the otoro and unagi.Then we moved to the makis: we had the scallop and the shiitake. The shiitake was a good surprise, crunchy and with a lot of flavor.Then the hot menu: the gyozas that had foie gras and the beef chahan. The gyozas were good but we didn’t think they had enough foie gras, you could barely taste it. The beef chahan was very good, highly recommend.The service was very professional and the restaurant is not that big so it gives an intimate experience.Pricing is what you would expect for sushi in Chicago (check the menu).Overall, very good place.
