Joy Teriyaki offers a casual and straightforward dining environment. Some customer feedback suggests the interior may be "dirty and very outdated," indicating a need for refreshment. However, for many, the focus remains on the food and the convenience of a quick meal. The restaurant is primarily a counter-service establishment, catering to customers looking for a no-frills, efficient dining experience. While it may not offer an elaborate ambiance, it serves its purpose as a functional space for enjoying familiar teriyaki and Chinese-inspired dishes.
Service at Joy Teriyaki appears to be characterized by a hardworking approach, particularly from the front-of-house staff. One review mentions feeling "bad for the lady that took our order" because "she was trying to keep up with the tables and taking orders," suggesting that the staff strive to manage demand despite potential challenges. This indicates a dedication to serving customers efficiently. While there's no extensive feedback on personalized service or detailed interactions, the core focus seems to be on getting orders processed and food delivered to patrons in a timely manner.
Joy Teriyaki's menu centers around popular Japanese and Chinese-American comfort food, offering a range of dishes that many diners find satisfying and flavorful. Customers have noted that the food is generally "good and fresh," exceeding expectations. The portions are typically generous, providing good value for the price.
Key features and popular items on their menu include:
Teriyaki Dishes: As the name suggests, teriyaki is a staple here. Options typically include Chicken Teriyaki, which is a widely popular choice. Other variations often feature Beef Teriyaki, Pork Teriyaki, and possibly Tofu Teriyaki, usually served with steamed rice and a side salad.
Chinese-Inspired Chicken Dishes: Beyond teriyaki, Joy Teriyaki is known for its classic Chinese-American offerings. Customers specifically mention enjoying General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken, which are celebrated for their flavors and freshness. Other common options in this category might include Sesame Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, and Kung Pao Chicken.
Wok Dishes and Fried Rice: The menu likely includes a variety of stir-fried dishes and fried rice. Options often encompass Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Fried Rice, Pork Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Combination Fried Rice. Similarly, stir-fried noodle dishes like Yakisoba with various proteins (Chicken, Beef, Shrimp) are typically available.
Appetizers: Common Japanese and Chinese appetizers such as Gyoza (potstickers), Egg Rolls, and possibly Spring Rolls or Crab Rangoons are usually featured to complement main courses.
Vegetarian Options: While not explicitly detailed, the presence of Tofu Teriyaki or vegetable-based stir-fries would typically provide options for vegetarian diners, catering to diverse dietary needs.
One review, however, mentioned a negative experience with "tiny little shrimps that all had poop in them," describing them as "so unappetizing." This indicates that while many find the food fresh and good, there can be inconsistencies in quality or preparation, which is an important point for potential diners to consider.
Joy Teriyaki's primary appeal lies in its straightforward approach to popular Asian comfort food, offering familiar dishes at an accessible price point. While specific promotional offers aren't detailed in the provided information, the value for money and the satisfying nature of the meals are likely key draws for customers. The restaurant caters well to those seeking a quick and easy meal solution, whether for lunch or dinner.
It's important for potential customers to set their expectations regarding the ambiance, as some feedback points to a less updated interior. However, for many, the focus remains squarely on the food itself, which is often described as fresh and enjoyable. The presence of both phone and mobile phone numbers suggests easy access for placing takeout orders, which appears to be a significant part of their business.
In conclusion, Joy Teriyaki in Bremerton offers a convenient option for those craving classic teriyaki, General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, and other popular Asian dishes. While the dining environment may be basic, the food is generally well-regarded for its freshness and flavor, and the portions offer good value. Joy Teriyaki Reviews
I didn't expect much going in, but we really enjoyed the food here. Teriyaki, General Tso, and Orange Chicken. Everything was good and fresh. Recommended!
Mar 03, 2025 · Steve OdyWe are moving to Bremerton and tried this place . NEVER AGAIN….. Tiny little shrimps that all had poop in them (I expect it to a point, but so unappetizing). Restaurant was dirty and very outdated. I felt bad for the lady that took our order. She was trying to keep up with the tables and taking orders.

May 13, 2025 · Kate Santillan1/03/2021Today my husband and I decided to re-try Joy Teriyaki. My last two experiences with them, which happened to be eight or nine years ago was less than satisfactory, I vowed then it would be a very long time until I tried them again. With our normal Chinese food place, Golden Star, still being temporarily closed we decided today to take the leap and try Joy Teriyaki once again and we felt they redeemed themselves so we will be willing to try them again in near future. So, today I ordered General Tso's Chicken with white rice, and my husband ordered Yakisoba noodles with white rice.Since General Tso's chicken can change some depending on what region it comes from, I have no way of comparing it with what may be truly an authentic General Tso's; my comparison is between what I have tried or experienced locally.General Tso's today was intricate but satisfactory. There was plenty of meat, veggies, some sweetness, and a noticeable background of rice vinegar that made this dish more tangy than sweet. I do miss having a little bit of heat, IMO this General Tso's had no heat.Yakisoba Noodles is what my husband ordered, of course, we shared.I enjoyed the noodles, we both did, pleasant flavoring and enough sauce to make the noodles pliable!Again, Yakisoba noodles can be made a little differently depending on the area and the restaurant itself; some restaurant makes it with oyster sauce others prefer umami flavoring, in all honesty, I couldn't tell, they were just good! This time around, we chose not to try the Asian coleslaw that came with the meals. To me, the pricing seemed in accordance with the local area, decent size for a lunch, and depending on how large of an eater you are, it may be a decent size for a dinner as well!Joy's restaurant, what I could see of the inside appeared clean, but slightly dated. A large portion of the restaurant was blocked off to discourage people from eating or gathering inside, the only thing I found a little obtrusive was the corkboard with a lot of business cards on it, I really do understand why people do it, especially nowadays with so many lost jobs, you really do have to put yourself out there in any way possible; competition is fierce, none the less it looked a little bit out of place IMO.The person that took our order, was friendly, funny, and polite and cheerful, thank you for that! For anyone who is not aware of the location of Joy Teriyaki, they are located in the Fred Meyer shopping area. 5050 WA-303 Suite 105 in Bremerton.Since Joy Teriyaki shares a parking lot with several other businesses like Fred Meyer, Little Caesars Pizza, Subway, Great Clips, and more, depending on the time of day or if it's a Holiday the parking can become treacherous but most of the time you'll be able to find some parking. In my opinion, if you haven't tried Joy Teriyaki you should if for no other reason you will be supporting a small local business and small businesses could really use the extra help!Happy 2021!!! Remember Covid is affecting everyone, so please stay safe and stay healthy!!!
