Our family of three—my husband, my son, and I—visited Kado no Mise on Easter Sunday and selected the most premium omakase experience. Several of the nigiri pieces had a noticeably fishy taste, which was unexpected based on our past experiences, especially in Japan where the fish tends to be naturally sweet and clean in flavor. The tiny squid in the appetizer course also had a strong flavor that made it less enjoyable.That said, there were some standout items we truly enjoyed—the toro (though slightly fishy), anago, and A5 wagyu were especially memorable for their texture and taste.One small detail we also noticed: the final sake in the pairing was missed with our last course. We greatly enjoyed the beautiful selections of fresh fish, savory miso soup, bright teas, and sorbet for dessert. I can't remember which fish was which, but each one was delicate and delicious - various tunas and mackerel and squid and cornet and so much more. I would highly recommend for an elegant evening. And the whiskey bar across the hall is worth a stop, too!

I felt immediately welcomed and cared for before we even sat down with wait staff taking our coats and guiding us to our seats. As someone who was looking for a traditional Japanese sushi experience it was just what I was looking for. I can understand how people who maybe don’t know what that looks like or how subdued and focused the flavors are with traditional sushi might be let down by the experience. Don’t expect spicy mayo, sugary glazes and explosive flavors. The focus is the fish and the rice. I also highly recommend the optional sake pairing.
