Kobuta & Ookami Katsu and Sake house Introduce
Located at 17026 Avondale Way, Redmond, WA 98052, USA, Kobuta & Ookami Katsu and Sake House stands as a distinctive culinary destination for those seeking an authentic taste of Japan. As a specialized Japanese restaurant, it offers a focused menu centered around katsu and sake, distinguishing itself from more general Japanese eateries. While the platform category is "Doctor Near Me," typically associated with healthcare services, for individuals looking to satisfy specific cravings for well-prepared Japanese comfort food and a genuine dining experience, Kobuta & Ookami can certainly be considered a "Doctor Near Me" for their gastronomic desires, providing a unique and satisfying remedy for hunger.
The environment at Kobuta & Ookami Katsu and Sake House is a significant draw, contributing immensely to its appeal. Customers have described the atmosphere as "very Japanese," evoking a sense of being transported directly to Japan. The experience of "sitting by the bar made me thought for a second that we were in Japan" highlights the authenticity and immersive quality of the decor and setting. Despite potentially struggling to find parking in the provided lot, the effort is often rewarded by the interior ambiance. The restaurant is also noted as being "very kid-friendly," accommodating families with young children, which speaks to its welcoming and inclusive nature. The quick pace at which the place gets full suggests a lively and popular spot, indicating a dynamic dining atmosphere that many appreciate. The attention to detail, such as being "cognizant about the amount of people in your party," further contributes to an organized and pleasant dining experience.
The services at Kobuta & Ookami are consistently praised for their friendliness and attentiveness. Reviews mention "friendly service" and a "wonderful experience" overall. The staff's willingness to accommodate customer preferences, such as moving from high chairs to a bar seat for comfort, demonstrates a commitment to ensuring diner satisfaction. This level of personalized service enhances the dining journey, making guests feel valued and comfortable. While specific details about reservation policies aren't provided, the advice to "expect to wait at least 30 minutes" on Friday or weekend evenings, and to "come early," suggests that walk-ins are welcome but planning ahead for popular times is advisable. The restaurant's phone number, (425) 522-4612 or +1 425-522-4612, is available for direct inquiries, providing a convenient way for customers to connect.
Kobuta & Ookami's features are primarily centered around its specialized menu and the quality of its offerings. The restaurant prides itself on its katsu dishes, with particular mention of the "Miso Hire Katsu." This dish is highlighted for its unique "hacho miso based sauce," which is distinctly different from standard tonkatsu sauce. This special sauce is described as having a "slightly sweet flavor (not too sweet!!) but savory as well," making it a perfect accompaniment to the katsu. Beyond katsu, the menu also features other enticing dishes such as "nabe kurobuta" and "special unagi katsu." The nabe is noted for its "amazing flavor and generous portion," with "a lot" of broth filled with ingredients like "egg, napa cabbage, seaweed, and yu choy." The unagi katsu is similarly lauded as "absolutely delicious!" with the unagi sauce served "on the side," allowing diners to customize their experience. This attention to flavor, portion size, and distinct menu items sets Kobuta & Ookami apart.
However, recent customer feedback also highlights a potential area of concern regarding portion consistency. A loyal customer noted that "the size of our tonkatsus was noticeably smaller than previous times we would visit." While this is a single instance of feedback, it suggests that the restaurant might be experiencing variations in portion sizes, which can impact customer perception of value over time. Despite this isolated comment, the overwhelming sentiment remains highly positive, with customers consistently recommending the establishment to "anyone who wants Katsu" and expressing their intention to "definitely come back in the future." This indicates that the core quality and flavor of the food largely outweigh any minor inconsistencies for most diners.
From a promotional perspective, Kobuta & Ookami's strongest assets are its authentic Japanese atmosphere, friendly service, and, crucially, the "amazing food." The genuine enthusiasm of customers who declare they "would definitely come back" and "recommend to anyone who wants Katsu" serves as invaluable word-of-mouth marketing. The unique offerings, such as the distinct Miso Hire Katsu sauce and the well-regarded Nabe Kurobuta, create a strong culinary identity that draws in specific crowds. While explicit promotional offers aren't detailed, the overall positive dining experience, from the immersive ambiance to the delicious food and welcoming staff, acts as a powerful continuous promotion. The fact that the restaurant gets "full quick" is a clear indication of its popularity and success in attracting and retaining customers, reinforcing its status as a highly sought-after dining spot in Redmond. The emphasis on being "kid-friendly" also widens its appeal, making it a viable option for family outings and further extending its reach within the community. For those seeking a specific type of Japanese comfort food, Kobuta & Ookami truly functions as a "Doctor Near Me," delivering a delightful and memorable culinary experience.

Kobuta & Ookami Katsu and Sake house Reviews
Came for an early dinner, kind of struggled to find parking in the parking lot provided but luckily we did get a spot. We got in and got sat on their high chairs, but it felt uncomfortable so we asked to sit somewhere else and we got to sit by the bar. They were being cognizant about the amount of people in your party as the place got full quick! The atmosphere was very japanese, sitting by the bar made me thought for a second that we were in Japan. Very kid-friendly as we saw a few families with young kids. We ordered nabe kurobuta and special unagi katsu. Both has amazing flavor and generous portion. The amount of broth in nabe was a lot, and it was filled with egg, napa cabbage, seaweed, and yu choy. The unagi katsu came with the unagi sauce on the side, it was absolutely delicious! Wonderful experience, friendly service, amazing food! We would recommend to anyone who wants Katsu and would definitely come back in the future!
Mar 06, 2025 · Claudia RuslanI always love going to Kobuta & Ookami for the Miso Hire Katsu! It comes with a hacho miso based sauce which is different from the normal tonkatsu sauce. The sauce has a slightly sweet flavor (not too sweet!!) but savory as well which goes really well with the katsu. Though when I visited recently, my party and I noticed that the size of our tonkatsus was noticeably smaller than previous times we would visit T^TFyi if you plan on going on a Friday evening or a weekend evening, expect to wait at least 30 minutes, so come early!

Feb 20, 2025 · Angie HuangI've been eating Ookami tonkatsu since the Seattle branch opened, and it's the only place I go when I crave tonkatsu. Since the Redmond branch opened, I've been visiting it every two weeks. The staff is always friendly, and the taste has been consistent. However, during my recent visit, I ordered hirekatsu, and it had a strong pork smell. The meat seemed to be pieced together from leftover scraps rather than being the usual oval-shaped cut. The portion size was also small and thin, not plump like usual. It was sliced flat and in an odd shape. The meat's texture was rough and so chewy that it was hard to swallow. Normally, the meat has a dense cross-section, is plump, tender, and juicy. You can see the difference by comparing the photos of the meat above and below.Ookami is one of my favorite restaurants, and I want to continue visiting. I hope you can pay more attention to the quality of the meat.
Mar 29, 2025 · Melissa haperWent here for dinner on a Friday night. It's good that we had a reservation for dinner because the place was packed with wait-list!Our group was large and some were about 15 min late and they kept our table, which was very nice. They usually seat us when the party is all there, but they accommodated us when around 80% of our guest was there! This is our second time. Food is generally good, but doesn't have the wow factor that would get us to come back again and again. Here's the food review. We tried all the cut from the iberico, to the kurobuta, and the least expensive the rosu. My favorite was actually the Rosu, the lowest one. Rosu is the fattiest cut, so there's more flavor and it's tender! I can't see myself paying more for the iberico etc since the price difference for the amount of meat is unjustified.Out of the styles of katsu, I like Nabe the least for some reason. I think katsu is more enjoyable when eaten Crispy. So katsu curry, orishi, katsudon etc is all better than Nabe in my opinion. If you are craving katsu and you are in the area, give this place a try!
