Kojin isn't just another restaurant; it's a testament to culinary artistry and a commitment to food sustainability. Locals have been "blown away by the variety and depth of flavors" in their dishes, noting how every aspect of the experience, from the ambiance to the attentive service and beautifully presented plates, leaves a lasting impression. In a market like Miami, where a single dish can often come with a hefty price tag, Kojin's 6-course fixed menu offers "incredible value," making exceptional fine dining accessible to more patrons. This dedication to excellence, paired with an intimate and cozy atmosphere, creates a dining experience that awakens all the senses and encourages guests to savor every moment.
The passion and vision of Chefs Pedro and Katherine Mederos are evident in every plate. Their commitment to sourcing the highest-quality ingredients, whether local Florida produce or imports from Japan, ensures a fresh and vibrant taste. With a growing reputation and consistent praise, it’s no surprise that many patrons wouldn't be surprised to see Kojin earn a Michelin star in the near future, solidifying its status as one of South Florida's premier culinary destinations.
Kojin is ideally situated at 804 Ponce de Leon, Coral Gables, FL 33134, USA. This address places it at a prominent location within Coral Gables, on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, which is a major thoroughfare. The restaurant is described as being "on the corner of 8th St and Ponce De Leon at the entrance of Coral Gables," making it easily identifiable and accessible for residents from various parts of Miami-Dade County.
For Floridians, accessibility is key, and Kojin's location offers convenience. While Coral Gables is a busy area, reviews indicate that "abundant street parking is available," which is a significant advantage for diners. This means less time circling for a spot and more time to enjoy the dining experience. Being on a main road also ensures that it's simple to reach by car. The general elegance and walkability of Coral Gables also add to the overall appeal of visiting Kojin, allowing for a pleasant stroll before or after your meal.
Kojin offers a distinct dining experience with a focus on curated menus and personalized service:
- Fixed-Menu Dining: Kojin primarily offers a multi-course fixed menu (e.g., a 6-course option), designed by Chefs Pedro and Katherine Mederos to take diners on a culinary journey. The menu changes, emphasizing seasonal and carefully sourced ingredients, often blending modern American cuisine with Japanese influences.
- A La Carte Options: While the fixed menu is a highlight, Kojin also provides an à la carte menu with starters like Kojin Salad, Foie Toast, Osaka Chicharrones, and Mains such as Truffle Chicken, Niman Ranch Short Rib, Hamachi Collar, and Golden Tilefish.
- Desserts: Culinary creations by Pastry Chef Katherine Mederos are available, with unique offerings like Spring Blondie, Yesterday's Breakfast (sustainable donuts and ice cream), and Chocolate Tart.
- Intimate Dining Atmosphere: The restaurant is described as "small," creating an "intimate, cozy atmosphere" that enhances the dining experience. Reservations are highly recommended due to the limited seating.
- Personalized Attention: Staff are friendly and attentive, and the owners, Chefs Pedro and Katherine, often personally check on tables, adding a significant touch of hospitality. Customers are encouraged to trust staff recommendations.
- Private Events and Catering: Kojin offers catering services for a limited number of events each season and provides private party facilities, allowing guests to book the space for group lunches or private dinners.
- Lunch and Dinner (Limited Hours): Kojin is open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM. While earlier concepts included lunch, the current Coral Gables location primarily focuses on dinner service.
Kojin stands out in the competitive South Florida dining scene with several key features and highlights:
- Exceptional Culinary Artistry: Led by Chefs Pedro and Katherine Mederos, Kojin is known for "bold cooking that takes risks while delivering approachable dishes." Their culinary creations are often described as "curated artwork," appealing to an "adventurous palate."
- Incredible Value Fixed Menu: The 6-course fixed menu at $85 per person is repeatedly highlighted as "incredible value," especially given the high quality, generous portions, and the typical pricing of fine dining in Miami.
- Attentive Service and Owner Presence: The staff is consistently praised for being "friendly" and "attentive." A significant highlight is when "the owner personally came to our table to check on us," creating a warm and welcoming experience.
- Intimate and Cozy Ambiance: Despite being a small restaurant, the "intimate, cozy atmosphere" contributes to a truly enjoyable and personal dining experience, making reservations a must.
- Commitment to Food Sustainability: Chefs Pedro and Katherine Mederos are "culinary artisans committed to food sustainability," reflecting a conscious approach to sourcing ingredients.
- Michelin-Recommended Status: Kojin has earned a "Michelin Recommended" status, an indicator of high-quality cooking and a strong possibility for future Michelin star recognition, which customers also predict.
- Unique and Creative Dishes: The menu features innovative and memorable dishes, blending Japanese influences with modern American cuisine. Examples include Foie Toast, bone marrow panna cotta, and creative desserts.
- Generous Portions: Despite being a multi-course fixed menu, customers note that the "portions were very generous," ensuring guests are "completely satisfied" by the end of their meal.
As a restaurant focused on a curated fine dining experience, Kojin’s promotions tend to revolve around its fixed menus and special events rather than daily deals. However, for locals in Florida, here are potential avenues for special offers:
- Fixed Menu Value: The 6-course fixed menu itself, priced at $85 per person, is already considered an "incredible value" by patrons, especially compared to à la carte pricing at similar high-end establishments in Miami. This serves as a standing "promotion" in itself.
- Taste the Gables – Restaurant Month: Kojin is listed as a "Michelin Recommended" participant in Coral Gables' "Taste the Gables – Restaurant Month," occurring in July. During this month-long culinary celebration, participating restaurants often offer special lunch menus starting at $30 and dinner menus starting at $45, among other promotional offers. This would be a prime opportunity for locals to experience Kojin's cuisine at potentially special price points.
- Seasonal Menu Changes: While not a "promotion" in the traditional sense, Chef Mederos and his team frequently make "little changes to the menu" based on seasonality and creativity. This keeps the dining experience fresh and exciting for returning patrons.
- Private Event Custom Menus: For catering and private parties, Kojin works with clients "to create custom menus that keep your team happy and fueled — no stress, just great food" and to "craft a menu that fits in your budget for large orders."
For the most up-to-date and specific details on current menus, pricing, and any seasonal or event-based offers, it is highly recommended that Floridians visit Kojin’s official website or make reservations through platforms like OpenTable, where they can often view the current offerings.

Kojin Reviews
We recently had dinner at Kojin and opted for the 6-course fixed menu, and we were blown away by the variety and depth of flavors in each dish. From the moment we stepped in, everything impressed us—whether it was the ambiance, the attentive service, or the beautifully presented dishes. The restaurant is small, so reservations are a must, but the intimate, cozy atmosphere made for a truly enjoyable experience. The portions were very generous, and by the time we finished the 6 courses, we were completely satisfied. At $85 per person, the fixed menu was an incredible value, especially considering that in Miami, a single dish at other places can easily cost $50-$60. The staff was friendly, and it was a nice touch when the owner personally came to our table to check on us.It’s clear that the team at Kojin is striving for excellence, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they earn a Michelin star in the near future. The only downside was the cold temperature inside the restaurant—so I’d recommend bringing a jacket to stay comfortable.Overall, we’ll definitely be returning soon!

May 25, 2025 · Christine MooreCompliments to the chef!!!!! I must add a side note, I visited the restaurant with a very, no... EXTREMELY picky eater and she literally ate everything! The flavors were absolutely delicious, the quality and presentation, superb! I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service, specially Valentina, was thoughtful, courteous, and gave stellar recommendations! Overall, 10 stars!!!!!
Mar 12, 2025 · Nilsa BravoWow! Everything we tried was fantastic! Valentina and the rest of the crew were all super professional and friendly. We probably had like 5 people that interacted with us and all of them were stellar. The spiced rye bread with cultured butter and goat cheese with honey is to die for❤️❤️❤️. My wife got the Swordfish and she said was incredible (she is not a fan of Swordfish). I got the ShortRib and the flavor was unbelievable and the big hit was the celery mash under it🤯🤯. The pic is not great because the greens on top of it. The Squid flavor was amazing, a little bit on the pricey side. The Chocolate tart, one of the best in Miami. In general, amazing!
Mar 29, 2025 · Carlos E. CaballeroWe had high expectations for Kojin, but the overall experience was disappointing. While service began attentive and friendly, it noticeably declined as the evening progressed. We observed another table receiving a bottle of champagne for a birthday celebration, while our anniversary was acknowledged only with a card — a gesture that felt inconsistent and selective. The food, unfortunately, did not meet expectations. Many dishes arrived cold or at room temperature. The bread was overly toasted with minimal rye flavor, although the butter and goat cheese accompaniment was solid. The chicharron was acceptable but lacked a meaningful pairing with the ranch dip. The crudo was particularly underwhelming; the fish was diced into small cubes, making it difficult to appreciate its quality, and overshadowed by the other ingredients. For the mains, the maitake mushroom was serviceable but lacked the depth and umami typically associated with well-prepared mushrooms. The risotto was overly salty, overwhelming any intended balance. Most disappointing was the pork belly, served cold and extremely dry — surprising given the forgiving nature of the cut. While the plating and presentation were visually appealing, the flavors and execution consistently fell short. Kojin shows potential, but in its current form, it struggles to deliver an experience that matches its ambition.
