Kombu Introduce
For New Yorkers navigating the newly revamped LaGuardia Airport, finding a quick, convenient, and satisfying meal is always a priority. Located within the bustling Terminal C Food Hall, Kombu aims to provide travelers with an accessible option for Japanese and Asian-inspired cuisine. Positioned among a variety of other eateries, Kombu offers a range of dishes designed for those on the go.
Kombu is part of the larger culinary landscape at LaGuardia, which has seen significant investment in offering diverse dining choices to travelers. While airport dining often comes with its own set of expectations and challenges, Kombu endeavors to serve a quick bite or a more substantial meal for passengers awaiting their flights. It offers dishes that are commonly sought after by those looking for Asian flavors, from sushi rolls to noodle dishes, aiming to cater to the fast-paced environment of one of New York City's major travel hubs.
Kombu is strategically located within LaGuardia Internal Rdwy/Term C Loop Food Hall Gates, C28 - C29, East Elmhurst, NY 11371, USA. This places it directly within the main food hall area of LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C, making it highly accessible to passengers who have cleared security and are awaiting their flights. Terminal C is a modern facility that serves Delta Airlines, amongst others.
Accessing LaGuardia Airport is facilitated by various transportation options from across New York City. The M60 SBS bus provides a direct link to Manhattan subway lines, and numerous local MTA bus routes serve the airport from Queens and Brooklyn. Taxis and ride-sharing services also offer direct drop-offs and pick-ups at the terminal. Once inside Terminal C, the Food Hall is a central feature, designed for easy navigation. Kombu's location within this vibrant food hall environment allows travelers to quickly locate and access its offerings while transitioning between flights or preparing for departure. Given its position post-security, only ticketed passengers or those with special access to the concourse will be able to dine at Kombu.
As an establishment within a busy airport food hall, Kombu's services are primarily geared towards quick and efficient dining for travelers.
- Counter Service / Quick Service Restaurant (QSR): Kombu operates as a quick-service establishment. Customers order at a counter, and food is prepared for fast pick-up, catering to the limited time many travelers have before their flights.
- Dine-in (Food Hall Seating): While Kombu itself might not have dedicated private seating, it is located within a food hall that provides communal seating areas. This allows diners to find a spot to enjoy their meal before proceeding to their gate.
- Takeout / Grab-and-Go: Many of Kombu's offerings are designed for convenient takeout, allowing travelers to grab their food and head directly to their gate or enjoy it on their flight.
- Lunch and Dinner Service: As an airport concession, Kombu operates during broad hours to accommodate travelers throughout the day, typically from early morning until late evening, aligning with flight schedules in Terminal C. Some airport eateries open as early as 4 AM and close as late as 11 PM.
Kombu, as part of the dining options at LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C, offers specific features and a menu designed to cater to the needs of travelers.
- Japanese and Asian-Inspired Cuisine: Kombu focuses on a menu that includes popular Japanese dishes, notably sushi, alongside other Asian-inspired options like Pad Thai. This provides a familiar and often comforting choice for many international and domestic travelers.
- Variety of Sushi Rolls: The menu includes various sushi rolls, offering a quick and convenient way to enjoy sushi on the go. Examples from other Kombu menus suggest options like California Rolls, Tuna Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls, and specialty rolls.
- Noodle and Rice Dishes: Beyond sushi, Kombu offers cooked entrees such as Pad Thai noodles and other Asian-style dishes, catering to different preferences for warm meals. Some menus indicate options like Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, and Vegetable Curry, along with various Katsu and Tempura plates.
- Small Plates and Appetizers: A selection of smaller dishes is available, perfect for a quick snack or to complement a main meal. These can include items like Edamame, Gyoza, Karaage Chicken, and various tempura options.
- Convenient Airport Location: Being situated within Terminal C at LaGuardia means easy access for Delta and other airline passengers, allowing them to grab a meal without leaving the secure area.
- Quick Service Model: Designed for efficiency, Kombu aims to provide relatively fast service, which is crucial for travelers with limited time before boarding.
- Part of a Larger Food Hall: Being in a food hall environment offers travelers the flexibility to mix and match items from different vendors or for groups to choose different cuisines, while still sitting together.
Within the unique environment of an airport food hall, traditional daily promotions or loyalty programs are generally not as prevalent as in standalone restaurants. However, Kombu's inherent "special offer" to New York travelers lies in its convenience and accessibility to familiar Asian cuisine within LaGuardia Airport.
The value proposition for Kombu primarily stems from:
- Efficiency for Travelers: The main benefit is the ability to quickly get a Japanese or Asian-inspired meal in a high-traffic airport setting, often as a faster alternative to sit-down restaurants.
- Range of Options in One Place: As part of the Terminal C Food Hall, Kombu offers a specific type of cuisine within a larger hub of diverse food choices, allowing travelers to satisfy specific cravings for sushi or noodles without leaving the terminal.
While specific dollar-off deals or combo promotions might not be explicitly advertised, the very nature of airport dining means that the convenience of having these options readily available is a primary "offer." Travelers are often willing to pay a premium for speed and accessibility in this context. For current menu items and pricing, passengers should consult the digital menus available at the food hall or inquire directly at the Kombu counter. Any short-term specials would typically be advertised on-site.
For direct inquiries about Kombu at LaGuardia Airport, given its location within a large terminal, direct phone lines for individual concessions are often not publicly available. However, you can use the airport's general information resources or simply visit the location within Terminal C.
- Address: LaGuardia Internal Rdwy/Term C Loop Food Hall Gates, C28 - C29, East Elmhurst, NY 11371, USA
- General Airport Information: For general inquiries related to LaGuardia Airport services, including food options, you can typically find information on the official LaGuardia Airport website or by calling the general airport information line.
As a food hall vendor, Kombu is designed for walk-up service, and direct contact numbers for placing orders are generally not provided. Travelers typically approach the counter to order upon arrival in the Food Hall.
For New York locals, especially those frequently traveling through or working at LaGuardia Airport, Kombu offers a pragmatic and convenient dining solution within a high-stress environment. While airport dining can be hit or miss, Kombu’s suitability for locals lies in its role as a quick, accessible option for familiar Asian flavors.
Firstly, its location within the newly transformed Terminal C Food Hall is a key advantage. For New Yorkers rushing to catch a flight, the ability to quickly grab a sushi roll or a bowl of Pad Thai without having to leave the secure area or navigate far from their gate is a significant convenience. This ease of access caters directly to the fast-paced lives of city residents.
Secondly, Kombu provides a specific cuisine option within a diverse food hall. While some may critique specific dishes, the mere presence of Japanese and Asian-inspired food, including sushi and noodles, is valuable for travelers with those particular cravings. It broadens the culinary landscape available at the airport beyond typical American fast-casual options, allowing New Yorkers to stick to their preferred dietary choices or cultural flavors even when traveling.
In the context of airport dining, where time is often of the essence and options can be limited, Kombu serves a practical purpose. It offers a quick-service model that prioritizes speed, which is crucial for locals needing to fuel up efficiently before their journey. While the reviews provided highlight some negative experiences, the role Kombu plays in offering a specific cuisine type within a highly trafficked area makes it a relevant and often utilized option for New Yorkers navigating LaGuardia Airport.

Kombu Reviews
Horrible food - the sushi roll for $12 was worse than and day old grocery sushi - I can’t say it had bad flavor because there wasn’t enough fish to even taste the roll. Tried the pad Thai equally bad dish with no flavor at all - avoid this over priced failure of a place.

May 06, 2025 · Scott BodeRenovated! Wow, LGA has upped it’s game. With the LGA renovations comes a lot more improved food options. We weren’t expecting much from the food court near the Delta terminal C Gates 60-69. All cooked-to-order food kiosks have a screen pad ordering and payment system. We selected Kombu and ordered a beef ramen and California roll. You can watch the chefs making your food. The ramen broth was remarkable good with a good portion of noodle – some of the beef was a little fatty but overall it was a tasty solid dish (let alone for airport food). California roll was well proportioned, roll was a little on the larger side and wrapped inside out but a nice portion of crab and avocado in the roll. Very impressed with quality and taste of food for airport food. Chuko wasn’t nearly as good but was solid for airport food and had a nice seating area. Kombu food was good for any place and we will definitely order from here again. This food court has multiple hot food options - tacos, burgers, ramen and falafel. The Jersey Mike’s was not open – in fact, it looked new like only the counters were installed. So no sandwiches except nasty old pre-made refrigerated sandwiches. We were concerned about how long the hot food would take to prep. Kombu did a good job of preparing the food in a reasonable amount of time.
Sep 16, 2024 · A MThis place is actually closed down but there is another ramen restaurant in Terminal C next to Essex Burger called Chuko Ramen that is phenomenal! I hadn’t had Ramen in about 3 or 4 years and this hit the spot before my flight! I ordered the Sesame Garlic Ramen and it was absolutely delicious! All orders are through the QR codes on the tabe and the food came out pretty quickly! I loved the vibe of the place and was by far one of the better places to eat in the LGA airport!
Jun 14, 2024 · Silas SmithI ordered chicken and broccoli pork fried riceThe rice was submerged in oil was really bad I got stomachache. The cook did not have gloves and was touching the food, I didn't appreciate his hygiene prior to make the food plus he was on the phone.
