Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is designed to offer a modern, interactive, and efficient dining experience with several distinctive services:
- Revolving Sushi Bar (Kaiten-zushi): The signature service, where plates of sushi and other small dishes rotate on a conveyor belt past your table. You simply pick what looks good to you! Each plate is consistently priced at around $3.40.
- Tablet Ordering: In addition to the revolving belt, each table is equipped with a tablet for direct ordering. This is ideal for specific items not currently on the belt, larger dishes like noodles or soups, or if you prefer to have your food delivered fresh from the kitchen.
- Robot Servers: Adding to the fun and unique experience, robots are often on hand to deliver drinks, sauces, and other ordered items directly to your table, minimizing human interaction and maximizing novelty.
- Prize Machine (Bikkura Pon): For added entertainment, Kura features a "gum ball" style machine at each table. By depositing empty plates (typically 15), diners can earn prizes like keychains or small building packets, making it particularly engaging for families and children.
- Takeout/Pickup & Delivery: While the in-person experience is a highlight, Kura also offers options for takeout and delivery, allowing you to enjoy their menu at home.
- Happy Hour: Kura offers specific Happy Hour times (Monday-Thursday 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM) with discounts on select appetizers, sushi, rolls, and alcoholic beverages (drink purchase required).
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar distinguishes itself with a blend of technological innovation, entertainment, and culinary offerings, making it a unique dining spot in Kansas City. Here are some of its key features and highlights:
- Interactive Conveyor Belt Dining: The defining feature is the revolving sushi bar, allowing diners to pick fresh plates as they pass by. This creates a fun and dynamic atmosphere, perfect for a unique date night or group outing. Each plate from the belt is generally priced at $3.40.
- Tablet-Based Custom Orders: Complementing the conveyor belt, each table has a tablet for ordering specific dishes that might not be on the belt, or for hot items prepared fresh. This ensures you get exactly what you crave, and the ordered items are delivered on a separate, dedicated top conveyor belt.
- Robot Drink/Sauce Delivery: A delightful and memorable touch, friendly robots deliver water, drinks, and sauces directly to your table, adding to the futuristic and fun ambiance. Customers describe it as a "fun entertainment wise" element.
- "Bikkura Pon" Prize System: This unique gamified element allows diners to earn small prizes, like keychains or Lego packets, by dropping a certain number of empty plates (typically 15) into a slot at their table. It's especially popular with families and adds an element of playful competition to the meal.
- Good Value for Experience: While some note the sushi might not be the "best you'll have" compared to high-end traditional sushi restaurants, for the price and the overall interactive experience, it offers "a really fun time" and is considered "still good."
- Popular Appetizers: Customer favorites include the spider hand roll, takoyaki, and the fried squid (though some found the squid a bit chewy). The fried shrimp is also good, but noted for being a smaller portion for the price.
- Variety of Sushi and Other Dishes: Beyond standard sushi, Kura offers a wide range of options on the revolving belt and via tablet, including nigiri, hand rolls, ramen, udon, and various appetizers. They also have monthly featured items.
- Accessibility: The restaurant is handicapped accessible, though navigating the space can be tight when it's busy.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar offers several exciting promotions and features that enhance the dining experience and provide value for locals:
- Happy Hour: Kura has a dedicated Happy Hour running Monday-Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. During this time, they offer discounted prices on a selection of appetizers ($5.90 and $7.95 options), individual sushi pieces ($3.00 each), various sushi rolls ($7.00 each), house wine ($6.00), and beer ($4.50), as well as sake bottles. A drink purchase is required for Happy Hour pricing, and it's valid for dine-in only.
- Kura Sushi Rewards Program: By downloading their app and signing up for Kura Sushi Rewards, members can earn points for every dollar spent (10 points per $1). For every 500 points, a $5 reward is automatically gifted to the account, redeemable on dine-in, takeout, or delivery orders (with a minimum purchase). - Birthday Reward: As a Kura Sushi Rewards member, you can receive a free dessert on your birthday (with a minimum purchase) when dining in.
- "Bikkura Pon" Prize System: This unique in-restaurant "promotion" isn't about discounts but rather fun rewards. By inserting 15 empty sushi plates into a slot at your table, you trigger a prize capsule to drop from a "gumball" style machine, containing small toys or keychains. This adds a playful incentive for ordering more plates.
- Monthly Discoveries: Kura continuously introduces new seasonal dishes and exclusive items as "Kura's Monthly Discoveries," encouraging repeat visits to try limited-time offerings.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar Reviews
Really cool sushi bar. If you’ve never been to a sushi place with a conveyor belt, I would definitely recommend it for a fun date night. I tried both sushi they had readily available that went around and also directly ordered from the tablet as well. The sushi isn’t the best you’ll have, but for the price and experience, it’s a really fun time. My personal faves here were the spider hand roll, takoyaki, and the fried squid. Also there’s a robot that brings out your water!
Apr 19, 2025 · D John03/2025: 2nd time trying and it was still good! We sat further from where the food was put on the sushi bar this time, and found ourselves seeing lots of empty plates. Eventually we just ordered from the tablet.02/2025: The food on the revolving sushi bar was all great. Ordered the fried squid, it had good flavor - but was too chewy. The fried shrimp was good - but two pieces for over $8, wouldn’t recommend. Each plate off the bar is $3.40. The wait times were very long. Not sure if it was entirely worth the wait. There is a tablet you can order from, at any time. Plus, a robot that brings you drinks/sauce etc… They have a “gum ball” style machine that drops “prizes” at your table during dining. Inside is little keychains, Lego building packets, etc… Very fun entertainment wise. Overall, I’d go back for the revolving sushi bar options and the experience. It’s handicapped accessible, but when busy, it’s a very tight entry space.Note: The setup is not meant for parties of 4 of more.
Mar 09, 2025 · JessThe sushi was decent. The experience was great, our son loved the ability to grab food as it passed by. The smaller servings made it easy to try lots of different items. Each dish was fairly priced. $3.40 a plate was great. The hostess was friendly, the wait was worth it.Be sure to download the app and check in early if it’s busy.
Feb 01, 2025 · Aaron JarrelsThis sushi place was a lot of fun. I loved the conveyor and the robots running drinks around i do wish they had a better variety of sushi rolls the types of rolls seemed rather limited. also, a pork dumpling would have been a good addition to the menu, but they only had chicken. I did love the desert with the fish shaped pastry.
Jan 26, 2025 · Robert MendonWas such a good time with doing a girl night. Everything we had was good. The people that we did ask for help was super kind. I was a little bummed out about the belt of sushi, though. It wasn't that busy, but we sat for a good 5 mins before we got a sushi because by the time it got to us, it had been taken. But you can order directly from the menu, and there is a belt above that comes straight to your table. Now, they do have an actual menu you can order from as well, which I may try next time. All in all, fun and great to do with friends and family.
