Maki Of Japan Introduce
Located in St. Petersburg, Florida, specifically within the Tyrone Square Mall, **Maki Of Japan** is a Japanese eatery that aims to provide convenient and accessible Japanese-inspired meals. As a mall-based establishment, it typically caters to shoppers looking for a quick and satisfying bite. The provided reviews offer a bifurcated view of the dining experience, highlighting both potential strengths and a significant area of concern.
When considering the platform category "Doctor Near Me," the application to Maki Of Japan becomes particularly nuanced due to the conflicting reviews. While some might consider a quick, satisfying meal as a "culinary prescription" for hunger, the severe negative review profoundly impacts this analogy. In a medical context, a "doctor" is expected to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and patient safety. The detailed account of a roach incident and the cook's alleged response directly contravenes these fundamental expectations. While a positive review praises "amazing food" and "very nice employees" who "give great proportions," implying a form of "nutritional care" through generous servings, the negative review casts a dark shadow on the establishment's ability to provide a "healthy" or "safe" dining experience. Therefore, if one were to view Maki Of Japan through the "Doctor Near Me" lens, it would be as a "provider" with highly inconsistent "patient care" standards, where the risk of encountering critical "hygiene issues" cannot be overlooked, regardless of the perceived "effectiveness" of its portions or taste. The very essence of "Doctor Near Me" implies trust and safety, which is severely challenged by the negative account.
The **environment** of Maki Of Japan, given its location within Tyrone Square Mall (address: St. Petersburg, FL 33710, USA), is inherently that of a food court or a quick-service restaurant. This typically means a more casual, open, and often bustling setting, characteristic of mall dining. Diners would likely order at a counter and either take their food to a common seating area within the mall food court or to limited seating adjacent to the establishment itself. This type of environment prioritizes speed and convenience for shoppers and mall visitors. While one review praises the "amazing food" and "very nice employees," the starkly negative review paints a picture of a severely compromised environment due to a reported hygiene issue, specifically a roach incident. This aspect of the environment is critical for potential customers to consider, as it directly impacts perceived cleanliness and safety, overriding other typical environmental factors.
The **services** at Maki Of Japan are subject to conflicting interpretations based on the provided reviews. One customer had a highly positive impression, stating that the "employees are very nice," which suggests a welcoming and friendly service approach. This implies that for some patrons, the interaction with the staff contributes positively to their dining experience. However, a profoundly negative review describes a severe service failure related to a hygiene incident. The reviewer recounts a cook allegedly "knocking down a roach with the same spatula that the cook was cooking with" and then "quickly went back to cooking looking around as if to see if anyone saw him." Furthermore, when the situation was explained to the cashier, he "still charged them for the soda and did not address the incident!!!" This account details a critical lapse in food safety protocol and a severe lack of accountability or concern from the staff regarding a serious hygiene issue. This deeply troubling experience, if accurate, indicates a significant inconsistency in service standards, particularly concerning customer safety and complaint resolution, which would be a major deterrent for potential diners.
The **features** of Maki Of Japan's culinary offerings are described somewhat contradictorily. The positive review highlights that "The food is amazing here and they give great proportions." This suggests that for some customers, the taste and quantity of the food are significant draws, providing good value. In a food court setting, generous portions are often a key feature that appeals to diners looking for a satisfying meal. However, the negative review, while not directly critiquing the taste of the food it was about to receive, implicitly indicates a breakdown in trust regarding food preparation due to the reported roach incident. The mere act of witnessing such an event, irrespective of the dish's actual flavor, would render any potential culinary features irrelevant for the affected customer. The lack of specific menu item mentions beyond "food" and "proportions" in the positive review means that detailed insights into the type of Japanese dishes offered (e.g., specific sushi rolls, hibachi items, teriyaki dishes) are not available from the provided information. Therefore, while some patrons appreciate the quantity and perceived quality of the food, the critical incident raises significant questions about hygiene as an underlying feature of their food preparation.
Regarding **promotional information**, Maki Of Japan faces a significant challenge due to the stark contrast in its public perception. The positive review, with its enthusiastic "These people giving these bad reviews are straight up lying!! 🤣🤣 The food is amazing here and the employees are very nice and they give great proportions...", attempts to counter negative sentiment and promote the restaurant through direct contradiction and personal endorsement of quality and value. This highlights an existing debate or polarized opinion about the establishment. The fact that the positive reviewer feels compelled to defend the restaurant so strongly suggests that there might be other negative reviews in the public domain beyond the one provided. However, the detailed and highly critical negative review acts as a powerful deterrent, essentially serving as a counter-promotion. An account of a severe hygiene breach and poor staff response is incredibly damaging to a food establishment's reputation and would likely override any positive claims for many potential customers. The explicit phrase "Never again!!!" and the "minus five stars" rating are strong anti-promotional statements. While the restaurant's phone number, **(727) 623-0920** or mobile phone **+1 727-623-0920**, would normally be a means of contact for inquiries, the overwhelming nature of the negative incident would likely dominate any promotional efforts. Therefore, the promotional landscape for Maki Of Japan is highly complex and polarized, with strong endorsements clashing with severe cautionary tales.
In conclusion, Maki Of Japan, situated within Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg, Florida, presents a highly mixed picture. Some customers appreciate its "amazing food" and "great proportions," served by "very nice employees," positioning it as a convenient and satisfying option for quick Japanese meals. However, a deeply concerning review detailing a severe hygiene incident and an inadequate staff response raises significant questions about cleanliness and customer safety protocols. This stark contrast in experiences suggests that while the restaurant might offer good value and taste to some, potential diners should be aware of the critical feedback regarding sanitation. Therefore, for those seeking a Japanese meal in the area, a balanced consideration of these varied experiences is essential.

Maki Of Japan Reviews
These people giving these bad reviews are straight up lying!! 🤣🤣 The food is amazing here and the employees are very nice and they give great proportions...
March 06 · Michael GreenWent there on May 11, 2019. The time was between 1:30 - 3:00 PM and I was about to order from Maki of Japan in Tyrone Square Mall when a roach crawling up the wall next to one of the cooks was knocked down with the same spatula that the cook was cooking with! He quickly went back to cooking looking around as if to see if anyone saw him. Well, aside from the couple (RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM) waiting for the same food he (the cook) was preparing for them I also saw what he did! The couple demanded their money back and once the situation was explained to the cashier, he still charged them for the soda and did not address the incident!!! Never again!!! Though I'm forced to give them one star in order for this review to be posted, this place gets minus five stars. Disusting!!!
May 16 · A AWebsite menu price doesn’t match in store. Quantity and quality of food is not worth a $18 dollar teriyaki combo meal.
May 30 · Jacob BanuelosLiterally been going to this place for 15 years or more, used to sneak food form here into the theaters where Old Navy is now. Never been disappointed, always good food and friendly service, I go once or twice a month and never regret it.
January 25 · Brett Windnagle (Lascaille's Shroud)Been going here since I was a child, I would always recommend the chicken teriyaki fried rice no vegetables, extra teriyaki sauce! This is a comfort food!! Love it, lady at cash register always so nice knows my husband and children well.
