Really delicious sushi and friendly staff. We were happily surprised when they took the time to make us a beautiful boat presentation for our order - we were not expecting it, but it made the experience even better! We will definitely be back. (PS - you can BYO...we brought some Japanese beer)

My daughter landed her first career professional job in NYC. We aren’t cake people but I know she loves sushi. I called for something special and gave my budget. HOLY COW IT WAS AMAZING! They did such a great job and some members of my family who never had sushi tried and loved it! Thanks so much Alice & Matsu! ❤️❤️❤️

I had an amazing dinner here! The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the variety of rolls offered was impressive, with each bite bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was top-notch—definitely a place I’ll be returning to!

If I could give 6 stars, I will. One of the freshest sushi around with great consistency. The owner, Alice, is especially nice. She makes sure her customers are happy and receives good quality food. Good integrity and honest business person. I am a sushi foodie and this is one of the best mid-range priced Japanese restaurant I’ve been to. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for good value Japanese cuisine.(Updated) 4/5/2025. Still great food, great service. One of the best in Northern Bergen area.

I love Matsu, and will always keep ordering from them, however the katsu is now more expensive, and I felt like I got far less. it doesn't even come with the sauce anymore nor does it get cut. Suffice to say it's disappointing to see because I've never had a bad experience with Matsu until these changes.
