Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House | Manhattan

4.0
Pleased with my dining experience with Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House in their Flushing location, I had to try their Manhattan location as well! While smaller than their Flushing location, the services and food were just as good.Upon seating, our waiter kindly explained to us that their Manhattan location is smaller than their Flushing location, therefore, the menu and ordering is slightly different. He was thorough and gave clear, detailed instructions leaving no confusion. Unlike the Flushing location, this location has only three wagyu sets to choose from, rather than four. Sadly, there are only four specialty dishes to choose from. Nonetheless, their specialty dishes were still very tasty! Especially their Wagyu Nigiri. A perfect balance of wagyu and rice, neither flavor overwhelming the other. One thing I do like about this is their organized workflow. Since the restaurant is small, the staff would frequently check in. They would grab the specific sauce you want, as well as the drinks, and the dessert. If you prefer to be creative with your sauce, then feel free to try their Flushing location. Still, I am glad to have come here and will try to come again soon with my friends. - Stephen K

For New Yorkers seeking an elevated all-you-can-eat (AYCE) dining experience, Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House in Manhattan offers a compelling option that distinguishes itself through its focus on premium wagyu beef. While it’s part of a larger chain with a popular Flushing location, the Manhattan outpost brings the same commitment to quality and service to a more intimate setting in Midtown East. This Japanese restaurant specializes in shabu-shabu, a Japanese hot pot dish where thinly sliced meat and vegetables are cooked in a simmering broth right at your table.

Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House in Manhattan prides itself on providing high-quality wagyu cuts, along with a thoughtful selection of starters, vegetables, and seafood, all within an AYCE framework. Diners consistently praise the exceptional service, the inviting ambiance, and the tender, flavorful wagyu. Though slightly smaller with a more curated menu than its Flushing counterpart, the Manhattan location maintains the brand's reputation for delicious food and a well-organized workflow, making it an excellent choice for a satisfying and indulgent meal. It’s a perfect spot for those who appreciate premium ingredients and an interactive dining experience.

### Services Offered

Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House | Manhattan specializes in an elevated all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu experience, complemented by attentive service:

  • All-You-Can-Eat Wagyu Shabu-Shabu: The core offering revolves around premium AYCE wagyu beef. Guests choose from different wagyu sets (tiers) that include various cuts of high-quality wagyu, along with unlimited starters, vegetables, and seafood.
  • Multiple Wagyu Tiers: The Manhattan location offers at least three wagyu sets (e.g., Silver, Gold, and potentially Diamond) to choose from, allowing diners to select their preferred level of wagyu quality and variety. The Gold set, for instance, includes additional cuts, some of which are A5 Wagyu.
  • Variety of Broths: Diners can select from a choice of bubbling hot pot broths, which may include options like tomato, a house broth with ponzu, spicy miso, and a sweet-meets-savory sukiyaki broth, allowing for customization of the shabu-shabu base.
  • Unlimited Starters, Vegetables, and Seafood: Beyond the wagyu, the AYCE experience includes unlimited access to a range of appetizers (like Wagyu Nigiri and bone marrow), a seasonal selection of fresh vegetables (including pre-set platters and customized choices), and an impressive array of seafood such as snow crab, scallops, and shrimp.
  • Pre-Made Dipping Sauces: Unlike some self-serve hot pot spots, this location offers a curated selection of pre-made sauces for dipping, with staff assisting in bringing desired options to the table. Examples include spicy soy sauce and a preserved egg sauce.
  • Dessert Included: The dining experience concludes with dessert, often featuring options like green tea mochi and Häagen-Dazs mini ice creams.
  • Table Service: The restaurant operates with an organized workflow and exceptional table service, where staff frequently check in for refills, clear plates, and take new orders, ensuring a smooth and attentive dining flow.

### Features / Highlights

Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House | Manhattan boasts several distinctive features that contribute to its appeal and positive dining experiences:

  • High-Quality All-You-Can-Eat Wagyu: The paramount highlight is the access to high-quality, often A5 grade, wagyu beef in an all-you-can-eat format. This is a significant draw, offering a luxurious experience at a more accessible price point than traditional à la carte wagyu.
  • Exceptional Service: Customer reviews consistently rave about the "amazing service" and "exceptional" staff. Waiters are described as "very informative," "thorough," "kindly explained" menu differences, and "tended to us often for refills," creating a truly pleasant and efficient dining environment.
  • Delicious Specialty Dishes: Even with a smaller selection compared to other locations, the Manhattan spot's specialty dishes are "still very tasty!" The Wagyu Nigiri, in particular, is highlighted as a "perfect balance of wagyu and rice," and the bone marrow is noted for being "so savory!!"
  • Cozy and Welcoming Ambiance: Despite being smaller, the restaurant maintains a "nice and clean" interior with a "welcoming" aroma of cooking food. It's described as "nice and bright," with a "reasonable volume" that allows for comfortable conversation. The two-floor layout with multiple dining rooms adds to the inviting feel.
  • Organized Workflow: The efficiency of the staff, who are "on the ready to take any used plates or re-order any foods," contributes to an organized and seamless dining experience, particularly appreciated in an AYCE setting.
  • Generous All-You-Can-Eat Add-ons: The AYCE model extends beyond meat to include unlimited starters, a wide variety of fresh vegetables, and an impressive selection of seafood like snow crab and scallops, ensuring a comprehensive and satisfying meal.
  • Thoughtful Dessert Offerings: Concluding the meal with a choice of green tea mochi or Häagen-Dazs mini ice creams provides a delightful sweet finish to the rich savory experience.

### Promotions or Special Offers

Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House | Manhattan's primary "promotion" is its all-inclusive, all-you-can-eat pricing structure for premium wagyu and extensive accompaniments, which already offers significant value. Specific, separate promotional deals may vary, but typically, their value is built into the tiered pricing. However, based on available information, consider the following:

  • Tiered Pricing for Value: The restaurant offers different wagyu sets (e.g., Silver, Gold, Diamond) at varying price points (ranging from $45 to $98 as per general Mikiya info), allowing diners to choose a package that best fits their budget and desired quality of wagyu. For instance, the $78 Gold Wagyu set is highlighted as being only $10 more than the Silver, offering additional A5 cuts, which is seen as a great value upgrade.
  • NFT Holder Benefits: Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House has a program for NFT (Non-Fungible Token) holders, who may receive benefits such as "Reserve Priority Seating." While this isn't a discount on food, it offers a preferential service that enhances the dining experience, particularly during busy times.

It's always recommended to check their official website or inquire directly with the restaurant for any current or seasonal promotions, as these can change. The core value, however, remains in their high-quality AYCE wagyu offering.
