Mr. Tokyo Japanese Restaurant prides itself on its extensive menu and flexible dining options, primarily centered around its popular all-you-can-eat concept. Here’s a detailed look at what they offer:
All-You-Can-Eat Sushi and Japanese Cuisine: This is the flagship offering that draws in a multitude of customers. For a set price, diners can order from a vast selection of sushi rolls, handrolls, nigiri, and a variety of hot appetizers, soups, and even Hibachi and Teriyaki dishes. This allows for an unparalleled opportunity to sample many different items and satisfy diverse cravings within a single meal.
Extensive Sushi Roll Selection: The menu boasts a wide array of classic and specialty sushi rolls. Popular choices mentioned by customers include Philly, Alaska, Spicy Tuna, Salmon, Tuna, Eel Classic Roll, YipYip Roll (with salmon, cream cheese, mango, spicy mayo), Blackpepper Tuna, Deep Blue, and Dragon Roll. Diners can customize their orders by requesting specific ingredients or avoiding certain sauces.
Nigiri and Sashimi: For purists, Mr. Tokyo offers a selection of nigiri (slices of fish over rice) and sashimi (slices of raw fish without rice). While sashimi is typically available on the dinner all-you-can-eat menu, both nigiri and sashimi feature fresh, good-quality fish, including tuna, salmon, flying fish roe, and eel.
Hibachi and Teriyaki Dishes: Beyond sushi, the restaurant provides cooked Japanese entrees like Hibachi Steak and Shrimp, and various Teriyaki options. Customers frequently commend the quality of their Hibachi steak, noting it's often better than what’s found at dedicated Hibachi restaurants.
Appetizers: A wide range of appetizers complements the main courses. These include Miso Soup, Seaweed Salad, Edamame, Crab Rangoon, Shrimp Tempura, Cheese Mussels, Pork Gyoza, and Harumaki (spring rolls). Many appetizers come with a complementary sweet sauce that enhances their flavor.
Soups and Salads: In addition to miso soup, other soup and salad options are typically available to start your meal or as a lighter accompaniment.
Beverage Service: The restaurant offers standard beverage options, with prompt water refills noted by customers as a testament to their attentive service.
Individual Ordering Option: While the all-you-can-eat option is highly recommended for value, customers also have the flexibility to order individual items from the menu, catering to those with smaller appetites or specific preferences.
Mr. Tokyo Japanese Restaurant has garnered a strong reputation in the Triangle area due to several distinctive features and highlights:
Exceptional All-You-Can-Eat Value: This is arguably the biggest draw. Customers consistently praise the incredible value offered by the all-you-can-eat model, especially during weekday lunches. The ability to indulge in a wide variety of high-quality sushi, appetizers, and main dishes for a fixed price makes it an unbeatable deal for sushi lovers.
Fresh and Good Quality Fish: Despite being an all-you-can-eat establishment, reviews frequently highlight the freshness and good quality of the fish used in their sushi and sashimi. This commitment to fresh ingredients elevates the dining experience significantly.
Diverse Menu Selection: The extensive menu, encompassing not only a vast array of sushi and rolls but also hot appetizers, Hibachi, Teriyaki, and soups, ensures there's something for every palate. This variety encourages diners to explore new dishes with each visit.

Consistent Quality: Many repeat customers attest to the consistent quality of the food across multiple visits, reinforcing its reputation as a reliable spot for delicious Japanese cuisine.
Pleasant Ambiance: The restaurant offers an accommodating ambiance with pleasant background music, creating a comfortable and enjoyable setting for a meal.
Mr. Tokyo Japanese Restaurant's primary "special offer" is its highly acclaimed all-you-can-eat pricing structure, which varies between lunch and dinner, and weekdays versus weekends. This pricing itself is considered an exceptional value by patrons.
Weekday Lunch All-You-Can-Eat: Often priced around $15 per person, this is frequently highlighted as an "incredible amount of food for the money" and an "excellent value." It includes a wide range of sushi rolls, nigiri (excluding certain premium items like yellowtail and eel), appetizers, and hot dishes.
Dinner All-You-Can-Eat: Typically priced higher, around $24-$26 per person, the dinner menu expands to include more premium items such as sashimi, yellowtail, eel (as part of the all-you-can-eat selection), and additional appetizers not available during lunch. This provides even more options for those looking to indulge further.
"Mr. Tokyo Bowl" (Limited Special): Customers sometimes mention a "Mr. Tokyo Bowl" as a special, limited to one per customer, suggesting occasional unique offerings beyond the standard all-you-can-eat menu.
It is always advisable for customers to confirm current pricing and any specific seasonal or daily promotions directly with the restaurant or check their official website/social media before visiting, as prices and offerings can occasionally change.

Mr Tokyo Japanese Restaurant Reviews
I read reviews and developed first visit strategy. arrived 11a, no wait weekday lunch. miso, seaweed salad, edemame for appetizers. also ordered 5 rolls on first round - philly, alaska, spicy tuna, salmon, tuna rolls. nice proportion of fish to rice.mowed it down. round 2 - tuna, salmon, flying fish roe nigiri. smaller, thinner slices of fish, but to be expected for buffet. still nice proportions, not overly made with rice.very full with 20 minutes left- ordered eel roll and salmon roll for desert. killer food buzz.excellent value, $16 big bang for the buck.fish was fresh and good quality. tax and tip was less than $21. incredible amount of food for the money. I'll definitely be back for lunch. probably also try for dinner. dinner is $26 but offers sashimi, yellowtail, eel, and a couple other appetizers that aren't available on lunch menu. maybe try hibachi or teriyaki next time too. I skipped the "specialty rolls" this visit, trying to avoid the globs of unknown sauces added to those rolls.
May 13, 2025 · Irish PirateItedakimasu! Hands down, our favorite sushi restaurant in the Triangle, NC. All-you-can-eat sushi, handrolls, Hibachi or Teriyaki, soups, and mostly fried appetizers + 1 of each kind of ngiri or sashimi (additional cost) for $24 each person ($15 on Lunch weekdays) is the ultimate feast deal for sushi lovers. We've been here multiple times & introduced this spot to relatives. While customers have the option to order individually, the All-You-Can-Eat sheet is the way to go if you want to feast delicious sushi & other aforementioned Japanese foods for amazing value. When you enter Mr.Tokyo, you are given a sheet with a list of items you can check to order. Here's our typical routine when me & my girl eat in Mr. Tokyo:Round 1: My girl and I usually start off with 1 sheet each. We get miso soup & our choice of appetizers: I usually get a crab rangoon and shrimp tempura & she gets cheese mussels. We also get 1 each of most kinds of ngiri & we save the best piece for last: eel ngiri, which we "toast" with our chopsticks. 1 of my favorites is the eel classic roll, which has a slightly sweet oyster-like sauce & my girl loves the salmon handroll, which has avocado & cream cheese (Yes, she loves cream cheese in her sushi & handrolls). On the same first sheet, we usually get 1 of their yummy sushis each. Her fave is the YipYip Roll, which has salmon, cream cheese, mango, spicy mayo, etc,. I' not a big fan of sushi with cream cheese so this is not my personal favorite but I think it's oishii. My fave sushis are: Blackpepper Tuna, Deep Blue & we both enjoy the Dragon Roll. We've tried other sushis in the menu & we think most of them are worth trying at least once but the ones we mentioned are sushis we've ordered multiple times (once each every visit) & we'll definitely order again. Of course, we dip most of them in sodium-free soy sauce.Round 2: We just use 1 sheet & we usually get 1 miso soup that we share, 1 or 2 more salmon handrolls & cheese mussels for her, 1 or 2 sushi rolls & Hibachi Steak & Shrimp with NO rice. Their Hibachi steak is actually higher quality than most Hibachi restaurants & shrimps are satisfyingly good. Most of the appetizers I get come with sweet sauce. While none of them are particularly amazing, they compliment the overall meal well.Sometimes, we are both full by 2 rounds & if we get a 3rd round, it's usually to just add 1 roll or 1 Mr. Tokyo Bowl, the 1-per-customer-limited special item.Orders are usually served surprisingly fast despite being crowded most of the time. Waiters refill waters fast & we never had an issue with them. This place is clearly professionally-managed. Restaurant's ambiance is accommodating, with pleasant music playing in the background. Lines can get long sometimes & because of the limited space, often times we had to wait - sometimes up to 30 minutes. They usse a reliable app for customers waiting. Wish they could expand to a bigger space - even the Monterrey Mexican restaurant beside it is way more spacious but Mr. Tokyo's seats seem to get occupied more.If you love high-quality (and quantity) sushi & ngiri for a fair price, Mr. Tokyo is the #1 choice in the Triangle, and nothing even comes close.
Jan 18, 2025 · Jake VyperFood is fresh, delicious and well priced. Service is quick and efficient. I'll definitely be back!
May 26, 2025 · Andrea ByrdIf you get a chance, you should try sushi at any “all you can eat” restaurants in Raleigh (2 best Sushi restaurants) then you will know how delicious they are and affordable price. For me, the menu on the weekends is pricey. The only good things you can get are yellow tail and Mr. Tokyo bowl which are limited per person.
Feb 10, 2025 · Sally TruongThe week day all you can eat sushi is one of the best values you will get for lunch in the area. The price can't be beat. There is a good variety of options for sushi and for those who to want some variety, hibachi style dishes and appetizers. The service isn't the fastest. I find it best to put in the bulk of your order at once because it will be a long while before a waiter comes back to check on you. We had to flag down someone for drink refills as they were checked. The place is pretty busy during lunch. The sushi was good quality and tasty. Both the spring rolls and crab rangoons were good appetizers. Skip the chicken katsu as it was very dry. I'll be back for the sushi.
