PUNGNYEON KATSU 풍년 돈까스 Reviews
Came after a long time wanting to try and honestly it was pretty decent. The customer service was very very good. Super polite and made the ordering/paying experience simple and seamless. The menu is limited to a few items but they are done very well. Went with a side order of dumplings and they were your traditional fried dumplings and the sauces they pair with them especially the spicy one was amazing. Went with the classic pork katsu meal and the katsu itself was done to perfection with the meat being tender and not overly seasoned. The breading on the katsu was fried perfectly and wasn’t dripping an excess of oil. The size of it too was great too, didn’t feel like I left without really trying the katsu. They have to know how to cook something perfectly if it’s in the name of the business and that they succeed flawlessly.Sadly the katsu is not the only part of the meal though. The gravy or curry used for the pork katsu was just too sweet for my liking and wish they offered a bit more variety on spiciness. A friend said that the sauce used for the fish katsu was also very ranch heavy which could be a bit off putting. Portion size of the accompanying items and the lack of bancans was a little disheartening for sure. Loved the customer service and the main item that’s being sold but the accompanying items on the dish weren’t a hit for me. The starter corn soup was ok but could have done without as I’m not a huge soup enjoyer. Nonetheless I would definitely recommend to those that would want to try Katsu for the first time.
May 17 · Philly_milWe keep driving by this place and been wanting to try. Finally made our way here tonight for dinner. We order the soba noodle with shrimp tempura, chicken katsu and cheese katsu. The cheese katsu is pork with cheese over. Both katsu was cooked perfect. The soba was really good as well. It came with the pickled daikon and onion which was really good. And all the meals come with a corn cream soup. The corn cream soup was so tasty. The service was very good. I highly recommend this place
March 18 · Linh QuanCute little restaurant specializing in katsu. I got the Cheese Katsu, which comes with 6 pieces, rice, coleslaw, sauce, and sweet corn soup. I was surprisingly quite full by the time I got to the last piece, so don’t underestimate the quantity! I would definitely recommend coming here to try their katsu! Very delicious and unique.
April 16 · Gina YangFood here is SO GOOD. Everything is made fresh to order. Their fried pork cutlet is drizzled with homemade gravy, and their pork cutlet with cheese is so yummy as well. If you like cold noodles, you should definitely get their soba—I get it every time I come. But everything in the menu is so good. I love restaurants that have a limited menu and do the food justice. The ambience is calm, family-run vibe. Plenty of parking as well. And the servers are super friendly as well. Best donkatsu in town!!!
November 16 · Ho Yun CheonThis katsu spot feels like stepping into a Studio Ghibli film—warm, magical, and unforgettable. From the charming menu art on the walls to the food itself, everything here is pure delight. The katsu is perfection: golden, crispy, and impossibly tender, like it was made by a fairy grandmother. Every bite feels like a hug for your taste buds, and even the side dishes shine with fresh, vibrant flavor. It’s more than a meal; it’s an enchanting experience. If you want to be wowed, this is the place.
