Ramen House

2623 San Bruno Ave, San Francisco, CA 94134, USA

4.0
Nice clean and modern restaurant. Staff seem a bit busy hanging out with their friends at the restaurant. We ordered the Okonomiyaki both the beef and the veggie and they were both excellent and tasted very similar to the ones we ordered in Japan. Of course our preference is the Hiroshima style which has the noodles which Ramen House does not carry. We also ordered the popcorn chicken which is supposedly excellent but we thought it was ok and not as crunchy as we’d like. Service was just ok but we’ll be back for the Okonomiyaki!!! - DYJ1948

Ramen House Introduce

For those of us in the diverse culinary landscape of San Francisco, the search for authentic and comforting Japanese flavors often leads us to local favorites. Nestled on San Bruno Avenue, Ramen House emerges as a go-to spot, particularly for its highly-praised Okonomiyaki. While the name suggests a focus on ramen, this establishment offers a wider array of Japanese delights, creating a welcoming and versatile dining experience for the community. It's the kind of place where you can find both classic comfort food and intriguing Japanese specialties.

Ramen House has garnered attention for its clean, modern aesthetic and, more importantly, its flavorful dishes. Patrons consistently highlight the Okonomiyaki, with both the beef and veggie versions receiving accolades for being "excellent" and tasting "very similar to the ones we ordered in Japan." This is high praise for a dish often referred to as "Japanese Pizza," a savory pancake made with a special batter, tempura flakes, sliced meat or vegetables, leeks, and cabbage, topped with delicate dried beef shavings, Japanese mayonnaise, and a sweet umami sauce. While some reviewers noted that the ramen house does not carry the Hiroshima style of Okonomiyaki (which includes noodles), the quality of their Osaka-style preparation clearly stands out. Though the popcorn chicken received mixed reviews regarding its crunchiness, the overall consensus is positive, with many intending to "be back for the Okonomiyaki!!!" Another unique feature is their early opening, serving "American breakfast among other things," offering a blend of familiar and exotic options to start your day. Despite some observations about staff being busy, the positive feedback on the food itself speaks volumes about Ramen House's culinary strengths.
