This place is phenomenal. One of my favorite omakase experiences. Dinner came with 21 different pieces and a dessert. Some of the highlights include the Hokkaido uni with caviar, wagyu with shaved foie gras, Seabream, snapper, ocean trout and tuna belly. We loved every bite. You are given a price range of $109-$209 I believe and they tailor the menu for you. The portion of rice to fish was perfect and there is a large selection of sake and wine. You can do a sake tasting for $75 or get bottles and glasses. The service was great, an empty plate was almost never on our table and the meal came out well paced. Reservations can be made 6 weeks in advance via resy and the sushi bar is most popular. Highly recommend this place for a wonderful omakase experience. - Drew Hinkson

This results in an innovative and exciting tasting menu that showcases pristine ingredients, often sourced locally or from top-tier international purveyors.

Services Offered

Robin specializes in a highly personalized omakase experience, distinguishing it from traditional à la carte sushi restaurants. Their core services are designed to provide an intimate and curated dining journey:

  • Personalized Omakase Dining: Robin operates without a traditional fixed menu. Instead, diners are presented with a price range (typically from $119 to $219, though historical ranges have been cited from $79 to $179), and the chefs tailor a unique tasting menu based on that budget and the diner's specific preferences and dietary needs. This allows for a truly customized experience, with meal lengths often including around 21-24 different pieces and a dessert.
  • Sushi Bar Seating: The sushi bar is a highly popular seating option, offering an up-close view of the chefs at work, enhancing the interactive omakase experience. Reservations for the sushi bar are often the most sought-after.
  • Table Seating: In addition to the sushi bar, Robin offers tables inside for a more private dining experience.
  • Sake & Wine Program: Robin boasts a large and carefully curated selection of sake and wine, featuring both Japanese and local producers. They offer a sake omakase menu for $75, which pairs premium sakes with each course of the tasting menu. Guests can also order sake by the bottle or glass, and a selection of California and old-world wine, grower champagne, and craft beer is available.
  • Reservations: Due to its popularity and personalized nature, reservations are essential and can be made up to six weeks in advance, typically via platforms like Resy. Robin is noted as a "text-only restaurant" for communication regarding reservations.
  • Contemporary California-Inspired Approach: While rooted in Japanese tradition, Chef Adam Tortosa incorporates a modern Northern Californian influence, often utilizing local ingredients and unique pairings.
  • Dietary Accommodations: As the menu is customized, Robin is equipped to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences when communicated in advance.
Features / Highlights

Robin stands out in San Francisco's competitive dining scene due to several exceptional features and highlights:

  • Tailored Omakase Experience: This is Robin's signature. The ability to set your price point ($119-$219) and have the chef curate a personalized 20-24 piece menu, including a dessert, is a unique and highly appreciated feature. This ensures that each dining experience is distinct and caters to individual tastes.
  • Exceptional Ingredient Quality: Robin is renowned for using pristine, top-tier ingredients. Highlights often include luxurious items such as Hokkaido uni with caviar, wagyu with shaved foie gras, and various premium fish like Seabream, Snapper, Ocean Trout, and exquisite Tuna Belly (O-Toro). While some fish are from Japan, many are sourced from Canada, New Zealand, or California, reflecting a commitment to quality regardless of origin.
  • Perfect Rice-to-Fish Ratio: Diners consistently praise the "perfect portion of rice to fish," a crucial element in achieving balanced and enjoyable nigiri.
  • Extensive Sake & Wine Selection: The large and carefully selected range of sake, including a dedicated sake tasting menu, offers excellent pairing opportunities that enhance the flavors of the sushi. The inclusion of California wines also speaks to their local influence.
  • Attentive and Well-Paced Service: The service at Robin is frequently highlighted as "great" and "attentive." Plates are promptly cleared, and the meal pacing is expertly managed, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable flow through the many courses.
  • Stylish and Intimate Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a sleek interior with warm leather, dark stone, and plaster walls, creating a "decadent, street cool, moody" feel. Unique elements like a fuchsia and rose mosaic behind the bar and custom ceramicware by local artists contribute to its distinctive aesthetic.
  • Chef Adam Tortosa's Innovative Approach: Chef Tortosa, known for putting his "own spin on the fish," combines Japanese discipline with a focus on local ingredients and inventive pairings, creating dishes that are both familiar and exciting.
Promotions or Special Offers

Robin's primary "special offer" is its personalized omakase pricing structure. Rather than fixed specials, the ability for diners to select a price point ($119-$219) allows for a customized experience tailored to their budget and desired indulgence. This bespoke approach means that while there aren't traditional discounts, you receive a meal specifically designed for you, often including premium ingredients that might be extra elsewhere.

The sake omakase for $75 can also be seen as a special pairing opportunity, allowing guests to explore a range of premium sakes expertly matched with their sushi courses. This adds significant value for those looking to elevate their dining experience with beverage pairings.

While Robin does not typically advertise traditional "promotions" in the form of discounts or happy hours, their focus is on delivering a consistently high-quality, curated experience. For any limited-time collaborations or unique offerings, it would be best to check their official website or Resy profile, as these platforms are where any special announcements would most likely be made.
