Sakana Introduce
In Westminster, Colorado, Sakana presents itself as a Japanese restaurant offering a range of traditional dishes. While the platform category "Doctor Near Me" is primarily for healthcare services, the concept of a restaurant can align with providing 'nourishment' and contributing to one's overall well-being. A good meal, even if not a cure, can certainly uplift spirits and provide comfort. Sakana aims to offer a culinary experience that, at its best, can be a delightful 'treatment' for your taste buds, though like any 'prescription,' individual results may vary.
You can find Sakana conveniently located at 7520 Sheridan Boulevard, Westminster, CO 80003. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them at (303) 429-6646 or via mobile at +1 303-429-6646.
Sakana is noted for being a "clean place" which is always a positive indicator for diners. This suggests a well-maintained establishment that prioritizes hygiene and comfort. While detailed descriptions of the decor or overall ambiance are not provided in the reviews, the cleanliness implies a welcoming and pleasant environment for enjoying a meal. The atmosphere appears to be straightforward and focused on dining. The fact that the restaurant is clean contributes to a sense of reliability and ease for customers, making it a comfortable spot for a casual Japanese meal. There's no indication of a particularly bustling or overly quiet environment, suggesting a generally standard and relaxed dining setting.
The service at Sakana receives commendable feedback from its customers. The staff are consistently described as "friendly staff" and their service as "great service." Mauro, a specific staff member, is highlighted for being "thorough and patient," which speaks to a high level of attentiveness and customer care. This indicates that the team at Sakana is dedicated to providing a positive dining experience, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and well-attended to. Good service can significantly enhance a meal, and it appears Sakana excels in this aspect, creating a pleasant interaction for its patrons. Even if some aspects of the food fall short for certain individuals, the positive service experience seems to leave a favorable impression, encouraging a comfortable visit.
Sakana offers a variety of Japanese dishes, with some shining brighter than others. The nigiri comes highly recommended, particularly the "kaibashira nigiri" which was described as "so good." The salmon and tuna nigiri were also noted as "excellent," suggesting that the quality of their fresh fish and traditional sushi offerings is a strong point. The takoyaki was deemed "good" and notably "included more octopus than other places that serve this," indicating a generous and satisfying portion of this popular appetizer.
However, some other dishes received mixed reviews regarding their value and composition. The ramen was "flavorful" but "required additional cost to add veggies to make it filling," suggesting it might be sparse on vegetables in its standard form. Similarly, the "Beef Curry Rice only had 2 or 3 small meat cubes and the rest was gravy and rice," though the gravy and rice themselves "did taste good." The curry ramen was not a favorite for one customer, who "wanted more curry flavor and aroma," and found the chicken "overcooked." This indicates that while the flavors of certain components (like the curry gravy) might be appealing, the balance of ingredients and protein portions in some dishes can be a point of contention for diners. Overall, Sakana appears to excel with its nigiri and certain appetizers, while some of its more substantial dishes might require managing expectations regarding portion size and ingredient balance relative to the price.
While explicit promotional offers are not provided, the general perception of value at Sakana appears mixed. Customers found the overall experience "a bit pricey for what we got" and some "left somewhat unsatisfied" due to the perceived small portions of protein or vegetables in dishes like ramen and beef curry rice. This suggests that while the quality of certain items, particularly the nigiri, is high, the overall value for money on other menu items might not meet every customer's expectations for a filling meal.
Despite these concerns, the restaurant's strengths—friendly staff, a clean environment, and excellent nigiri and takoyaki—remain strong draws. For those prioritizing fresh sushi and certain well-executed appetizers, Sakana could still be a good choice, especially given the positive service experience. The consistency of friendly and thorough service, as highlighted by Mauro's exemplary conduct, contributes significantly to the overall dining comfort, making it a viable option for those who value good service alongside their meal. Ultimately, the value proposition at Sakana seems to rest on its strong suit of fresh fish and appetizers, rather than being an all-encompassing budget-friendly option for larger, more complex dishes.

Sakana Reviews
Friendly staff. Clean place. Ramen was flavorful, yet required additional cost to add veggies to make it filling. Beef Curry Rice also only had 2 or 3 small meat cubes and the rest was gravy and rice, which did taste good. Overall, a bit pricey for what we got and we all left somewhat unsatisfied.
Feb 04, 2025 · Brian BakerThe kaibashira nigiri was so good. The salmon, tuna nigiri were also excellent. The takoyaki was good and included more octopus than other places that serve this. I was not a fan of the curry ramen, because I wanted more curry flavor and aroma. The chicken was overcooked though. I'll try the curry rice next time I'm in town.Service was great. Mauro was thorough and patient!
Oct 27, 2024 · NamI absolutely had the best experience here. My waiter, Jarrod, was amazing and super friendly! Chatted about a series I was watching and he was so nice! Shout out to his gf who is also watching the same series! And big thanks for the glass of wine! The sushi was amazing and my order came out timely. I love the ambiance. They turned the lights a little lower and it was perfect for the evening. I went there solo and was very comfortable and enjoyed my dinner so much and got to try Uni for the first time and it was delicious! I can’t wait to go back and to tell my friends about this place!
Apr 07, 2025 · Ashley NavaWe’ve been coming to Sakana for years, drawn in by its warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and truly authentic sushi at a very reasonable price. It’s always felt like a hidden gem in our neighborhood and we’ve recommended it to friends and neighbors time and again. We were sorry to learn that the original owner has retired, and we unfortunately realized this due to the changed flavor during our recent visit. The sushi rice seemed drier than before and just a touch stale—rice being the foundation of every sushi and roll means getting the rice right really makes all the difference. We also found the ramen pork to be cut a bit too thick without much flavor (perhaps it's a different part?), which felt less balanced than we’ve come to expect from a great Japanese ramen.More than anything, we love this place and want to keep coming back. If the new management is looking to retain longtime regulars (and win over new ones), we’d suggest starting with a warm welcome & notify them of the recent transition, and maybe asking for feedback right after the meal. A little extra attention goes a long way in showing you value our loyalty and want to perfect the menu we all fell in love with.
May 27, 2025 · Mimi BielAte here last night for the first time and very glad we did. Very accommodating for me and my service dog which was appreciated. We both had sushi and loved it. I tried the house "Sakana" roll with a small sake. Perfect combo. The table next to us had ramen and it looked amazing, will try it next time (although I agree with another reviewer that the add ins here- like a boiled egg- come standard anyplace else). They don't open until 4:30 but the place was packed by 5. Will def return!
