Sake House

1141 Falls River Ave # 128, Raleigh, NC 27614, USA

4.0
Always been a favorite! But I must point out some things that need work and attention to detail. The booths are very old and seats are ripping. Feel the wires poking through. We had to move ourselves to a less “uncomfortable” table. Still old seats. We had to just move without asking because the waitress would not look our way so we could tell her. After we moved, she still didn’t look and didn’t come!! Next, we waited a long time until I got tired and went up to the front counter. Because we were going to miss the lunch special by this time! Finally a waitress comes. Takes our order and disappeared. There were 3 people in our party but only gave us us 2 menus. Even if it’s a minor, still a person right? No water, no silverware, no straws, no sugar, basic stuff. Asked for to go boxes. Brought them and no bag so how am I to carry this food conveniently? We had to keep calling them over for basic things like napkins. The food was good as always but the pad Thai was lacking flavor and chicken. It was packed with rice noodles though. I liked the Kani salad more. It seemed to me that they are understaffed and employees were rushing through every table. Definitely will re-think before coming back here. - Claudia Alvarado

Features / Highlights

Sake House, despite some recent operational challenges, still holds several features and highlights that have historically made it a favorite among local North Carolina residents:

  • Consistently Good Food (for many dishes): Despite some recent feedback, many customers, especially long-time patrons, affirm that the food is "good" and "delicious." Specific praise has been given to their soups and sushi, as well as the hibachi rice.
  • Fresh Sushi: Reviews indicate that the sushi is generally fresh and tasty, with a wide variety of rolls and nigiri options available, including specialty rolls.
  • Generous Portions: The hibachi rice, in particular, is noted for its ample size, being "enough to share and then some," which offers good value to diners.
  • Diverse Menu Offering: The blend of Japanese sushi and hibachi with popular Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Yum Soup provides a comprehensive menu that can cater to various cravings, making it a versatile choice for groups.
  • Convenient for Delivery/Takeout: For those preferring to dine at home, Sake House has a strong presence on delivery platforms like DoorDash, making it a convenient option, particularly noted by customers ordering during times like illness.

However, it's important to acknowledge recent feedback concerning potential areas for improvement. Some reviews mention issues such as aging booth seating, delayed service, and a lack of attentiveness to basic table necessities like water, silverware, and napkins. There was also a specific comment about Pad Thai lacking flavor and chicken, while being packed with rice noodles. These points suggest that while the food itself generally retains its quality, operational aspects of the dine-in experience might currently be inconsistent. Potential customers should manage expectations regarding dine-in service, but the quality of certain food items and convenience of takeout remain draws.

Promotions or Special Offers

Sake House may offer various promotions, though specific details can vary. Based on common practices for Japanese restaurants in the area and some customer feedback, here's what locals might expect:

  • Lunch Specials: Many Japanese restaurants, including those offering hibachi and sushi, typically have lunch specials available during weekday hours. These often feature smaller portions of popular entrees or sushi combos at a reduced price, possibly including soup or salad.
  • Online Ordering Deals: Sake House is available on various third-party delivery platforms (like Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub). These platforms frequently run their own promotions (e.g., percentage off first order, free delivery over a certain amount) that Sake House may participate in. While a past review mentioned that a "BOGO on rolls offered in the restaurant isn't available when ordering through Grubhub," this implies that in-restaurant promotions might differ from delivery app promotions.
  • Potential In-Restaurant Promotions: The mention of a "lunch special" that a customer was worried about missing due to service delays suggests that Sake House does offer specific in-restaurant deals, possibly for lunch periods. It's always best to inquire directly.

To get the most accurate and current information on any ongoing promotions or special offers, it is highly recommended to check Sake House’s official website (if available), look at their listings on popular food delivery apps, or directly call the restaurant at (919) 676-5788 before your visit or order. This will ensure you have the latest details on any available deals.
