Key features and menu highlights include:
- Bento Boxes: The bento boxes are noted for being "pretty generous with good quality and portions," even with a price point of $28 for two choices. Popular choices include "tempura and grilled mackerel," suggesting a reliable quality for these classic components.
- Grilled Skewers (Yakitori/Kushiyaki): These are a significant draw, with specific recommendations for "eggplants, scallop wrapped with bacon, pepper and pork belly." This indicates a varied selection of expertly grilled items.
- Sushi and Rolls: The restaurant offers various sushi and rolls. The "Sexy Casanova" roll received a positive 4/5 rating, described as "very delicious." The "Queen (baked)" roll was rated 3/5 and considered "good for a baked roll." However, the "Golden Gate" roll received a lower rating of 1/5, with the flavor described as "falls flat." This suggests a "hit or miss" quality across the sushi roll selection, but with some clear winners.
- Fresh Fish Quality: Despite some inconsistencies in rolls, the "quality of the fish is good overall," which is a crucial aspect for any Japanese restaurant serving raw seafood.
- Beverage Selection: The restaurant is noted for offering a "good choice of Japanese wine" (likely referring to sake, which is a traditional Japanese rice wine, or possibly other Japanese alcoholic beverages), enhancing the authentic dining experience.
Other items like "Seafood Tofu Soup" received a low rating for being "terrible" and "tasteless," indicating that not all menu items are of consistently high quality. However, the strengths in bento boxes, grilled skewers, and certain sushi rolls, combined with generally good fish quality, suggest that diners can find excellent options. The name "Oyster Bar" in the title also implies a focus on fresh oysters, though no direct customer reviews were provided for this specific feature.
Regarding promotional information, Sakebomb Izakaya 'n Oyster Bar appears to leverage its unique offerings and atmosphere as its primary draw. The mention of "happy hours" is a direct form of promotion, encouraging customers to return at specific times for potentially discounted prices on food and beverages. This suggests an active strategy to attract patrons during off-peak hours or for specific occasions.
The positive reviews highlighting "good quality and portions" for the bento boxes and the strong recommendations for specific grilled skewers serve as powerful word-of-mouth marketing. Customers' desire to "come back to try its happy hours" indicates successful marketing through their current offerings and the pleasant dining experience. The "cozy and quiet" atmosphere is also a significant promotional point, appealing to those seeking a relaxed Japanese dining experience away from more boisterous settings. While no explicit online discounts or loyalty programs are detailed, the intrinsic value offered by generous portions and fresh ingredients, combined with the inviting ambiance, drives customer interest and repeat business. The distinct blend of izakaya and oyster bar suggests a unique niche that naturally attracts a specific clientele.
In conclusion, Sakebomb Izakaya 'n Oyster Bar in Sunnyvale offers a cozy and quiet Japanese dining experience with a focus on izakaya-style dishes, bento boxes, and fresh fish. Sakebomb izakaya n oyster bar Reviews
The price of a bento box has steadily gone up with inflation. At $28 for two choices, we picked tempura and grilled mackerel, the bento is pretty generous with good quality and portions. We also like the grilled skewers, in order of my recommendation, of eggplants, scallop wrapped with bacon, pepper and pork belly. The restaurant feels cozy and quiet, seemingly offering a good choice of Japanese wine. We would come back to try its happy hours .

Jan 12, 2025 · Frank Mario CastellonIt was late getting into the hotel across the street so we gave their late nite happy hour a try. I know it’s Calif but “happy hour” didn’t appear to affect drink value… maybe they cut the price a little and make them smaller. We tried a few 串物(grilled skewers) but were underwhelmed. One staff member was really upbeat n friendly. Others were a mix. A light was out over our table- see pics, kinda dark.
Jan 02, 2024 · Joe SanThis was my second time having sushi and Boe I'm obsessed! Very good and it was close to our hotel. The spicy tuna sushi was yummy along with the California roll. I also had tempura shrimp! Very yummy. It was a quiet place and our servers were very nice.
