Sakura Hermitage Introduce
Sakura Hermitage, located at 3451 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076, USA, presents itself as a local destination for Japanese cuisine, including both traditional sushi and the popular hibachi steakhouse experience. When considering a restaurant within the "Doctor Near Me" platform category, which typically focuses on immediate local needs and services, Sakura Hermitage fits in as a readily available option for dining out or ordering in for residents in the Hermitage area. While not a medical service, the broad interpretation of "Doctor Near Me" can encompass businesses that cater to daily life and well-being, such as providing a convenient and accessible meal.
The environment of Sakura Hermitage, based on various accounts, aims to provide a traditional Japanese steakhouse atmosphere. Online sources mention that the restaurant is "ensconced in wooden accents and dotted with Japanese artwork," offering a "cozily festive atmosphere." Diners can choose to sit at "sleek wooden tables" or at the "curved bar," where they can observe chefs at work. There's also mention of a "cascading stone garden brimming with verdant plants" in a corner, adding to the aesthetic. The hibachi areas are generally described as nice, and the place is often packed during dinner service, which can be an indicator of its popularity. However, some reviews do suggest that the decor and booths could benefit from aesthetic upgrades, with some mentioning "falling off the wall" decorations, indicating that while the foundation of the ambiance is present, there might be areas that have seen better days or are in need of refreshing.
Regarding services, Sakura Hermitage offers both dine-in and takeout options. Customers can place orders over the phone by calling (615) 883-1498 or +1 615-883-1498. The restaurant is also available for delivery through third-party platforms. For dine-in experiences, the restaurant provides a hibachi show, where chefs prepare meals tableside, offering entertainment alongside the food. This interactive dining experience is a significant draw for many. However, customer feedback concerning service consistency is notable. Some reviews express frustration with service, describing it as "literally the worst you will ever receive," with servers reportedly taking orders and then not returning. There are also mentions of an automatic 18% gratuity added to every check, even for single diners, which has been a point of contention for some patrons, despite understanding that tips are shared with chefs. This policy, coupled with perceived inattentiveness, has led to dissatisfaction for some.
The key features of Sakura Hermitage lie in its diverse menu offerings, primarily Japanese cuisine with an emphasis on hibachi and sushi. The hibachi menu often includes steaks, seafood, and vegetables cooked on a grill, promising a sizzle and a show. The sushi bar offers "handcrafted morsels," with various rolls and sashimi options. Popular items mentioned in other reviews include the "Combo B" for sushi, specialty rolls like the "sexy Laraine roll," "Tuna Pizza," "Crab Rangoon," and "Shrimp Tempura." While many praise the "fresh and delicious sushi" and the "tender and juicy" filet mignon, as well as crispy tempura, there are some inconsistencies reported. A significant concern raised by a customer relates to the preparation of steak, with multiple instances of orders for "rare" steak being cooked "well done to the point it's hard and hardly edible," even after calling in requests. This indicates a potential issue with consistency in the kitchen's execution of specific cooking preferences. Furthermore, some customers have noted that the quality of rolls has recently declined, with them being "barely filled with anything and the taste was off."
Another crucial point of concern highlighted in customer feedback is the restaurant's health score. A review explicitly mentions that the establishment has "like a 70 on their health score." While it is important to note that health inspection scores can fluctuate and represent a snapshot in time, a score in this range typically suggests areas where improvement is needed in terms of hygiene and food safety practices. For local users, this information is particularly relevant when making dining choices, as it directly impacts public health and safety. It is advisable for prospective diners to seek the most current health inspection reports for comprehensive information.
As for promotional information, the restaurant leverages the appeal of authentic Japanese cuisine, particularly the entertainment value of hibachi cooking. The online presence and availability for takeout and delivery through platforms like DoorDash and Uber Eats serve as a form of promotion, highlighting their accessibility and convenience. While specific current deals or discounts are not detailed in the provided information, the restaurant's longevity and established presence in the Hermitage area suggest a consistent customer base. The ability to cater to both dine-in experiences with hibachi shows and convenient at-home dining via takeout and delivery broadens its appeal. However, the promotional efforts would need to address the service and food consistency concerns raised by some customers to maintain and attract new clientele. For individuals seeking a Japanese dining experience in Hermitage, Sakura Hermitage offers a range of options, from a lively hibachi show to a diverse sushi menu, but potential customers should be aware of the varied feedback regarding service and food preparation consistency.

Sakura Hermitage Reviews
If I could leave a zero star review I would. I love the food at this place and it makes me sad that I will no longer be ordering or dining in there. When I dine in, the food is right but the service is literally the worst you will ever receive. Severs take your order and then never come back after that. Then they decide to add an 18%gratuity to every check, even to single person checks. I always tip over 20% because I know they share tips with the chefs but demanding me to tip is just in ridiculous so I no longer tip anything outside of the 18%. The situation that broke me from ever going back though was the fact that I order multiple orders a week from this restaurant and I always call in after I order and ask them to cook my steak rare, because there isn’t an option for that online. Everytime I order, regardless of the fact that I call in, it’s always wrong. It’s always cooked well done to the point it’s hard and hardly edible. Today I called and did the same thing as always, I called in after placing and asked them to cook the steak rare. Upon getting my order and getting home, my steak was indeed cooked very well done, yet again. When I called and told them about how this has happened multiple times, her answer was “well I looked at it and it was not cooked well done.” I said “maam I’m not trying to be argumentative but I just tried to eat this steak and it was so well done that I couldn’t chew it.” And to which she replied “well either you can bring my steak back or you can eat it.” I had drove 30 minutes in total for this food and didn’t want to get out again in the rain and she said “well all I can do for you is give you 10% off the next time you eat here because I don’t know how the chef’s do it, but it wasn’t well done” I politely told her that me not any of my friends or family would be going back to this restaurant. Not to mention the fact that they have like a 70 on their health score.
Apr 11, 2025 · Amy AustinWe are pretty regular customers here and always spend $100+… we are pretty disappointed in the quality the past few times we have ordered. Our rolls were barely filled with anything and the taste was off as well.
Apr 02, 2025 · Isabel FonsecaIt was fun. Food was ok. Chef was fun, but seemed bored, as I am sure he was after doing the same shtick every day. Best for part of a laid back date night, or time with kids .
Jan 24, 2025 · J SchusterSakura is a solid meal out if you don't have a local sushi or hibachi place. The vibe is very different between the hibachi dining area and the other dining area. The hibachi area is lively, while the rest of the restaurant is pretty gloomy. Both sushi and hibachi are consistently good, but the miso soup leaves much to be desired.
Dec 24, 2024 · Ronan FriendDon't let the rundown exterior fool you there is absolute gold inside. Very delicious but the sake on draft is not great but that is absolutely my only complaint. Staff was very friendly.
