Engaging Hibachi Chefs: The "happy and very funny" chefs are a major highlight, providing not just a meal but an entertaining show that makes the dining experience memorable, especially for special occasions.
Excellent Food Quality: Customers consistently praise the food as "very good." Whether it's the hibachi-grilled meats and vegetables or the sushi, the flavors and preparation are highly regarded.
Fresh and Worthwhile Sushi: Despite occasional comments about service speed, the sushi is consistently described as "fresh" and "worth the wait," solidifying its status as a favorite sushi spot for many.
Great Atmosphere: The overall ambiance of the restaurant is highly rated, contributing to a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience for all patrons.
Ideal for Celebrations: The "birthday drum" and lively hibachi experience make it a perfect venue for celebrating special events like birthdays.
Superior to Local Competitors (for some): One review specifically notes that this place "still beats the one in Fayetteville," indicating a strong local preference and perceived higher quality compared to some regional alternatives.
It's worth noting that while the quality of food and entertainment are highly praised, some customers have experienced occasional slow service, particularly for larger groups. There was also a mention of potentially higher auto-gratuity for larger groups, which some found impacted their initial perception, though the overall positive experience of the food and entertainment often outweighed this.
While specific, rotating promotions are not explicitly detailed, Sakura Japanese Steak House inherently offers value through its engaging dining experience and robust menu. Many Japanese steakhouses typically feature:
Lunch Specials: Often, hibachi restaurants offer more affordably priced lunch menus, allowing patrons to enjoy the full hibachi experience at a lower cost during midday hours.
Birthday Celebrations: As mentioned, the "birthday drum" suggests they actively celebrate birthdays, which might come with a special treat or song, making it a great place for group celebrations.
Group Discounts: For very large parties, it's always worth inquiring if any group discounts or special fixed menus are available, beyond the standard auto-gratuity. (Though, as noted, auto-gratuity is applied to groups of 5+).
To inquire about any current or upcoming promotions, the best approach for North Carolina locals is to check their official website (if available) or social media channels, or to directly call Sakura Japanese Steak House at (910) 436-9888.

Sakura Japanese Steak House Reviews
Our first real fire burning japanese restaurant, with non Japanese serving and cooking. People who was sat after us was served first i think thats because of the 18% Gratuity for my group of more than 5 people when the other had 3 people. The chef was happy and very funny. Birthday drum. The food was very good. Great atmosphere. This place still beats the one in Fayetteville but not the ones on the Islands. I will be coming back.
