Sando Sando Cafe, operating within the Belleville Bites model, focuses on providing efficient and convenient services to its New Jersey customers.
Takeout: This is the primary service offered. Customers can place their orders and pick them up directly from the Belleville Bites location. The innovative system includes a robot that brings the food to the front, where a human then places it into a specific locker for contactless pickup, notified by a code sent to your phone. This makes the pickup process incredibly smooth and modern.
Online Ordering: Sando Sando Cafe facilitates online ordering through various platforms, including their own website and popular third-party delivery apps like DoorDash, Grubhub, and Beyond Menu. This allows customers to browse the full menu, customize their selections, and pay in advance from the comfort of their home or office.
Delivery: Partnering with major food delivery services means you can have Sando Sando Cafe's delicious offerings brought right to your doorstep within their designated delivery radius. This is a highly convenient option for those living or working in Belleville and surrounding New Jersey areas who prefer not to pick up their food.
Sando Sando Cafe stands out with several unique features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for Japanese food lovers in New Jersey.
Specialty Sandos: Their signature offering is a range of Japanese sandwiches, or 'sandos.' Popular choices include the Chicken Katsu Sando (fried breaded chicken cutlet with shredded cabbage and special sauce) and the Tamago Sando (Japanese egg salad and cabbage sandwich). These sandos are praised for their generous servings and great taste, offering a unique and satisfying meal.
Innovative Ghost Kitchen Model: Operating within "Belleville Bites," Sando Sando Cafe utilizes a modern ghost kitchen concept. This allows them to focus solely on food preparation and efficient service for takeout and delivery, often leading to quicker order fulfillment and a diverse menu alongside other "restaurants" in the same facility.
Automated Pickup System: A distinctive feature of Belleville Bites is the use of a robot to bring food to the front for locker pickup. This adds an interesting, futuristic element to the takeout experience, making the process contactless and efficient. As one customer noted, "A robot carries your food to the front and then a human puts it in a specific locker. You get a notification on your phone and then you scan your code and then the locker pops open."
Diverse Japanese Menu: Beyond sandos, Sando Sando Cafe offers a broader array of Japanese street food and comfort dishes. Their menu includes Donburi (rice bowls like Gyudon and Katsudon), various tempura items (Shrimp Tempura Sando, Vegetable Tempura), classic appetizers such as Potato Croquettes, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Gyoza (pork, chicken, and vegetable), and even Japanese fried chicken (Chicken Karaage). They also offer traditional Japanese sweets like Taiyaki and Dorayaki.
Extensive Drink Selection: The cafe also boasts an impressive list of beverages, including a variety of bubble teas (Assam Black Milk Tea, Hojicha Milk Tea, Brown Sugar Bubble Milk), fruit teas, and unique lattes like Matcha Cream Latte and Dalgona Coffee. Sando Sando cafe Reviews
I ordered their Chicken Katsu Sando and Tamago Sando and Vegetable Dumplings for lunch on DoorDash. Although the delivery was late by an hour, the food is still pleasantly surprised! The Sandos come in large servings and taste great. The dumplings are mediocre. Would love to visit to try them hot:)
Dec 21, 2023 · Mingxuan ShenInteresting place. Takeout only. It’s inside the Belle Ville Bites. Many “restaurants” within one place. You can order inside on the tablet or online and you’ll see the variety of foods/cuisines.Yes, the area looks pretty sketchy. There’s a bunch of warehouses around. And a gym.A robot carries your food to the front and then a human puts it in a specific locker. You get a notification on your phone and then you scan your code and then the locker pops open. Close the locker when you’re done as per the guy working there.Got sandwiches from Sando Sando. They were interesting. I can see myself coming back if I’m ever in the area to try something else.
Sep 22, 2024 · Esther PPretty much a fast food take out only place. I’d stick to their sandwiches rather than their bowls. I ordered the pork Katsudon and croquettes. The croquettes were great but the pork was pounded so thin it was like eating pork jerky. Overrall not worth the price but it’s quick takeout
May 29, 2024 · Jordan LiWe got the pork katsu and the okonomiyaki.Though the toppings for the okonomiyaki were a lot, the pancake itself felt very undercooked and lacked flavor. The pork katsu was VERY thin and the sauce was only enough to cover the pork. There was not enough to go around for the half inch layer of cabbage and rice. The egg was also pretty much cooked through.I was looking forward to this place because of what I saw on their instagram page but was very disappointed.
Jan 13, 2025 · Samantha YUWhat a great find! I saw them while browsing endlessly on delivery apps, looking for a somewhat authentic looking Japanese place. It looked very legit, and their menu is very Japanese and very unlike most "Japanese" places around (nothing against your typical sushi and teriyaki restaurant but I was looking for & craving something else). As someone that has traveled to Japan many many times just to go eat, I was happy to find this spot. We ordered the pork Katsu sando, the gyudon (beef bowl), and a side of takoyaki (octopus "croquettes") for a total of $31. This fed 2 of us pretty well, although we eat less than the average American. The first impression was great, good and thoughtful packaging (the takoyaki lid has an open corner so the steam doesn't soften the dish), the sandwich comes cut in half and with wrapping paper for easy grabbing. The first bite was like stepping back in Japan. All the flavors were in the gyudon ($14): the soy sauce saltiness, the umami from well cooked onions, the sweetness in the sauce, and the sourness of the ginger. The sando ($9.50) is also very good, not oily at all, and with a slice of tamagoyaki (sweet egg omelette) that I like so much. I'd say the only thing is that the bread of the sandwich didn't seem to be Japanese style, which tends to be softer, but it was still good in conjunction with the other ingredients.Takoyaki 🐙 ($7.50) was good in taste and size, but not very hot (I could reheat next time).I'd like to try more dishes in the future, and I'm curious to know who's behind this Japanese cafe, and I wish theyd open a branch in Newark so I can eat there more often :)Great job guys, you made my (stomach's) day today!
