Their dedication to a streamlined menu allows them to focus on the freshness and preparation of their core offerings, ensuring that each bowl of udon or plate of tempura meets a standard of authentic flavor. It's a place designed for efficiency and value, catering to the busy lives of Californians who appreciate good food without a long wait or a hefty price tag.
Sanuki Sandou is conveniently situated within the well-known Mitsuwa Marketplace at 3760 S Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90066, USA. This location in West Los Angeles provides excellent accessibility for residents in surrounding neighborhoods like Mar Vista, Culver City, Santa Monica, and beyond. Being part of the Mitsuwa Marketplace, a prominent Japanese supermarket, means that visitors can easily combine their dining experience with grocery shopping or exploring other Japanese goods and cultural items available on site.
A significant advantage of this location is the ample parking available within the Mitsuwa Marketplace complex. Finding parking in Los Angeles can often be a challenge, but the large lot here makes it relatively easy for customers to visit. The restaurant operates as a counter-service establishment within the food court, offering a casual and efficient dining environment. This setup makes it an ideal spot for a quick lunch or an informal dinner, particularly for those on the go or looking for a convenient meal during a shopping trip.
Sanuki Sandou's menu is focused on traditional Japanese comfort food, primarily udon, curry, and tempura. Here's a breakdown of their services and offerings:
- Dine-In Service: Customers can enjoy their meals at the communal tables within the Mitsuwa Marketplace food court. The experience is designed for speed and convenience, perfect for a quick bite.
- Udon and Soba Noodles: Sanuki Sandou offers a variety of hot and cold noodle dishes. Patrons can choose between udon (thick wheat noodles) or soba (thin buckwheat noodles) for many of their soup-based dishes. Popular hot noodle options include:
- Beef Noodle in Soup
- Beef Curry Noodle in Soup
- Shrimp Tempura Noodle in Soup
- Plain Udon/Soba Noodle in Soup
- Curry Dishes: In addition to noodle soups, Sanuki Sandou serves Japanese curry, often paired with beef or other proteins over rice. Their Beef Curry Bowl is a popular choice.
- Rice Bowls (Donburi): A selection of satisfying rice bowls is available, offering various toppings over steamed white rice. These can include:
- Beef Bowl (Gyudon)
- Katsudon (Pork Cutlet Box)
- Shrimp Tempura Bowl
- Kakiage Tempura Bowl

- Shrimp Tempura
- Croquette
- Egg Tempura
- Isobe-Age (fishcake with seaweed)
- Tempura Set (e.g., with edamame, isobe-age tempura, shrimp tempura, and egg tempura)
- Takeout Service: For those who prefer to enjoy their meal elsewhere, Sanuki Sandou provides convenient takeout options. This is ideal for locals on the go or for enjoying at home.
- Beverages: A selection of basic beverages like sodas is available to complement your meal.
Sanuki Sandou distinguishes itself with specific characteristics that appeal to its customer base:
- Authentic Udon and Soba: The restaurant prides itself on serving traditional Japanese udon and soba noodles. Many reviews commend the quality of the noodles themselves, often describing them as having a good, chewy texture, a hallmark of well-prepared udon. The broths are generally noted for their traditional dashi (fish broth) base.
- Crispy Tempura: A significant highlight mentioned by customers is the tempura. It's often praised for being "light, crispy, and perfectly golden." Items like shrimp tempura are particularly popular and can be enjoyed as a side or incorporated into noodle and rice bowls.
- Reasonable and Affordable Prices: One of the most frequently lauded features is the affordability. Customers consistently mention that the "prices are very reasonable," with small dishes starting as low as $6. This makes it an excellent option for a budget-friendly yet satisfying meal. For example, one reviewer noted ordering a tempura set and a small beef curry bowl for a total of just $12.
- Quick Service: As a food court establishment, efficiency is key, and Sanuki Sandou delivers. Service is generally "quick and friendly," catering to those looking for a fast meal without a long wait.
- Variety of Combinations: While specializing, Sanuki Sandou offers a good variety of combinations, allowing diners to pair their chosen noodles or rice bowls with different tempura items or curries. This flexibility ensures there's something for various tastes.
- Convenient Location within Mitsuwa Marketplace: Being inside Mitsuwa Marketplace enhances the overall experience. Customers can grab a quick meal before or after doing their Japanese grocery shopping, making it a convenient one-stop destination for many needs.
However, it is important to acknowledge that customer experiences can vary. While many appreciate the value and quick service, some reviews have pointed out inconsistencies in food quality, particularly regarding the proportion of meat to rice in some rice bowls or the taste of certain ingredients. There have also been comments regarding the availability of basic amenities like water, or differences between menu photos and served dishes. Sanuki Sandou seems to be best appreciated for its quick, casual, and affordable approach to Japanese comfort food, particularly its udon, curry, and tempura sets.
Sanuki Sandou, operating within a high-volume food court environment, typically relies on its consistent pricing and quick service rather than extensive, fluctuating promotions. Their primary "special offer" is the inherent value found in their competitively priced menu items, which allow customers to enjoy authentic Japanese dishes at an affordable cost.
For example, the pricing structure, with "very reasonable" dishes starting around $6 for a small item and full sets for about $12, acts as a continuous incentive for budget-conscious diners seeking a quick and satisfying meal. While there isn't widely publicized information about ongoing discount programs or loyalty clubs directly from Sanuki Sandou, their presence on third-party delivery platforms like Uber Eats or DoorDash means that customers might occasionally find platform-specific promotions (e.g., free delivery for first-time users, or percentage off for certain order values) that include Sanuki Sandou.
It's always recommended for local users to check the menu and any active promotions on popular food delivery apps or directly inquire at the counter for the most current information regarding pricing or any temporary specials.

Sanuki Sandou Reviews
You buy dinner and spend more than 20 dollars, but they won't give you a cup of water. The food is terrible. I ordered number 26, and a small number 23. What the photo shows on their menu, is not what they serve you. See photos of the same item. That is known as false advertising. The dishes are 95 percent rice and the pork is chewy meat, covered in onions and egg to hide the terrible meat. The rice also tasted like soap.I spoke to the lady at the counter about the false advertising, and she simply shrugged.Do NOT eat there!!!

Feb 12, 2025 · Ashanthi DissanayakeAfter the remodeling the price menu , each item prices went up way too High for what it is.The owner must be smoking something. When the good balances between price and menu itself , Service gets broken then sales would come to the halt.It was decent before but now it's better to cook it all at home.
