Saru Sushi Bar, as a high-quality, popular establishment, typically focuses on the inherent value of its fresh ingredients and exquisite preparation rather than offering extensive "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense of discounts. However, there are aspects of their menu and service that could be considered "special offers" in terms of unique value or experience:
- Omakase Selections: The availability of chef-curated omakase menus (including a general omakase and an all-salmon variation) is a significant "special offer." It provides a unique, trust-the-chef experience where diners are presented with the freshest and most exciting seasonal ingredients, often featuring premium cuts not always available à la carte. This offers an elevated, bespoke dining journey.
- Lunch Specials: Saru offers specific lunch specials which provide excellent value for midday diners. These include Chirashi (chef's choice sashimi over sushi rice), Sushi Combo (choice of roll with nigiri), Maki Combo (three different rolls), Unagi Don, and Veggie Don. These structured combos offer a more affordable entry point to Saru's quality during lunch hours.
- Tasting Spoons and Unique Appetizers: Dishes like the "signature tempura-fried seaweed cracker topped with spicy tuna and avocado," or tasting spoons of seared ankimo and halibut tartare, act as special culinary highlights. They allow diners to experience inventive flavors in small, perfectly portioned bites.
- Rare and Premium Fish Selection: The constant availability of "top shelf fresh seafood" and rare imports (like certain Japanese mackerels, char, or specific cuts of tuna) can be considered a special offering. For sushi connoisseurs, access to such high-quality ingredients is a draw in itself.
- Seasonal Highlights: While not a discount, their commitment to showcasing "seasonal fish from Japan and around the globe" means that the menu regularly features "special" items that are at their peak freshness and flavor, providing a dynamic dining experience.
Given their "no reservations" policy for dine-in, arriving early, especially for dinner or during prime lunch hours, could be considered a strategy to "secure" the special experience of dining at this sought-after establishment. For the most current lunch specials or seasonal features, checking their online menu or inquiring directly is advisable.

Oct 20, 2024 · T HOh my God! That describes Sarah Sushi bar. Since I’ve visited Japan, I found it very difficult to find good or great sushi. This place has both. And their service, they provide detailed information with a friendly demeanor. The food was unique and the fish exceptionally fresh. The sake was divine. It’s a small place so you wait, but it’s worth every minute. I don’t live in San Francisco, but now I can tell you every time I’m there Sara sushi bar will be my first stop. Kudos to your brilliance.
Mar 03, 2025 · China BushellSaru is among the best sushi restaurants in Northern California and beyond. I have eaten at some of the finest sushi restaurants in California and Saru is at the top. They have an excellent selection of fish and their presentation is simple and authentic. The service is excellent. I have never had an experience that was below expectation.
May 10, 2025 · Cyrus BuhariThis has been one of my favorite sushi spots in the city. They have lunch from Friday to Sunday. Few pcs to multiple pcs of Omakase to choose from. I love the salmon skin salad and the fish are alway fresh and yummy here. The nigiri it’s not over sized. It’s seasoned and the size it’s one bite perfect size. Tamago also taste like a honey cake. I love to save it to the last. Service it’s good as well. Down side it’s not easy to find parking in this area.
