Shabuway specializes in shabu-shabu, a Japanese hot pot dish where thinly sliced meat and fresh vegetables are cooked in a simmering broth. The restaurant's core appeal lies in the quality and freshness of its ingredients and the customizable nature of the meal. Here are its key features and culinary highlights:
- All-You-Can-Eat Option: This is a major draw for Shabuway. Customers can enjoy unlimited servings of meat, vegetables, and other add-ons for a reasonable price, offering excellent value.
- High-Quality Meats: The quality of the meat is consistently praised. Diners appreciate the freshness and tenderness of the thinly sliced beef and other protein options. The meats are typically fresh and simple, allowing their natural flavor to shine.
- Fresh Vegetables: The vegetable platters are noted for their freshness, offering a healthy and colorful complement to the meats. Typical offerings include various leafy greens, mushrooms, tofu, and noodles.
- Flavorful Broth Options: While the broth itself is designed to be simple and a base for cooking, it forms an essential part of the experience. It is often described as a clear and light base.
- Excellent Dipping Sauces: The variety and quality of the dipping sauces are a significant highlight. These sauces are crucial for adding depth and flavor to the cooked ingredients, and Shabuway offers a good selection to enhance the dining experience. Common sauces include ponzu (citrus-based soy sauce) and goma (sesame sauce).
- Simplicity and Quality: While it might not offer the vast, self-serve variety of some other hot pot places, Shabuway focuses on delivering a simple yet high-quality shabu-shabu experience. The emphasis is on fresh ingredients and the pure taste of the food.
- Lunch Specials: Many shabu-shabu restaurants offer special pricing or smaller sets during lunch hours, which can be a more affordable way to try the experience.

- Direct Communication with Staff: If service seems lacking or if you have specific requests, don't hesitate to speak up, as management has shown willingness to address issues and provide compensation.
- Consider Dine-In Experience: Shabu-shabu is inherently an interactive dine-in experience. While takeout options might exist for prepared items, the true essence of Shabuway is best enjoyed in the restaurant.

Shabuway Reviews
I finally tried this place after living nearby for years and I honestly wish I had come sooner. I had read a few bad reviews about the customer service, but my experience was completely different. We came in early, and Uki, the manager, was doing everything on her own greeting guests, slicing the meat, and serving tables. She was incredibly friendly, efficient, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Her effort really stood out and made the whole experience even better. The food was very fresh, and we ordered the all you can eat option. The quality of the meat, the veggies, and the dipping sauces were all excellent. Plus, the price was very reasonable for what you get.It was my first time here, and I’ll definitely be coming back. This place deserves more love sometimes you just have to try it yourself instead of relying on mixed reviews
May 08, 2025 · Bobby TThis place is okay if you want a simple little hot pot meal. It’s not like a self serve hot pot experience, where you have large variety of noodles, veggies and other sauces, etc.Service was pretty non-existent for us, until I spoke up to ask about our protein/meat. The manager did give us discount on our bill which was nice to compensate for the lack of timely service. The food quality is good, not memorable but simple and good.
Apr 28, 2025 · Jocelyn “JM” MartinezCame over for lunch. It is a typical shabu restaurant. There is a special menue for lunch where guests select the type of cut, and broth. Some broth has spicy rating so make sure to select the spicy level that you can be comfortable with. The broth is a little on the salty side. Meat is freshly prepared, same as vegetables. Attentive staff to check on guests. The place is not much busy at that time.
Aug 30, 2024 · qlv assocI recently visited this restaurant and ordered the Kobe beef. I was genuinely looking forward to enjoying a high-quality meal, but the experience was very disappointing. As shown in the photo, the beef served had large sections of brown-colored fat. This is not only unappetizing—especially for shabu shabu—but also raises concerns about freshness. Who wants to eat meat that looks like that? The fat was brown and discolored, far from the fresh, marbled appearance you expect when ordering Kobe beef. If the fat looks like that, it shouldn’t be served to customers at all.The first dish we received was somewhat eatable after I removed most of the fat. However, this dish, after a few bites, I noticed the flavor still didn’t seem right—it had a strange, metallic taste. I asked my son to try it, and we both agreed something was off. We decided to stop eating it.Beef, especially premium cuts like Kobe or anything intended for shabu shabu, should be stored properly and served fresh—with a vibrant color and clean marbling. Discolored fat and off flavors are a clear sign of poor handling or quality issues. At the very least, dishes in that condition should not be brought out to customers.I didn’t complain during the meal because my son asked me not to. Afterward, he asked if I would want to come back. When I turned the question back to him, he said he never wanted to return. Even a 15-year-old could tell that the beef didn’t taste fresh or healthy.I won’t be returning. I hope the restaurant seriously reviews its quality control before serving dishes like this again.
Apr 09, 2025 · N AhnFoodGreat Quality. Ordered mostly the Kobe beef and was not disappointed. Workers freshly slice all the meat on the spot and immediately begin cutting the meat after an order. On both of my visits, went with the All you can eat. If you are willing to eat around 3 servings of their meat, you can make up the price.ServiceVery friendly staff and service on both of my two visits. Consistently refilling broth, sauces, waters, etc. Very easy to communicate and place orders.AtmosphereTypical shabu atmosphere. Not too loud or quiet.
