Shoryuken Introduce
For those of us in the vibrant California Bay Area, particularly around South San Francisco, the idea of an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) experience that truly delivers on both quality and quantity is a dream come true. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant that goes above and beyond, offering not just unlimited sushi but also delicious hotpot, you absolutely need to discover Shoryuken. This remarkable spot has quickly become a local favorite, celebrated for its generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and unbeatable value, making it the perfect destination for a serious feast with friends and family.
Shoryuken stands out in the crowded Bay Area dining scene by perfecting the AYCE model. Unlike some buffets where quality can be an afterthought, Shoryuken ensures that its food, from fresh sushi to savory hotpot ingredients, is consistently "above average" in quality. The value proposition is particularly compelling, with competitive pricing that includes a wide array of options and even drinks (excluding premium choices). Whether you stumble upon it by accident or seek it out specifically, Shoryuken promises a satisfying and enjoyable dining adventure that offers incredible bang for your buck. Come hungry, because you'll want to try everything!
Shoryuken Japanese Restaurant is conveniently located at 321 Grand Ave, South San Francisco, CA 94080, USA. Grand Avenue is a well-known and central street in South San Francisco, making the restaurant easily identifiable and highly accessible for both local residents and those visiting from surrounding Bay Area communities.
One of the significant advantages of its location, as highlighted by customers, is the "plenty of parking" available. This is a huge plus in an urban area like South San Francisco, making it hassle-free for diners who drive. Additionally, Grand Avenue is typically well-served by public transportation routes, offering convenient access for those who prefer to use buses or other transit options. The ease of getting to Shoryuken, combined with ample parking, makes it an ideal spot for a planned group outing or even a spontaneous decision to satisfy your sushi and hotpot cravings.
Shoryuken provides a comprehensive range of services, primarily focused on its unique all-you-can-eat dining experience, designed for maximum enjoyment and convenience:
All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Dine-In: This is Shoryuken's signature offering. They provide a comfortable and spacious environment perfect for enjoying unlimited sushi, sashimi, and hotpot. The AYCE model allows guests to order as much as they like from an extensive menu, ensuring everyone leaves fully satisfied.
Hotpot: As part of their AYCE offering, Shoryuken features a hotpot component, allowing diners to cook a variety of meats, vegetables, and noodles in flavorful broths right at their table. This interactive dining style is perfect for groups and adds another dimension to the all-you-can-eat experience.
Sushi & Sashimi: A core component of their AYCE offering is a wide selection of sushi and sashimi, prepared fresh. Customers note the "food quality is above average," and even premium fish options are available for an additional cost.
Diverse Food Selections: Beyond hotpot and traditional sushi, the AYCE menu includes a variety of other dishes. Reviewers mentioned delightful "shrimp and crab cocktails" as a bonus, indicating a broad offering that goes beyond just the main attractions.
Friendly and Efficient Service: Patrons consistently praise the "friendly and efficient" service. Despite the potentially chaotic nature of an AYCE establishment, the staff ensures that orders come out promptly, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.
Included Drinks: A notable perk of their AYCE pricing is that drinks (excluding premium options) are often included, adding to the overall value proposition and convenience for diners.
Shoryuken distinguishes itself in the Bay Area dining scene with several key features that make it a highly attractive destination for locals:
Unique AYCE Sushi & Hotpot Combo: This is Shoryuken's primary draw. Offering both unlimited sushi and hotpot under one roof is a rare and highly desirable combination, providing immense variety and catering to different cravings within the same group.
Above-Average Food Quality for AYCE: Unlike some all-you-can-eat spots, Shoryuken is consistently praised for having "above average" food quality. This applies to both their sushi and their hotpot ingredients, ensuring a satisfying culinary experience rather than just sheer quantity.
Generous Portions and Inclusions: Customers highlight "generous" portions even within the AYCE format. The inclusion of dishes like "shrimp and crab cocktails" and drinks (non-premium) as part of the base price adds significant value.
Reasonable and Tiered Pricing: Shoryuken offers a "very reasonable" pricing structure with three distinct tiers: one for just hotpot, one that includes sushi, and a premium tier that encompasses more exclusive foods and alcohol. This allows diners to choose the option that best fits their budget and preferences, providing excellent "value for quality of food."
Cost-Effectiveness: Reviewers explicitly state that ordering similar quality and quantity of food à la carte elsewhere "would have easily been double the price," underscoring the exceptional value Shoryuken offers.
Spacious Dining Environment: The restaurant is described as "spacious," which is beneficial for accommodating groups and contributes to a comfortable dining experience, even when busy.
Friendly and Efficient Service: Despite the demands of an AYCE model, the service is consistently noted as "friendly and efficient," ensuring a smooth and pleasant interaction with the staff.
Perfect for Group Feasts: Given the AYCE format, generous portions, diverse menu, and spacious setting, Shoryuken is explicitly recommended as "perfect for a feast with friends," encouraging a communal and indulgent dining experience.
Shoryuken's primary "special offer" is its all-you-can-eat model itself, which is designed to provide exceptional value for money. The tiered pricing structure allows diners to select a level of indulgence that suits their budget, with options ranging from just hotpot to a comprehensive package that includes sushi, premium items, and even alcohol. The inclusion of non-premium drinks in the base AYCE price is another significant value proposition.
While specific, time-limited promotions aren't explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, the consistent feedback points to the inherent value of their core offering. It's always a good idea for locals to call Shoryuken directly at (650) 379-8150 or check their website (if available) or social media channels for any seasonal deals, weekday lunch specials, or new additions to their AYCE menu. Given their focus on providing a "feast," any additional offers would likely enhance this generous experience.

Shoryuken Reviews
If you're looking for an AYCE sushi and hotpot spot, Shoryuken is the place to be! The food quality is above average, portions are generous, and you can even add premium fish for an extra cost. During our visit, they also had shrimp and crab cocktails, which were a great bonus. The pricing is very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food, and drinks are included (except for premium options). Service is friendly and efficient, the place is spacious, and there’s plenty of parking. Perfect for a feast with friends—come hungry!
Feb 22, 2025 · Jay FrankeraFound this gem by accident. We were headed to another spot that wasn't quite open yet when a member of our group happen to walk by this place. The value for quality of food, especially for an AYCE, was amazing. There are 3 price teirs, 1 for just hot pot, 1 that includes sushi, and 1 that includes premium foods and alcohol. Even the premium price was reasonable when considering the included items. Typical order of similar quality food would have easily been double the price elsewhere.
Apr 28, 2025 · Nhia YangGreat new AYCE sushi + hotpot for a fantastic price. We were quite surprised by the price point for the sheer amount of food you can get (while emphasizing no wastage).Great cuts of meat (really liked the pork belly and wagyu; the lamb skewer appetizers were also great), lots of excellent sushi (bluefin chu toro, truffle hamachi roll, crispy rice sushi), dope ice cream variety and a solid offering of drinks from across regions! I personally got a white grape juice drink with jellies in it that absolutely slapped. We got the tonkatsu broth for the hot pot, which was had a subtle umami flavor to it without overpowering the meat or veggies!Very hospitable service in a nice location, looking forward to coming back again in future trips!

Sep 27, 2024 · Kay TShoryuken! All you can…eat. Nice japanesey ambiance. We went for AYCE sushi on the weekday. Buy 3 got 1 person for free, perfect for our party of 4. AYCE included free drinks, access to the bars, and ice cream. We were so full, I didn’t have room for dessert. Food was great, fish was fresh and portions sizes were large. Staff was friendly. Careful not to over order, or you will be charged extra for not finishing (oops!)
