Sunny's Sushi Reviews
1st visit. Expansive menu. Arrived 5PM on Sat. Friendly greeting. 1 of several locally owned spots. Reese was our host. Offered he was newly hired. But intent of giving us best service. And he did. My pics speak for our orders. All was fresh, hand roll was perfect and soup was classic. Great spot if nearby. I'm eager to return.
Feb 24, 2023 · Bob DuranUpdate review:My husband came back for dinner yesterday, and noticed the new dinner menu. We were so excited to be back. Unfortunately, our eyebrows came together in confusion when we noticed the new prices here have become ridiculous. It was $58 for 2 pretty basic rolls and 1 order of smoked salmon sashimi (6pcs), water for drinks and this was before tip. It's become more expensive than higher end sushi places we have been to in Miami, LA, and Houston. While the food was good and the service was good, these prices do not match at all anymore, and I say that from a place of love.As someone whose family owns several businesses like this, I understand that restaurants are trying to recover from the pandemic, but to charge $16 for salmon sashimi is pushing it, to charge an additional $7 to have it smoked (total of $23 for 6 pieces of thin sliced raw salmon) is crazy when nicer sushi restaurants with more prestige in London charge $15-20 for smoked salmon sashimi.I'm feeling disappointed but hopefully next visit will be different.----------------------------------------------------------From the delicious rolls, the tasty sashimi, to the customer service, this place is top notch. We frequently go to Sunnys on the far east side on Montana, and this place was even better. The environment and the ambiance is classier, quieter, and more elegant. The food is more expensive here by a few dollars, but after trying their selection of nigiri and sashimi, it's very clear why. The quality and the flavor of their fish is just amazing. Our waitress (who was training another girl as well) was absolutely the best. Helpful and patient. We ordered the 28D nigiri/sashimi plate, and 2 rolls, and 2 drinks. Total was around $73. No complaints here, the entire experience was great.
Sep 02, 2021 · Elizabeth Amy PosadaWe really enjoy eating here! Had the lunch boxes.Atmosphere and decor are beautiful, and the staff are great.Owner did a great job on her restaurant and we will come back soon. Food is good and so is the sushi bar. Go early before the lunch or dinner crowd arrives. Try it, you decide! David
Mar 09, 2025 · David ManagoWent to lunch, which normally they do a great job. This time, however, it took 45 min. They got my bf's order wrong plus the rice was hard. The chicken teriyaki seemed so generic, like maybe it was already made? They used to have such good food here. Im disappointed.
May 19, 2025 · Denise ServoWell, I didn't even get to try their food. First time here and wanted to try it, after ordering to-go (2 rolls) I waited and waited, probably about 35 min, and people who walked after us were being served already, so I asked the cashier how much longer and she looked and said "I think she's making it now", so I explained that people after me were already being served and I wanted long enough, so I just needed a refund, so she called the manager wich finish what she was doing before she acknowledged my situation, so I got up and asked her who was going to help me (I was growing annoyed because of the lack of urgency). The manager comes tries finding my order, then says "I already made it" looking at me like if I had it, the proceeds to talk to the staff. I can see about 3 people gather at the end of the counter talking, she approaches them and they are looking down to a plate, they took my order to the wrong table and nobody said anything until I asked, she offered to re make it but I was upset and declined, just wanted my money back. I worked in the food industry for many years, I would have done anything to ensure the customer didn't leave upset, make different offers to ensure they would come back and give us another chance, but this wasn't the case here, just an "oh, sorry". I won't be back.
