Also, I welcome Takumi trying to land the high-end sushi scene (not omakase) in San Carlos cause we desperately need more in the Peninsula.Unfortunately, Takumi is making the same exact mistake that brought that Seiya. The taste and quality of the food and sushi does not justify its price. They are on par with regular Japanese restaurants and admittedly, some of the nigiris are made with a bit more care and love. We sat at the sushi bar and observed the chef put his best efforts. But again, it just doesn't justify the price. Also, some of the ingredients may not be the freshest. Don't get me wrong, the food overall is good. But not at that price point.The other sense of confusion was around whether Takumi was going for the traditional nigiris or a bit of fusion. I always welcome creativity but with a theme or philosophy. At Takumi, there's a bit of confusion in the air. Some were progressive while others were traditional. Service was terrible, they forgot our misosoups, we had to ask several times for wasabi and ginger, and it was never brought out. The Nigiri was delicious, but the rolls were very average. Would not recommend relative to places that are a lot cheaper with similar quality.
