Tamashi Reviews
I have spent entirely too much money at this place, but only because they're THAT good.I've had the takoyaki, the miso soup, the tonkotsu ramen, the crispy dragon roll, this one limited edition January roll, and I've probably eaten half my weight in sashimi at this point. All of it is FANTASTIC. The sashimi is very fresh, some of it is very rich-tasting, which is telling of the quality in my opinion. This is also one of the few places in town that serves kizami wasabi which is leagues better than the paste stuff you're probably used to. The ramen is also fantastic, highly suggest it as well as the takoyaki. The staff are also very polite, very personable.Pictured: the 15 piece chef's choice sashimi, and the tonkotsu ramen.
March 12 · Halie BaribeauTamashi has been recommended to me several times, so I figured it was time that I finally try it!For my appetizer, I ordered the Avocado Bomb and oh my gosh! This was my favorite thing out of my entire meal! I’ll be ordering this every time I go!Then I ordered their Spicy Ramen. I’m not a ramen connoisseur or anything, but now that it’s colder, something hot sounded nice! I loved the broth and it had such a nice kick to it.Lastly, I tried their Sex and the City sushi roll! They had so many sushi options to choose from, but their menu said this roll was their most popular, and I can definitely understand why! It was one of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had!Overall, I had a really good experience. I’m actually quite sad that it took me this long to try it! The food was phenomenal and the customer service was good. They weren’t busy at all, which was a little surprising since it was Saturday at lunch time.
December 03 · Alexandria GonzalezThe sushi roll and 25 piece sashimi were both really good. Fish tasted fresh and the sashimi pieces were generous and had nice textures. They served the sashimi platter with fresh wasabi which was a delicious surprise.Staff was nice enough, but they really never came back to check on us or refill our water. I had to flag down another server to get more ginger. We were sitting at the sushi bar, so maybe that’s a part of it since our backs are turned.
December 09 · Laura MannThe best sushi and ramen for an affordable price I’ve ever had in Houston honestly. Their ramen lives up to the hype and especially their sushi is extremely fresh as well as their rice. I would highly recommend the roll special and I like the quaint vibe to the place as it’s quite small and looks like as traditional sushi place in Japan.
January 05 · James BelangerWe come here often enough to recognize the servers, so obviously we enjoy the sushi. However, over time the sashimi portions have noticeably shrunk, and we always order sashimi, so it's obvious to us. What used to be five thick slices for ~$20 is now maybe half the size, as pictured (if you look at other review photos, you can see the difference). If we wanted nigiri-sized fish, we would have ordered nigiri (which we do as well). Overall, just kind of disappointing that they'd cut back on portion sizes so noticeably like this.
