Tatsuda Omakase is not just a meal; it's an immersive and highly recommended adventure for discerning sushi lovers across the city.
Tatsuda Omakase is consistently praised for delivering an "amazing deal" and an "absolutely one of the best omakases in Manhattan" from a value perspective. Customers rave about the quality, noting that "every single piece was delicious" and that the restaurant "don't skimp on the good stuff like Uni, Wagyu and fatty tuna." Standout dishes mentioned include the "unagi with foie gras, bluefin tuna, and wagyu with truffle," with one reviewer emphatically stating, "everything was great - there wasn't a piece I didn't enjoy." The efficiency of the experience is a significant highlight, especially in a city where time is precious. The chef moves "through all 16 courses with great efficiency - rarely did we wait more than a few minutes between courses." Beyond the food, the service receives universal acclaim. The staff is described as "fantastic," "beyond attentive," and even goes the extra mile, with one customer recalling being "offering us free sake and water because my friend and I were catching up." The drinks, too, are noted for being "very pictureless and delicious." With multiple repeat customers, including one who's been there "three times" and "100% recommend this place," Tatsuda Omakase clearly delivers a consistently high-quality and enjoyable omakase experience that often exceeds expectations, especially given its competitive pricing.

The restaurant's accessibility is a significant advantage. It's just a short walk from several major subway stations, providing convenient access from virtually any part of the city. The Times Square-42nd Street subway complex, one of New York's largest and most interconnected transit hubs, is very close by, offering access to numerous lines including the A, C, E, N, Q, R, W, 1, 2, 3, 7, and S (Shuttle) trains. Its central location makes it a practical and exciting choice for a special meal in the heart of the city.
Tatsuda Omakase specializes in offering a chef-curated sushi experience, known as omakase. This means their services are focused on delivering a meticulously prepared, multi-course tasting menu, rather than an à la carte selection. Here’s a detailed look at what they offer:
- Omakase Tasting Menus: The core of Tatsuda's offering. They feature multi-course omakase menus with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and expert preparation.
- Dinner Omakase: A 16-course Dinner Omakase, lasting 75 minutes, for $90 per person.
- Lunch Omakase: A 13-course Lunch Omakase, lasting 60 minutes, for $75 per person.

- Unagi with Foie Gras
- Bluefin Tuna
- Wagyu with Truffle
- Uni (Sea Urchin)
- Fatty Tuna (Otoro)
- Expert Chef Interaction: While specific chef names aren't always mentioned, the omakase format implies direct interaction with the sushi chef, who guides diners through each course, often explaining the fish, its origin, and preparation. This personal touch enhances the educational and enjoyable aspect of the meal.
- Beverage Program: They offer a selection of sake, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, all specifically fermented, brewed, and imported from Japan. Additionally, they provide wines and other locally sourced beverages, ensuring a diverse drink pairing for the omakase. The drinks are described as "delicious."
- Intimate & Efficient Dining: The restaurant operates in a "very small place," implying an intimate setting, with the chef moving "with great efficiency" through courses, ensuring a well-paced meal, particularly important for those on a schedule (e.g., pre-theater).
- Walk-in Seating Area: One review mentions a "little sitting area on the side where they kept on offering us free sake and water." This suggests a thoughtful approach to customer comfort, even for walk-ins or those waiting.

- Intimate Setting: The "very small place" creates a cozy and personal dining atmosphere, allowing for a more focused and immersive omakase experience.
As a dedicated omakase restaurant, Tatsuda Omakase's promotions are typically integrated into its core offering structure, rather than separate happy hour deals. The primary "special offer" is the exceptional value itself, especially for the caliber of sushi provided.
- Competitive Omakase Pricing: Tatsuda Omakase is highly lauded for offering one of the best value omakase experiences in Manhattan. Their 16-course Dinner Omakase at $90 per person and 13-course Lunch Omakase at $75 per person are considered highly competitive, especially given the inclusion of premium fish like Uni, Wagyu, and fatty tuna. This pricing structure serves as a continuous promotion, attracting diners seeking high quality at an accessible price point for omakase.
- Consistent Inclusion of Premium Items: Unlike some other omakase spots at similar price points that might limit or upcharge for certain high-value pieces, Tatsuda is noted for consistently including items like Uni, Wagyu, and fatty tuna in their standard omakase, enhancing its value proposition significantly.

Tatsuda Omakase Reviews
From a value perspective, Tatsuda Omakase was one of the better experiences I've had. My life wasn't changed, but considering the price point and convenience, it was fantastic. There were a few standouts - the unagi with foie gras, bluefin tuna, and wagyu with truffle. That said, everything was great - there wasn't a piece I didn't enjoy.I was also really impressed with how well-prepared they were. The fish was very well organized and portioned before we arrived, and our chef moved through all 16 courses with great efficiency - rarely did we wait more than a few minutes between courses. All in all - highly recommended and will likely return with more frequency in the future.
Apr 25, 2025 · Alec WatneyAbsolutely one of the best omakases in Manhattan. A very small place with an amazing deal, I believe less than $100 for around 14 or 16 pieces if I remember correctly. Every single piece was delicious and they don't skimp on the good stuff like Uni, Wagyu and fatty tuna. I have been here three times and even went on their opening day and the service is fantastic. They even have a little sitting area on the side where they kept on offering us free sake and water because my friend and I were catching up after not seeing each other for so long. The staff is beyond attentive and the drinks are very pictureless and delicious too! Like I said, I've been there three times and 100% recommend this place and will be back!
May 14, 2025 · Stephanie BraganzaTatsuda Omakase was a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely fantastic, and the intimate setting made for a cozy and memorable meal. The location is convenient and adds to the charm of the experience. My only wish was for the chef to be a bit more engaging and for the experience to last a bit longer, but the quality of the food more than made up for it. Highly recommend for sushi lovers looking for a unique dining experience in NYC!
Dec 31, 2024 · Melanie Hine (Lischer)For the quality of their offerings and the price you pay, this place is a gem in New York. The chefs are friendly and knowledgeable, presenting each dish that they prepare with meticulousness right in front of you. The omakase features a 13-course selection, each piece carefully crafted and elegantly presented. We tried the sweet shrimp nigiri and the pike perch extra from the omakase - both of them were delicious. Moreover, when they served the wagyu with truffles, you are offered complimentary sake (it was actually a very rare and special types of sake). Loved their defender shot whole experience and will definitely recommend it. The experience lasts around 80 minutes, depending if you want to order some other dishes or not. Among my favorites were the uni, the salmon roe, the sea bream and the yellowtail.
Mar 24, 2025 · Maraeach bite feels like a delightful surprise! From the melt-in-your-mouth tuna to the intricate garnishes, every detail is pure magic. The chef’s artistry and creativity shine through, making it not just a meal, but an unforgettable experience
