Tensai

222 E 51st St, New York, NY 10022, USA

4.0
It had been raining often, so I was craving something warm and comforting. I found this place on Google Maps—it had great reviews, though I’ve often found that highly rated spots can be disappointing. I went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. The food was quite good, with a simple and traditional flavour that hadn’t been altered.Among the Japanese restaurants I haven’t reviewed on Google, I’d say this one ranks high in terms of cleanliness and the straightforward, honest taste of the dishes. It’s slightly to the east, but if you’re near Rockefeller, just walk straight along 2nd East and it’s easy to find. The prices are also reasonable. The restaurant is quite small, so booking is ideal, but it doesn’t seem too busy yet, so you should still be able to get a seat if you walk in. - Louise Louise
