The Brothers Sushi Santa Monica offers a comprehensive suite of services tailored for a high-end Japanese dining experience:
- Omakase at the Sushi Bar: This is a highly recommended and signature experience, where guests enjoy a chef-curated tasting menu. The omakase typically starts with 3 beautifully plated appetizers, followed by 10 sushi rounds, and concludes with a fresh dessert. There are two primary omakase offerings: Lunch Omakase for $100 per person and Dinner Omakase for $250 per person.
- A La Carte Dining: For guests seated at tables (not the sushi bar), an extensive A La Carte menu is available, allowing diners to select individual sushi pieces, rolls, and hot kitchen dishes.
- Premium Sushi and Sashimi: The menu features an impressive selection of high-quality ingredients, including Dry Aged Tuna Bluefin Maguro, Dry Aged Hamachi Yellowtail, Kinme Goldeneye Snapper, Wagyu Beef Miyazaki A5, and various uni selections (Japan, Santa Barbara).
- Innovative Rolls and Hot Dishes: Beyond traditional sushi, the menu includes specialty rolls like the cut salmon sushi roll and Soft Shell Crab Roll, alongside highly praised hot entrees such as Short Ribs (compared to Korean Galbi Jjim) and Miso Cod.
- Attentive and Thoughtful Service: The staff is consistently lauded for providing excellent, kind, and attentive service, including thoughtful touches like offering baskets for purses under the table.
- Beverage Program: Offers a selection of drinks, including elegant cocktails like the Tokyo Sour. A corkage fee of $50 per bottle applies for outside beverages not on their menu.
- Reservations: Reservations are highly recommended, especially for the omakase experience at the sushi bar, and deposits ($25 per person for table, $50 per person for bar omakase) are typically required upon booking.
- Takeout Options: While the dine-in experience is paramount, the restaurant does offer takeout specials like The Brothers Box, sushi platters, and DIY Hand Roll Kits for convenient at-home enjoyment.
The Brothers Sushi Santa Monica distinguishes itself with an array of exceptional features and highlights that position it as a top-tier Japanese dining destination:
- Unparalleled Food Quality: This is the most consistent and emphatic highlight. Customers rave about the "noticeably high quality ingredients" and the extreme freshness of the fish. Items like the scallop carpaccio and ebi are described as "amazing" and "melted in my mouth." The quality is often compared favorably to long-standing, respected Japanese spots.
- Exquisite Omakase Experience: The chef's tasting menu at the sushi bar is a significant draw, noted for being "amazing" with "beautifully plated appetizers, 10 sushi rounds, and fresh dessert." It's considered "worth every penny" for a special occasion.
- Authentic Japanese Ambiance and Service: The overall experience is said to "teleport us back to our Japan trip with the decor, service, and food," indicating a genuine and immersive atmosphere. The service is "excellent," "kind," and "attentive," with staff checking on diners "just the right amount."
- Signature Hot Dishes: Beyond sushi, the kitchen menu offers standout hot items. The Short Ribs are described as "amazing," akin to a highly reduced Korean Galbi Jjim, and the Miso Cod is equally praised for its freshness and flavor. Even the Fish and Chips are called the "best I have ever had."
- Thoughtful Details: Small but impactful touches, such as providing baskets under the table for purses, demonstrate a high level of hospitality and attention to guest comfort.
- Premium Ingredient Sourcing: The menu highlights luxurious ingredients like Dry Aged Tuna Bluefin Maguro, Wagyu Beef Miyazaki A5, and various types of uni, signaling a commitment to a high-end culinary experience.
- Consistently Impressive: For first-time visitors or returning patrons, the quality and experience consistently exceed expectations, even for those who typically "don't write Google reviews" or are "difficult to impress."
As a high-end Japanese restaurant known for its exquisite quality, The Brothers Sushi Santa Monica primarily offers its value through its premium dining experiences rather than frequent, broad discounts. However, there are structured offerings that provide a curated experience:
- Lunch Omakase: At $100 per person, the lunch omakase at the sushi bar offers a more accessible entry point to their acclaimed chef's tasting menu compared to the dinner omakase. This provides a great opportunity to experience their high-quality offerings during the day.
- The Brothers Box / Sushi Platters (Takeout): For those seeking a more casual or at-home experience, The Brothers Sushi offers curated takeout boxes and platters, such as "The Brothers Box" ($44.84) which includes spicy tuna rice cake, sushi nigiri, and a choice of roll, and "The Sushi Platter" ($112.10 for 20 pieces), offering their best quality sushi for home enjoyment. These provide excellent value for premium takeout.
- DIY Hand Roll Kits: For a unique at-home dining experience, they offer premium hand roll kits (e.g., $100.30 for ~3 people), which include a generous selection of high-quality fish like dry-aged Toro, Uni, and Bluefin Tuna, alongside all the necessary components.
Given the upscale nature of the restaurant, it is always recommended to check their official website (thebrotherssushism.com), their Tock reservation page, or popular premium food delivery platforms like Uber Eats for the most current menu details, pricing, and any seasonal or limited-time offerings. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for the omakase experience.

The Brothers Sushi Santa Monica Reviews
I don't write Google reviews but I had to because this is the best establishment I've ever eaten at. The service was excellent. The staff was kind, checked on us just the right amount, and had baskets that sat beneath the table so purses didn't sit on the floor. The cut salmon sushi roll was fresh. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had in my life. The fries weren't crisp but the flavor made up for it. If I was from here, I would never shut up about this place. But since I'm not, a passionate Google review will have to do.

May 30, 2025 · Ryan UngIf you’re searching for the best sushi on the Westside—possibly in all of LA—The Brothers Sushi in Santa Monica is where your journey ends. This isn’t just dinner; it’s an elevated, deeply thoughtful experience that showcases the absolute best of what sushi can be.The fish? Impeccable. Much of it is flown in daily from Japan, and every piece is handled with masterful precision. Whether you're indulging in their omakase or ordering à la carte, every bite is perfectly balanced, subtly complex, and unforgettable. The toro is rich and buttery, the Hokkaido scallop is impossibly delicate, and the uni tastes like pure ocean gold. The omakase is truly the star—it’s intimate, artfully paced, and constantly rotating with the seasons. You can feel the chef’s passion in every course. And even with the elevated quality, the atmosphere remains warm, relaxed, and unpretentious. It’s clear the team here is focused on one thing: excellence.Santa Monica is lucky to have a spot like this—a world-class sushi destination tucked into a calm corner of the Westside. For serious sushi lovers, this is a must.
