The Den at Azabu Miami Beach specializes in delivering a highly curated and intimate Japanese dining experience, primarily centered around its renowned omakase.
- Omakase Dining: The core offering at The Den is its exclusive omakase experience. This chef-curated tasting menu features premium seasonal selections, with fish often flown in directly from Tokyo's Toyosu fish market. The omakase guides guests through a series of courses, showcasing a range of flavors, textures, and expert techniques. It's an intimate affair, typically accommodating about 18 seats at the counter, allowing diners to witness the chefs' artistry firsthand.
- Chef's Table Experience: Given its omakase counter setup, The Den provides an immersive chef's table experience where guests can observe the master sushi chefs in action, slicing and serving with effortless precision. This direct interaction, though sometimes described as reserved, offers a unique insight into the preparation of each dish.
- Customizable Omakase (Name Your Omakase): For those who desire a more personalized journey, The Den offers a "Name Your Omakase" option. This allows guests to choose the number and variety of fish to suit their specific palate and preferences, with options for 5 kinds (10 pieces), 7 kinds (14 pieces), or 10 kinds (20 pieces). This flexibility caters to individual tastes while maintaining the high quality of the omakase experience.
- Full Bar Service & Pairings: The Den offers a variety of drink options to complement the meal. This includes a dedicated sake pairing menu, a whiskey flight, and various cocktails. The supporting staff is highly attentive with drinks, ensuring a seamless flow of beverages throughout the dining experience.
- Reservations Required & Prepaid Bookings: Due to its intimate setting and high demand, reservations for The Den are essential and typically require prepayment. This ensures commitment and helps manage the exclusive experience. A strict 24-hour cancellation policy is usually in place.
- Dietary Accommodations: While the menu primarily features raw fish and authentic Japanese ingredients, the chefs do their best to accommodate dietary restrictions if informed in advance, demonstrating their commitment to guest satisfaction.
The Den at Azabu Miami Beach distinguishes itself through a collection of unique features and highlights that elevate it to one of Florida's premier Japanese dining destinations.
- Authentic Edomae-Style Omakase: The Den specializes in Edomae-style sushi, which refers to traditional Tokyo-style preparation where fish is often aged, cured, or marinated to enhance its flavor. This authentic approach provides a depth of taste and texture that sets it apart from more casual sushi offerings.
- Exquisite Freshness and Ingredient Sourcing: A defining characteristic is the unparalleled freshness of its ingredients. The restaurant prides itself on flying in most of its fish directly from the Toyosu fish market in Tokyo multiple times a week. This dedication to sourcing premium, seasonal fish ensures that each piece of sushi "practically melts in your mouth."
- Master Sushi Chefs and Expert Technique: The omakase experience is helmed by Tokyo-trained master sushi chefs. Their precision, skill, and deep understanding of Japanese culinary artistry are evident in every "nicely prepared course" and the "balance of textures and flavors." The chefs work in harmony, creating a seamless and captivating culinary performance.
- Unique and Diverse Flavor Profiles: Guests consistently praise the "range of flavors and textures" in the omakase, noting that while nothing is "too wild and crazy," it also avoids "playing it too safe." Diners appreciate the inclusion of rich-flavored sushi pieces like "iwashi," kelp-pressed pieces, and unique flavors such as the "cherry blossom pressed cherry trout," offering tastes they hadn't tried before.
- Intimate and Reserved Ambiance: The "vibe and energy" of The Den lean towards the "reserved side," making it ideal for a "quiet dinner out." The sleek, blonde-wood interior, often made from Hinoki cypress, contributes to a serene and minimalist aesthetic, creating an atmosphere of sophisticated tranquility. This intimate setting allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the culinary experience without distractions.
- Extensive Beverage Selection: Beyond the food, The Den offers a wide variety of drink options, including an impressive selection of Japanese sakes (described as "the best"), whiskey flights, and various cocktails. This thoughtful beverage program perfectly complements the delicate flavors of the omakase.
- Attentive and Professional Supporting Staff: While the chefs maintain a professional demeanor, the supporting staff is noted for being "very professional" and "very attentive" with drinks and other needs, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.
The Den at Azabu Miami Beach primarily focuses on its premium omakase experience, and as such, does not typically run broad, publicly advertised promotions in the traditional sense, such as happy hour specials on food or widespread discounts. The value at The Den is inherent in the high quality of ingredients, the expert preparation, and the exclusive, intimate dining experience it provides.
However, it's worth noting that the "Den Omakase Experience" is priced at $150 per person for a 15-course meal (or 14 courses depending on the day of the week), which has been highlighted by some as an "accessible price" for a "luxury omakase experience" in Miami. Additionally, they offer a "Name Your Omakase" option starting at $100 for 10 pieces, providing a slightly more flexible price point for those seeking a tailored experience.
For specific details on seasonal menu changes or any potential limited-time offerings that might arise, it is always recommended to check their official website or contact The Den directly via phone. Given its high-end nature, direct inquiry is often the best way to learn about any unique opportunities.

The Den at Azabu Miami Beach Reviews
I was introduced to the wonders of omakasse by my now husband. It was one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had!Everything is so fresh and wonderful and the chefs are in sync and working in harmony. All the Japanese sakes are the best too.
Mar 17, 2025 · TatianaAs far as omakase goes, I'd describe the vibe and energy as leaning towards the reserved side. Good for a quiet dinner out. If anything I tend to like when the chefs are a touch more proactively engaged, and conversational about the course. Very professional here though and very attentive supporting staff with drinks and such.Really nicely prepared course with a range of flavors and textures. Nothing too wild and crazy, but not playing it too safe either. I appreciate having at least one really rich flavored sushi piece in there, like iwashi. A couple kelp-pressed pieces, and a really unique flavor from the cherry blossom pressed cherry trout. All excellent, and several I hadn't tried before.Variety of drink options include sake pairing, a whiskey flight, various cocktails, etc.Overall quite good!
Mar 05, 2025 · Tom SzelagGreat vibes and high-quality fish, with a limited but quiet private space. The food is a bit expensive, especially considering you can find similar or better options for the same cost.
Mar 15, 2025 · Yuxi LiuGreat Omakase and Sake pairing. The chefs and superb were amazing and the food delicious. Excellent experience all the way around.
Jan 25, 2025 · Brie Anne x Marshall Dorian Our Universal Force (Our Universal Force)Absolutely 5 star in every way.My husband and I were celebrating our ten year anniversary and upon entering the host greeted us by my name (I still don’t know how he knew it) and told us happy anniversary. We got celebratory champagne and entered into the beautiful room. The chef is incredible and so kind. He explained every dish to us and told us how to eat each dish which I appreciated. We were served 21 dishes, all exquisite. Our favorites were the medium fat tuna and the warm dishes, but there was not one single thing that was below 5 star.My husband loved his sake tasting and I got the Koi, which was delicious. At one point I got a stain on my menu and within 20 seconds I had a new one.The whole team is great and everyone seems to love what they’re doing. Cannot recommend this experience enough!
