The concept of a handroll bar focuses on freshly prepared temaki (handrolls) made to order, ensuring the nori (seaweed) remains crisp and the rice warm, a crucial detail for the perfect handroll experience. Coupled with an Izakaya menu, which offers a variety of small, shareable Japanese dishes and a curated beverage selection, The Nori provides a dynamic and engaging dining experience that caters to both sushi purists and those looking to explore a broader range of Japanese flavors. The Nori Handroll Bar & Izakaya, located in Las Vegas, Nevada, offers a distinctive Japanese dining concept that specializes in freshly made handrolls (temaki) and a diverse selection of small, shareable plates characteristic of an Izakaya. The restaurant is dedicated to providing a high-quality culinary experience, emphasizing the freshness of its ingredients and the authenticity of its Japanese flavors.
At the heart of The Nori's appeal are its handrolls. Unlike traditional cut rolls, handrolls are made-to-order right in front of the customer, ensuring the nori seaweed remains crisp, the sushi rice is warm and perfectly seasoned, and the fish is chilled to perfection. This attention to detail results in a superior texture and taste experience. Customers consistently describe the fish as "consistently EXCELLENT" and the handrolls as the "best" they've ever had.
Complementing the handroll bar is the Izakaya side of the menu, which features a variety of Japanese small plates designed for sharing. These include grilled skewers (yakitori), tempura, fried chicken (karaage), and various seafood dishes. This combination allows diners to enjoy a focused sushi experience alongside a broader exploration of Japanese comfort foods and unique appetizers.
Beyond the food, The Nori is praised for its "outstanding service" and a "friendly and knowledgeable" staff, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. The restaurant also boasts an "outstanding Japanese beer selection" that goes beyond typical offerings, further enhancing the authentic dining experience. South Decatur Boulevard is a well-trafficked thoroughfare that connects easily to major roads and highways in Las Vegas, including the I-215 Beltway, ensuring straightforward access by car. The Nori Handroll Bar & Izakaya Reviews
Outstanding service & food!!! Visiting the area for the night and decided to try it out. Outstanding Japanese beer selection, stuff you don’t normally find at an average sushi restaurant. Waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable. Chef came over and asked how everything tasted and if I needed anything. Would definitely eat here again!
May 15, 2025 · Adam LeidyBest handrolls I have ever had. The fish is consistently EXCELLENT. Absolutely nothing to complain about. I always stop here wherever I am anywhere near this place. I'd be here every day if I lived closer. I can't say enough good things about this place. Thanks to The Nori for excellence, every single time.
Feb 02, 2025 · Steve HydukeOur friend invited us to have lunch at this place, and there were about 5 of us. We ordered quite a bit of food, which I forgot to take pictures because we were so busy trying so many dishes. It was oue first time, and we enjoys everything we ate. The service was great, but it was probably because there wasn't too many people there on a Sunday at lunchtime. They don't have their liquor license yet, but they said we could bring in our own. We went to the liquor store a few shops down and bought some beer and Soju. We definitely will go back and try more dishes. The oyster were fresh and tasted like they came straight of the ocean. I ordered the eel bowl, and it was delicious. The sushi sampler was different and had these plastic covers you take off the seaweed, and the plastic kept the seaweed from getting soggy. Loved it. Again, we will definitely be going back to try more on the menu.
Nov 24, 2024 · Melanie De La CruzCame here on a trip from Orange County CA. We decided to go for sushi. Definitely was a great call to stop by here. One thing I can appreciate about Japanese food is that everything is an art. The presentation of the food seems to be carefully crafted for visual appeal matched with freshness. Also had the pleasure to meet the head chef Eddie, who seems to be very passionate about his job. Good food, good service, good times. Will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again.
May 25, 2025 · Thang TranWhat started as a convenient place for sushi ended as a saved place to go agin in the future. Hands down would recommend the spider and the dynamite (pictured). We got a ton of food and prices were very fair for the quality of food. Service was very polite.
