An objective introduction to Tokyo-ya Ramen requires a balanced presentation of customer feedback, acknowledging both its strengths and any areas of concern.
On the positive side, Tokyo-ya Ramen receives strong praise for its delicious food and excellent service. Customers consistently report that "Everything here was great." Specific highlights include the "great flavor" of the chicken katsu curry, the "juicy, big pieces" and "large portion" of the chicken karaage, and the overall "amazing" and "very attentive" service. The speed at which food is served ("within 10 mins") is also a significant positive, appealing to those seeking efficiency. Furthermore, the pricing is considered "great," offering good value, and the restaurant has cultivated a base of "regular customers" who "always loved" the place, indicating strong loyalty and consistent quality in their past experiences.
However, it is crucial to include a recent piece of feedback that notes a concerning incident. A "recent takeout order (two Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen)" contained "a piece of plastic in one of the bowls especially that bowls is for our kid." While the customer stated they were "not sure what it came from" and simply wanted to "bring this to attention in case it helps with the kitchen checks," this is a significant food safety concern. While this appears to be an isolated incident mentioned in the provided reviews, it is an important detail for potential customers to be aware of and for the restaurant to address.
Therefore, Tokyo-ya Ramen generally excels in providing a satisfying and quick dining experience with delicious food and attentive service at good prices. However, the reported instance of a foreign object in a take-out order is a point that, while isolated in the provided data, should be noted for transparency and diligence, suggesting that adherence to kitchen checks and quality control is paramount.
Drawing from the customer reviews, several strong promotional points for Tokyo-ya Ramen can be identified:
- Delicious and Hearty Comfort Food: The consistent praise for "great flavor" in the katsu curry, "juicy" and "big pieces" of karaage, and the overall positive sentiment towards their ramen, highlights their strength in delivering satisfying Japanese comfort food.
- Exceptional and Attentive Service: The recurrent mention of "amazing, very attentive" service, where the staff is quick to clear plates, creates a highly positive impression and encourages repeat visits.
- Speed and Efficiency: "Food came out within 10 mins" is a major promotional advantage, appealing to customers looking for a quick and convenient meal without sacrificing quality.
- Great Value and Portions: The affirmation that "Prices were great" and that karaage offered "large portion for an appetizer" signals good value for money, a key draw for many diners.
- Loyal Customer Base: The fact that they have "regular customers" who "always loved" the place speaks volumes about customer satisfaction and loyalty, building trust for new patrons.
- Family-Friendly: The consideration for children's meals subtly promotes the restaurant as a welcoming place for families.
In conclusion, Tokyo-ya Ramen in Federal Way, WA, is a highly-regarded Japanese restaurant that offers a strong combination of delicious, comforting Japanese cuisine, notably ramen, chicken katsu curry, and generous portions of juicy chicken karaage. It is known for its fast and "amazing, very attentive" service, and offers great value, which has cultivated a loyal base of "regular customers." While a recent, isolated incident involving a foreign object in a take-out order has been noted, the overwhelming sentiment from customer feedback points to Tokyo-ya Ramen as an excellent choice for a quick, satisfying, and authentic Japanese meal, serving as a reliable "Doctor Near Me" for your hunger.

Tokyo-ya Ramen Reviews
Everything here was great. We got chicken katsu curry, fried shrimp shumai, chicken karaage. Prices were great. Service was also amazing, very attentive. Curry has great flavor and nice chunks of meat. Karaage was so juicy, big pieces of chicken, large portion for an appetizer. Food came out within 10 mins.
January 31 · Ashley NicoleWe’ve always loved Tokyo -ya Ramen, and are the regular customers. However, in our recent takeout order (two Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen) we found a piece of plastic in one of the bowls especially that bowls is for our kid. We’re not sure what it came from, but we can confirm it was a piece of plastic. We just wanted to bring this to attention in case it helps with the kitchen checks.
May 17 · I TI had high hopes but unfortunately I left super disappointed. Came here on my lunch break today for the first time, spent $22 on my ramen and I couldn’t even eat it. I have light ginger hair and I pulled a long black hair out of my mouth. Found a couple more in my food after the fact. On top of that, the ramen was so painfully salty it wasn’t even remotely enjoyable. I’ve tried several different ramen restaurants and many different kinds of ramen, never have I had one THAT salty. Paying that much for my lunch just to have to throw it away is really upsetting, I will not be back. Time to find a different ramen place nearby.
January 28 · Jenna PhillipsMy first time having traditional Raman and it was amazing. Extremely delicious. We will definitely be back again soon to try most of the amazing dishes that they have to offer.
December 04 · Jennifer IcePlace is amazing! I got the tan tan ramen and man, it was so good. we got #2,4,5,6 and all of them were amazing. they keep quality at the top! definitely coming back here, and MOST definitely recommend. Seating is limited but nice. Good rating of 14.5/15
