When considering the environment of Toshi's Teriyaki, it's important to understand the typical fast-casual nature of many teriyaki establishments. Based on common expectations and the nature of such restaurants, Toshi's likely offers a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. This generally means a straightforward dining area, suitable for quick lunches, casual dinners, or takeout. The focus is often on efficiency and providing a comfortable space for diners to enjoy their food without excessive frills. While specific details about the decor are not provided, it's reasonable to expect a clean and functional space, designed for practical dining. It's the kind of place where you can pop in for a solo meal, grab a family dinner to go, or have a relaxed gathering with friends without the formality of fine dining. The ambiance is typically geared towards comfort and speed, reflecting the nature of a local eatery catering to a steady flow of customers.
The service at Toshi's Teriyaki, as gleaned from customer feedback, appears to be a mixed bag, yet with a common thread of friendliness. Some reviews highlight "good friendly service," suggesting that when the restaurant is operating smoothly, the staff is welcoming and attentive. This is a crucial aspect of any local establishment, as friendly service often encourages repeat business and creates a positive dining experience. However, it's also acknowledged that there "is wait time during busy hours," which is a common occurrence in popular eateries. This indicates that despite potential crowds, the staff is working to accommodate customers, even if it means a slight delay. It's advisable for patrons to consider visiting during off-peak hours if they wish to avoid longer waits. The feedback also hints at past inconsistencies, with one reviewer noting that service "used to be amazing" before a more recent negative experience. This suggests that like many businesses, Toshi's may experience fluctuations in consistency, which can impact the overall customer experience. It's important for potential diners to weigh these varying perspectives when making their decision.
Regarding features, Toshi's Teriyaki's core offering is its namesake: teriyaki. This typically includes various protein options like chicken, beef, or sometimes tofu, grilled and basted with their signature teriyaki sauce, served alongside rice and a simple salad. The phrase "Great flavor, good food" from a customer review indicates that the taste profile of their teriyaki is generally well-received. This suggests a classic, appealing teriyaki sauce that resonates with local palates. The primary feature, therefore, is the authentic and satisfying flavor of their teriyaki dishes. However, a significant feature to note, and a point of contention for some customers, is the portion size. One review explicitly states, "Portions are smaller than other teriyaki places." This is a crucial piece of information for potential diners, as portion size often impacts perceived value. Another reviewer even described receiving "countable pieces of lettuce filling less than a fourth of the container" and chicken totaling "half of what you’d typically receive for $15.99," suggesting a significant reduction in quantity compared to previous visits or other establishments. This variability in portioning could be a key characteristic that sets Toshi's apart, for better or worse, from its competitors. The establishment's focus appears to be on a streamlined menu, offering the quintessential teriyaki experience without extensive additions or complex dishes. This simplicity can be a feature in itself, allowing them to focus on perfecting their core offering. The fact that it's a "regular a couple months ago" for some customers also points to a loyal customer base, suggesting a certain appeal and consistent quality at times.
In terms of promotional information, while no explicit promotional offers or marketing campaigns are provided in the given data, several inferences can be made based on the nature of the business and its customer interactions. The "Doctor Near Me" platform itself serves as a form of promotion, increasing visibility for local businesses like Toshi's Teriyaki to users actively searching for nearby services. The very existence of positive reviews, such as "Enjoyable good & service" and "Great flavor, good food," acts as organic promotion, building trust and attracting new customers through word-of-mouth and online reputation. The mention of "wait time during busy hours" indirectly promotes the restaurant by indicating its popularity and demand, which can entice new customers who perceive a busy restaurant as a good sign. For local users, the convenience of its Mercer Island location is a strong promotional point, appealing to those looking for a quick and easy meal solution. For Toshi's, a key promotional strategy would likely revolve around emphasizing their classic teriyaki flavor, their convenient location, and their commitment to friendly service. They might consider loyalty programs or special deals during off-peak hours to manage customer flow and encourage repeat visits, especially given the feedback about portion sizes. Highlighting positive customer experiences and perhaps addressing or clarifying portioning consistency could also be effective promotional angles in their local marketing efforts.
In summary, Toshi's Teriyaki on Mercer Island is a local Japanese restaurant primarily known for its teriyaki dishes. It offers a casual, likely fast-casual environment suitable for various dining needs. While service is often described as friendly, it can experience wait times during busy periods and has faced recent criticisms regarding portion sizes and consistency. Its main feature is the "Great flavor" of its teriyaki, making it a go-to for those seeking this specific comfort food. For local users on platforms like "Doctor Near Me," Toshi's Teriyaki represents a convenient and generally well-regarded option for a quick and satisfying Japanese meal, particularly if the user values flavor and local accessibility. Prospective diners should be aware of the varying feedback on portion sizes and potential wait times, but can generally expect a friendly interaction and a tasty teriyaki experience.

Apr 22, 2025 · Ryan ManVery confused. Used to be a regular a couple months ago, service and food was amazing. Came back, I received a chicken teriyaki and salad that looked like my dog’s leftovers. The rice were in tiny ice cream scoops, countable pieces of lettuce filling less than a fourth of the container. The chicken! I literally received leftovers. They were tossed around, and totaling half of what you’d typically receive for $15.99. Taste was terrible. Just lost another batch of customers.
Apr 30, 2025 · hanaThis place is a gem. The owners are very friendly and the food has never disappointed me. Love the spicy Ramen noodles. Very laid back and casual restaurant.
Apr 17, 2025 · Torika St ClairOwnership must have changed. 2 years ago this was one of the best teriyaki spots. Now it’s a rip off with a poor product at very high prices. Horrible experience.$30 for this kalbi order. 90 perc bones, very little actual meat. Host was apologetic but $22.99 plus tax and tip this is $30 bucks for bones.Beyond stingy. Not customer focused.
Dec 15, 2024 · Jeff ShiuLast year I was here was great food but now it’s not good. The chicken was dry and not tasty, looks like the chicken was cooked day or two before, for the price is 16 dollars it’s very bad quality , it’s not soft and not fresh , I believe they make warm food which didn’t sell day or two before .
