Udon Mugizo Mountain View Introduce
For those in Mountain View, California, seeking an authentic and satisfying Japanese dining experience, **Udon Mugizo Mountain View** presents itself as a notable option. Located at 180 Castro St, Mountain View, CA 94041, this establishment specializes in udon noodles and a selection of Japanese appetizers. While the platform category "Doctor Near Me" might seem a broad classification, it places Udon Mugizo as a local provider of specialized "goods for sale," delivering delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine to the community. For inquiries or reservations, Udon Mugizo can be reached at (650) 961-8880 or via mobile at +1 650-961-8880.
Udon Mugizo offers a diverse range of Japanese dishes, with a particular emphasis on its namesake – udon. The **noodles** are a central feature, with two prominent types highlighted by customer reviews: **Tonkotsu Udons** and **Nabeyaki Udons**. The Tonkotsu variations are described as "rich," available with "three variations with different meat and toppings," all sharing the same flavorful broth. For those preferring a lighter option, the Nabeyaki Udons are "very good" and served "in a lighter broth with chicken." This choice between rich and lighter broths caters to different palates, ensuring a satisfying udon experience for a variety of preferences. A common element in both is the inclusion of shrimp tempura. However, a helpful tip from a repeat customer is to "always ask for the shrimp tempura on the side and skip the tempura bits" if you prefer to avoid sogginess, indicating a degree of flexibility in customization.
Beyond udon, Udon Mugizo excels in its **appetizer selection**. The **Chicken Karaage** is a standout, praised for being "excellent" with a "crunchy outside and very juicy inside." The use of "thigh meat" is noted as a key factor in preventing it from drying out, ensuring a consistently tender and flavorful bite. The **Adagashi Tofu** is described as "good," with tofu pieces that are "bigger than other places," though its taste is considered similar to other establishments. The **Vegetable Tempura** receives high acclaim for being "great," with "good size and cut pretty thick" vegetable pieces (unlike thinly cut alternatives at other restaurants). The variety of vegetables, including "broccoli, eggplant, squash, sweet potatoes, mushroom and corn," adds to its appeal, offering a diverse and satisfying tempura experience. While the **Katsu Curry Udon**'s curry itself is deemed "good," the katsu is considered "just okay, nothing special." Conversely, the **Beef Sukiyaki Udon** stands out for its "delicious" soup, which one reviewer enjoyed so much they "could of drank it as a beverage," though they desired a "second serving" due to an insufficient amount of beef. These detailed reviews provide a clear picture of the strengths and minor areas for improvement within their expansive menu.
The **environment** at Udon Mugizo Mountain View contributes positively to the dining experience. The restaurant features a "good outdoor seating area with umbrellas and heat lamps," making it a comfortable option for dining al fresco in various weather conditions. This outdoor setup is particularly appealing for both lunch and dinner, as noted by customers who have visited multiple times. However, a specific point of feedback regarding the environment is the restroom situation. There are "only 2 individual ones," and the "isle to wait for the bathroom is very narrow and it's between the kitchen and the dining area." This can lead to guests feeling "weird to stand in the way of the staff waking back and forth while waiting for the bathroom," suggesting a potential area for design improvement to enhance customer comfort and flow.
In terms of **services**, Udon Mugizo generally provides a positive experience. The "Service is decent and waiters/waitresses are friendly." This indicates a welcoming and attentive staff that contributes to a pleasant meal. While efficiency is not explicitly detailed beyond "decent" service, the friendliness of the staff certainly enhances the overall customer interaction. The ability to customize orders, such as requesting tempura on the side, further demonstrates a willingness to accommodate customer preferences, adding to the quality of service.
As for **promotional information**, the provided reviews do not explicitly mention specific time-limited offers or discount programs. However, the consistent positive feedback on the quality and authenticity of the food, particularly the Tonkotsu and Nabeyaki Udons, Chicken Karaage, and Vegetable Tempura, serves as a strong form of organic promotion. The detailed descriptions of menu items, highlighting the generous portions of well-prepared vegetables in tempura and the juicy thigh meat in karaage, act as compelling reasons for new customers to visit. The consistent quality across multiple visits ("Been here a few times for both lunch and dinner") also encourages repeat business. For local users accessing services via a "Doctor Near Me" platform, the authentic and high-quality Japanese offerings at Udon Mugizo Mountain View are themselves the primary draw, promising a satisfying culinary experience that stands on its own merits.

Udon Mugizo Mountain View Reviews
Been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. They have good outdoor seating area with umbrellas and heat lamps.Service is decent and waiters/waitresses are friendly. For appetizers:- Their Chicken Karaage is excellent. Crunchy outside and very juicy inside. I believe they use thigh meat which doesn't dry out like breast meat.- Adagashi tofu is good. Tofu pieces are bigger than other places, and taste like other places. Nothing special.- The Vegetable Tempura is great. The veggie pieces are good size and cut pretty thick (unlike some restaurants cut it very thin). The veggies include broccoli, eggplant, squash, sweet potatoes, mushroom and corn. For the noodles:- Tonkotsu Udons are rich. They have three variations with different meat and toppings. The broth is the same.- Nabeyaki Udons are very good. It's in a lighter brother with chicken. Both Udons are good, depends if you want lighter or richer broth. They also put the shrimp tempura in it. Personally I don't like it being soggy. I always ask for th shrimp tempura on the side and skip the tempura bits.If you need to use the bathroom, they only have 2 individual ones. The isle to wait for the bathroom is very narrow and it's between the kitchen and the dining area. It makes guests feel weird to stand in the way of the staff waking back and forth while waiting for the bathroom.
May 06, 2025 · KatrinaThe curry from the Katsu Curry Udon was good but the katsu was just okay, nothing special. The soup from the Beef Sukiyaki Udon was delicious and I could of drank it as a beverage. The beef was so damn good I wish I had a second serving; there wasn't enough beef. I could do without the tempura pieces.
Apr 25, 2025 · LawrenceDelicious homemade udon noodles! My friend and I arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday. We had a short wait before being seated at the communal table. It was quite crowded at the table so we were happy when our server came by again and offered to seat us at a 2 person table instead. We both ordered tonkotsu udon and split the corn tempura. I'm not a huge fan of corn but thought the tempura was quite good! The Udon noodles had a perfect texture and were just slightly chewy. The broth was quite rich with a good flavor. I loved the inclusion of a shrimp tempura and liked the generous spinach portion. Highly recommend!
Apr 10, 2025 · Michelle BarnesUdon here are pretty good but their standards seems to have drop since few years ago. Some of their tempura are cold and hard but their prawns are still as good as ever. Probably that’s what most people order as well, allowing it to be more fresh.Must tryUdon related dishesPrawn tempura
