Ultra Sushi Introduce
For Californians with a discerning taste for Japanese cuisine, particularly those in the vibrant Bay Area, Ultra Sushi in San Mateo stands out as a highly recommended destination. This establishment has garnered a reputation as one of the best all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi restaurants in the region, offering a compelling blend of variety, speed, and exceptional customer service. While some might traditionally associate AYCE with compromised quality, Ultra Sushi defies this stereotype, providing a robust and satisfying dining experience that caters to a wide range of palates.
In a state as culinarily diverse as California, where Japanese food is a beloved staple, Ultra Sushi distinguishes itself through its generous AYCE model. This allows diners to explore an extensive menu of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and a variety of hot Japanese dishes without the usual limitations of à la carte ordering. This freedom to sample numerous items is a significant draw for sushi enthusiasts and families alike, making it an adventurous and economical choice for a memorable meal.
Beyond the sheer volume of options, Ultra Sushi is consistently praised for its efficiency and friendly atmosphere. Customers frequently highlight the swift service and the timely arrival of food, ensuring that the dining experience is smooth and enjoyable, unlike other AYCE places where long waits between rounds can detract from the experience. This focus on operational excellence, combined with a "kid friendly" environment, positions Ultra Sushi as a go-to spot for families in California looking for a stress-free and delicious outing.
While individual experiences with food quality can vary, the overwhelming consensus points to Ultra Sushi as a place that delivers "delicious" food, making it a reliable choice for those seeking a satisfying sushi feast. Its ability to combine an expansive menu with prompt service and a welcoming ambiance solidifies its standing as a premier all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant in San Mateo for Californians to discover and enjoy.

Ultra Sushi in San Mateo is primarily known for its compelling all-you-can-eat (AYCE) model, which itself acts as a significant special offer, providing extensive value to diners. This fixed-price option for unlimited food (and often drinks) is a key promotional draw. Based on available information and common practices for AYCE sushi restaurants in California, here are the main "promotions" or special offers:
- All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Sushi and Japanese Cuisine: This is the core offering. For a set price (e.g., around $45.99 for adults and $22.99 for kids under 10, as mentioned in older reviews), diners can enjoy unlimited items from a vast menu of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, appetizers, and hot dishes. This effectively serves as a comprehensive "promotion" for a complete dining experience.
- All-You-Can-Drink (AYCD) Sake Option: Often bundled with the adult AYCE price, Ultra Sushi is noted for including unlimited sake, significantly enhancing the value for those who enjoy alcoholic beverages with their meal.
- Efficient Ordering System: While not a "promotion" in the traditional sense, the system that allows food to come out "at good intervals" rather than long waits between rounds maximizes the value of the AYCE experience for the customer within the typical 90-minute time limit. This operational efficiency is a benefit to the customer.
- Kid-Friendly Pricing: The significantly lower price for children under 10 makes it a more affordable and attractive option for families, encouraging group visits.
It is important for potential diners to confirm the most current pricing and any specific terms and conditions (e.g., time limits, limits per round on certain premium items, charges for uneaten food to prevent waste) directly with Ultra Sushi by calling them or checking their official website or menu on popular delivery platforms. These details can sometimes vary.

Ultra Sushi Reviews
Terrible sushi (and salads), very low quality ingredients, some of the hot food was served cold (but it was replaced no problems). Very overpriced for what you’re getting. But service was fast and the staff were very friendly. Restaurant itself was large and clean. First time and probably last.
Apr 13, 2025 · AshawkysUltra sushi is the best all you can eat sushi restaurant in the Bay Area, their customer service is unmatched. The place is kid friendly. Food is always delicious and comes out at good intervals instead of waiting like 30 mins per round like other places.
Mar 24, 2025 · Henry LangWe were uncertain about how this Ayce sushi restaurant would be but it turned out very well. For each starred item, you must pick two regular items but you can eat all you want. The size of the cuts of sashimi depends on the chef so there was variation in the cuts of fish. Also the first pieces were smaller and the later pieces were much bigger. The quality of the fish was very good and so we were happily surprised. Service was very quick and good, there was a fast turnaround after we ordered. The food came quickly and then we got an iPad for our next order. Oh yes, the mussels were tasteless so skip that!!!
Oct 26, 2024 · DYJ1948A little on the expensive side, but a fun experience overall. Large set of rules, but main rule is 2 ordinary items per special item. Fairly tasty overall. Small line but not horrible.
Nov 02, 2024 · Norman CSushi was delicious, fish was good quality and rolls were crafted beautifully. Would easily be 5 stars except :-Waiting area was dirty with spiders visible-Coke syrup was out, never got a refill-Some rolls came out right away, some took 20+ minutes. Made it hard since you can only order so much at a time- It’s way overpriced- We ordered Sake which never came- You can only order the “star items” at a 1:2 ratio to the non premium items, meaning you can’t order something like 2 Sake Belly Nigiri unless you add in two filler items
