Umami Ballard Introduce
umami ballard
For those in Seattle's vibrant Ballard neighborhood seeking Japanese-inspired cuisine, **Umami Ballard** offers a local option for poke bowls and other diverse food items. While the platform category "Doctor Near Me" typically refers to healthcare services, Umami Ballard provides a different kind of "solution" for hunger, offering customizable and often quick meals. It's a spot that aims to cater to a variety of tastes within the realm of Japanese-inspired comfort food, positioned as a convenient choice for those in the vicinity.
You can find Umami Ballard at **6421 15th Ave NW B, Seattle, WA 98107, USA**. For inquiries or to place an order, their phone number is **(206) 402-5040**, and their mobile phone number is **+1 206-402-5040**. In the context of a "Doctor Near Me" search, Umami Ballard functions as a nearby establishment that can address your immediate craving for a specific type of cuisine, much like a quick-care clinic provides a rapid response to minor ailments. It's a place to consider when you need a fast and customizable meal solution in the Ballard area.
Based on the nature of a poke bowl and ramen establishment, Umami Ballard likely offers a **casual and straightforward dining environment**. Such eateries typically prioritize efficiency and a relaxed atmosphere, suitable for a quick lunch, a casual dinner, or a convenient takeout order. While specific details about the decor are not provided, the focus is generally on functionality and a clean space that allows for easy ordering and comfortable, albeit brief, dining. The description implies it's a place where you can easily pop in for a meal. The presence of "one individual that I always see working in there" suggests a potentially smaller, perhaps owner-operated, establishment, which can sometimes lead to a more personal, if informal, interaction. This casual and accessible setting aligns with the immediate and practical nature of services often sought through a "Doctor Near Me" search, where convenience and quick solutions are key.
Umami Ballard primarily offers **counter service for ordering** its Japanese-inspired poke bowls and ramen. The service is highlighted by the presence of a "very nice person" working at the establishment, suggesting a friendly and welcoming demeanor. This personal touch can significantly enhance a casual dining experience, making customers feel comfortable and valued. The core service revolves around customizing poke bowls, allowing patrons to select their ingredients, which caters to individual preferences and dietary needs. While not explicitly detailed, takeout is undoubtedly a major component of their service, fitting the "on-the-go" nature of poke bowls and ramen. The emphasis on being "solid for what it is" implies that the service is efficient and delivers on its promise of providing customizable, Japanese-inspired quick meals. This type of personalized and efficient service can be compared to a "Doctor Near Me" clinic where staff are friendly and address your needs directly and promptly.
Umami Ballard's menu primarily revolves around Japanese-inspired poke bowls and ramen, offering variety and customization:
- Interesting Selection of Poke Bowls: The establishment is noted for its "interesting selection of Japanese inspired poke bowls." This suggests creative combinations and a variety of fresh ingredients for customers to choose from, allowing for a personalized meal experience.
- Diverse Set of Food Items: Beyond just poke bowls, the menu is described as "pretty good" with a "diverse set of food items you can engage with." This implies a broader range of options, potentially including different protein choices, toppings, and bases, catering to varied tastes.
- Ramen Offerings: Ramen is also on the menu, although one reviewer explicitly stated they "haven’t had and can’t attest to the quality of" it. This indicates it's available, offering another warm meal option, but its quality is not confirmed by the provided reviews.
- Customization Focus: The nature of poke bowls inherently implies a high degree of customization, allowing customers to build their ideal meal, choosing proteins, vegetables, sauces, and bases. This caters to specific cravings and dietary preferences.
However, it is crucial to address a significant concern raised in one of the reviews regarding **food preparation hygiene**. A customer observed "The man in the kitchen is cooking and touching everything with NO GLOVES" and had "haven’t seen him wash his hands once" over a 20-minute period. This led to a strong negative reaction, labeling it "DISGUSTING business and it needs to be inspected ASAP." This concern highlights a serious potential issue regarding health and safety practices, which is a critical factor for any food establishment. For those seeking services via "Doctor Near Me," hygiene and safety are paramount, and such a concern would be a red flag.
While explicit promotional campaigns are not detailed, Umami Ballard's appeal is based on its menu offerings and customer interactions. However, the presence of a negative review regarding hygiene significantly impacts its overall perception:
- Menu Variety as a Draw: The "interesting selection" and "diverse set of food items" on the menu serve as the primary draw, aiming to attract customers looking for specific Japanese-inspired dishes like poke and ramen.
- Friendly Service: The positive mention of the "very nice person" working there contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, which can encourage repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth among satisfied customers.
- Mixed Customer Experience: The reviews present a mixed picture. While one customer finds it "solid for what it is" and appreciates the diversity and staff, the severe hygiene concern raised by another customer is a significant detractor. This indicates that while the food concept might appeal to some, potential patrons might be deterred by the reported health concerns.
- Impact of Negative Feedback: The "DISGUSTING business" comment and call for inspection highlight how critically important hygiene is to customer perception and trust. This type of review can heavily influence a potential customer's decision, especially when using a platform like "Doctor Near Me" where health and safety are inherent expectations.
In the broader sense of the "Doctor Near Me" platform, which connects users with immediate local services and goods, Umami Ballard can be seen as a nearby option for a quick culinary fix. Are you in need of a fast, customizable meal to satisfy your hunger? Umami Ballard offers a "prescription" of Japanese-inspired poke bowls. Its convenient location and diverse menu provide a readily available "treatment" for your appetite. However, much like seeking a "Doctor Near Me," patrons would prioritize cleanliness and safety. The serious hygiene concern raised in one review directly challenges its suitability in this context. While it offers a solution to hunger, the paramount concern for health and safety, which is central to the "Doctor Near Me" category, means potential customers would need to weigh this factor carefully before choosing Umami Ballard for their meal.
In summary, Umami Ballard in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood offers a selection of Japanese-inspired poke bowls and ramen, providing a diverse menu and a friendly staff presence. It is positioned as a convenient spot for customizable, quick meals. However, a significant concern regarding kitchen hygiene has been raised by a customer, which is a critical factor for potential diners. While it may serve as a "Doctor Near Me" for a quick meal, individuals prioritize health and safety, and this concern would need to be considered when evaluating the establishment.

Umami Ballard Reviews
This place is solid for what it is. They have an interesting selection of Japanese inspired poke bowls & and Ramen (which I haven’t had and can’t attest to the quality of) but their menu is pretty good and there’s a diverse set of food items you can engage with. The one individual that I always see working in there is a very nice person.

May 15, 2025 · Amos IIIThey have everything. Poke, sushi burritos, bobas, taiyaki, Korean corn dogs, and more. So yummy.
Apr 07, 2025 · Emilie CuevasJust terrible food. We ordered ramen and poke, all of it was inedible. Stale ingredients that had been premade sitting in the fridge all day. The person working there was very nice, but the manager refused any help or refund. Stay away for dinner, maybe earlier in the day is better.
Jan 23, 2025 · Dan McClungIt's just incredible how all of the ingredients (both fish and side dishes) tasted and looked NOT fresh. Crab salad tasted like it was rotten. Fish was dry, chewy, smelly, looked much darker than normal, and omg it tasted unsafely bad, like if it had been in the fridge for a while. I've never tried anything worse than this. I spent $30 per poke bowl and I couldn't eat it.The staff was nice about that, though. I showed them that I was about to throw away the full bowl of poke that I couldn't have eaten, and they issued a full refund. I guess the service is nice.Maybe I just got very unlucky, but still very sad 😔
