We stopped by for Mother’s Day dinner and had a decent time overall. The pricing without the “discount” felt a bit steep, but luckily they were offering a limited time deal if you followed them—which made it more reasonable. The food was good! The hotpot broth came out nice and hot, and the sushi was enjoyable. Orders are placed through a tablet, but each one has to be approved by your server before it’s sent through. That part felt a little clunky, but I assume it’s to help reduce food waste. It did give us more time to browse the sauce and cold bar, which was well-stocked and fun to mix and match from. Most dishes came out quickly, though we did have to wait quite a while for our chicken teriyaki. Some items were fresh, while others were clearly frozen—but nothing tasted bad.Overall, it was a solid experience. As much as I love sushi and hotpot, this isn’t a place I see myself frequenting compared to others, but it’s still worth a visit if you’re curious—especially while the promo is still available. - Taia Jenkins

This address places it in a bustling area of Raleigh, making it easily accessible for residents across the city and surrounding North Carolina communities. Its location on Six Forks Road means it's part of a well-trafficked corridor, often near other popular retail and dining establishments.

As a large restaurant, Umiya Raleigh occupies a significant space, often within a shopping center or plaza, ensuring ample parking is available for guests. While specific parking details aren't provided in the reviews, its location typically implies easy access to parking lots. The restaurant is known to be quite spacious, with the capacity to seat around 300 guests, which indicates a sizable dining area that can accommodate many diners at once. This ample seating, combined with its central Raleigh location, contributes to its accessibility and suitability for larger groups or busy times. Visitors should keep in mind that while generally accessible, popular dining times might still experience a lively atmosphere due to its AYCE model.

Services Offered

Umiya Raleigh prides itself on offering a diverse and engaging all-you-can-eat dining experience, focusing on both sushi and hotpot. Here’s a breakdown of their primary services:

  • All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Sushi: A cornerstone of their offering, diners can enjoy an extensive selection of sushi, including nigiri, sashimi, classic rolls, special rolls (like their popular Salmon Mango and Tataki), tempura rolls, baked rolls, giant rolls, riceless rolls, and vegetarian options. This allows guests to sample a wide variety of fresh Japanese flavors.

  • All-You-Can-Eat Hotpot: Umiya is one of the few places in North Carolina to offer a personal hotpot experience, where each diner gets their own individual pot. They provide a selection of broths, such as Spicy Tom Yum, Pork Broth, Original, Mushroom, Chinese Herbal (Vegetarian), Tomato, Japanese Miso, Beef Butter, and Szechuan Spicy. Guests can then choose from a wide array of meats (beef, pork, chicken, lamb), seafood, vegetables, and noodles to cook at their table.

  • Combined AYCE Sushi & Hotpot: For the ultimate experience, diners can opt for a combination of both AYCE sushi and hotpot, allowing them to enjoy the best of both worlds in one meal.

  • Tablet Ordering System: Orders for both sushi and hotpot ingredients are conveniently placed through a tablet at each table. While generally efficient, this system requires server approval for each order to help manage food waste.

  • Sauce and Cold Bar: Umiya features a well-stocked sauce bar, allowing guests to customize their hotpot broths and dipping sauces. They also have a cold bar that likely offers various accompaniments and appetizers.

  • A La Carte Menu: While known for its AYCE model, Umiya also offers a regular à la carte menu for those who prefer to order individual dishes rather than the all-you-can-eat option. This provides flexibility for different dining preferences.

  • Desserts: The menu includes dessert options, allowing for a sweet conclusion to your meal.

  • Beverage Selection: A range of beverages is available to complement the meal.

Features and Highlights

Umiya Raleigh offers several distinctive features and highlights that contribute to its unique appeal and draw for North Carolina locals:

  • Dual All-You-Can-Eat Concept (Sushi & Hotpot): This is Umiya's most significant differentiator. The ability to indulge in unlimited quantities of both fresh sushi and a personalized hotpot experience is rare in the region. This dual offering caters to a wide range of preferences and makes it an ideal spot for groups with diverse tastes.

  • Personal Hotpot Experience: Unlike some hotpot restaurants where large communal pots are used, Umiya provides individual hotpots for each diner. This allows for personalized broth choices and ensures a hygienic and customized cooking experience for everyone at the table.

  • High-Quality Sushi: Despite being an AYCE establishment, Umiya is praised for its sushi quality. Customers specifically highlight the "pretty good quality" salmon, with dishes like "salmon tataki and salmon mango especially" receiving a "chef’s kiss" for their flavor. Many other sushi items are also noted as "great."

  • Tablet-Based Ordering System: The use of tablets for ordering adds a modern and convenient touch to the dining experience. While it requires server approval (to minimize food waste), it allows diners to browse the extensive menu at their leisure and reorder items easily.

  • Well-Stocked Sauce & Cold Bar: The availability of a diverse sauce bar is a key highlight for the hotpot experience, enabling guests to customize their dipping sauces. The presence of a cold bar also provides additional fresh options and appetizers.

  • Timely Food Delivery: Most dishes are reported to "come out quickly," which is a positive aspect for an AYCE model where continuous ordering is part of the experience. This contributes to a smooth and enjoyable flow of food.

  • Reasonable Pricing (Especially with Promotions): While initial pricing might seem "a bit steep" without a deal, Umiya frequently offers promotions, making the AYCE experience "absolutely worth it," particularly during weekdays. This value proposition makes it attractive for regular visits.

  • Spacious Dining Environment: As North Carolina's first AYCE Sushi and Hot Pot spot, occupying a 12,500-square-foot space and seating 300, Umiya offers a comfortable and expansive dining area, suitable for large groups or busy evenings.

Promotions or Special Offers

Umiya Raleigh is known to offer various promotions, which significantly enhance the value of their all-you-can-eat (AYCE) experience. Based on customer reviews and available information, here are some typical promotions or special offers that locals in North Carolina might find:

  • Limited-Time Deals / Follower Discounts: As noted by a customer review, Umiya has offered "limited time deal if you followed them" which made the pricing "more reasonable." This suggests they actively use social media or loyalty programs to provide discounts, encouraging engagement and repeat visits. It's always a good idea to check their official website or social media channels (like TikTok) for the latest offers.

  • Weekday vs. Weekend Pricing: The AYCE pricing structure itself acts as a form of promotion. Reviews indicate that the "price during the weekdays is absolutely worth it," implying a more favorable rate compared to weekends or holidays. For instance, AYCE sushi or hotpot might be around $19.00 for lunch and $30.95 for dinner, with a small upcharge for combining both. Checking their official menu or calling ahead for specific weekday rates is advisable.

  • Membership Programs: Some Umiya locations (and similar AYCE establishments) offer membership or loyalty programs. These can provide points for visits, sign-up bonuses (e.g., a $5 gift card for signing up), and exclusive discounts or updates on secret menus. Inquiring about such programs at the Raleigh location could yield additional savings.

  • Children's Pricing: Umiya typically offers tiered pricing for children based on age groups (e.g., Age 7-10, Age 4-6, Age 3 and under), making it a more affordable option for families dining with kids.

Given that promotions can be dynamic, the best way for North Carolina locals to stay informed about current specials is to visit Umiya Raleigh's official website, follow their social media accounts, or call them directly. Taking advantage of these offers can make an already enjoyable AYCE experience even more appealing.
