For those working or living in Washington, D.C.'s bustling Navy Yard, finding quick and convenient meal options is essential. White Lotus Sushi (Navy Yard) aims to serve this need, offering Japanese cuisine with a particular focus on pre-packaged and made-to-order sushi. Situated within the dynamic environment of the Navy Yard, it provides a practical solution for a fast and accessible sushi fix during busy days.
White Lotus Sushi is designed for efficiency, catering to a clientele that values speed and convenience. The concept allows for quick grab-and-go purchases from their refrigerated display, making it ideal for a fast lunch break or a convenient dinner pickup. While some customers note variations in consistency and service, the establishment strives to offer sushi that is generally good and competitive in price for the D.C. market.
The restaurant's position within the Navy Yard suggests it primarily serves the local workforce and residents looking for a reliable, quick-service option for their Japanese food cravings. It’s a place where you can quickly pick up your favorite rolls or nigiri, allowing for a swift and easy meal solution in a busy urban setting.
White Lotus Sushi (Navy Yard) is located at 9th & M St SE, Building 22 Ground Floor, Washington, DC 20374, USA. This address places it directly within the thriving and rapidly developing Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, D.C. This strategic location makes it highly accessible for the extensive population that works within the Navy Yard complex, as well as for residents living in the numerous apartment buildings and condominiums that have sprung up in the area.
The Navy Yard is well-served by public transportation. The restaurant's proximity to the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro station (Green Line) provides excellent access for those commuting via the Metro system. Additionally, various bus routes operate through the neighborhood, offering further convenient public transit options.
For those who drive, while street parking can be a challenge in D.C., the Navy Yard area has several public parking garages. However, given the density and walkability of the neighborhood, and the primary audience of the business (those within the complex), walking or using public transport is often the most practical method of access. Its ground-floor location within Building 22 also makes it easy to find for those familiar with the Navy Yard layout.
White Lotus Sushi (Navy Yard) focuses on providing convenient and quick sushi options tailored for a fast-paced environment.
A La Carte Sushi and Rolls: The primary service offered is a selection of sushi, including rolls (maki) and nigiri. These items are often pre-packaged and stored in a front refrigerator for quick, grab-and-go purchases, making it an efficient choice for busy customers. This allows for immediate selection without waiting for preparation.
Custom or Cooked Rolls (on demand): While much of their sushi is pre-packaged, there's an indication that some cooked sushi rolls might ideally be "prepared on the spot." This suggests a potential for made-to-order options, especially for cooked items, though the predominant model leans towards convenience.
Eel (Unagi) Specialties: A specific mention of the "Ungai Special" (Eel Roll, Hoso Maki, and Eel Nigiri) highlights their offering of popular eel-based dishes, suggesting these are a consistent part of their menu.
Variety of Drinks: While current reviews suggest a potential shift, past experiences indicate a "larger variety of drinks" was available, which would typically include standard non-alcoholic beverages like sodas and teas.
Takeout Focus: Given the nature of pre-packaged sushi and its location within a bustling professional environment, White Lotus Sushi heavily caters to takeout. Customers can quickly select their desired items and be on their way.
Dine-in (Limited): As a fast-casual spot, there might be limited seating for dine-in, allowing customers to quickly consume their meals on-site, though the emphasis is on rapid service.
White Lotus Sushi (Navy Yard) offers several features designed to appeal to its local clientele, particularly those seeking quick and convenient Japanese options.
Convenient Navy Yard Location: Its prime placement within Building 22 of the Navy Yard is a significant highlight. This makes it incredibly accessible for the large number of individuals who work in the complex or live in the surrounding residential areas, providing a very convenient option for a quick lunch or dinner.
Competitive Pricing: Customers have noted that "the price for the amount of sushi get is very competitive in the DC sushi market." This affordability for the quantity of food received is a strong draw, especially in a city known for higher dining costs.
A La Carte & Pre-Packaged Options: The availability of sushi "packaged and stored in the front refrigerator for à la carte purchase" emphasizes speed and convenience. This allows customers to quickly grab their desired items without waiting for preparation, ideal for those with limited time.
Generally Good Sushi (Historically): Past reviews indicate that "the sushi was always good no matter what time you came." While there have been recent inconsistencies mentioned, this historical consistency suggests a capability for quality sushi when operating optimally. The "Ungai Special" was also noted as "very good and mostly fresh."
Past Positive Customer Service (Anecdotal): An older, sweet lady who previously worked there was highlighted for providing "great customer service" and sometimes offering "fruit and candy." While this personal touch may have changed, it indicates a history of positive interactions that contributed to a welcoming atmosphere.

White Lotus Sushi (Navy Yard) Reviews
This is my new review. I don’t know if the owner left but there was this older sweet lady who’d work there and always give great customer service and sometimes fruit and candy. There was a larger variety of drinks and it was always a great trip. The sushi was always good no matter what time you came. But today and the last 3 times we came the rice and shrimp was hard * at early times* and customer service doesn’t exist. I had to throw away my food but don’t plan on coming again.
May 08, 2024 · Nataly PerezToday, I got the Ungai Special: 8pcs Eel Roll, 8pcs of Hoso Maki & 2pcs of Eel Nigiri. The sushi was very good and mostly fresh. The sushi is all packaged and stored in the front refrigerator for à la carte purchase. For cooked sushi rolls, it would be nice if the sushi was prepared on the spot. However, the price for the amount of sushi get is very competitive in the DC sushi market.
